Can Brees throw like this in Chicago in January? That's the big question. He did play college ball down the road at Purdue, so it's not like he has no experience in cold, sh*tty weather.
But still ... I wonder.
The Chargers are the class of the AFC right now. They should have ZERO fear about going to Indianapolis for a game, as Tomlinson might have 150 yards rushing by halftime.
The NFC is wide open for the taking. When does the first NFL BCS poll get released this season?
Fun pigskin times.
Take care,
PK

The Saints win was probably the biggest of the season. They marched into Dallas and kicked the Cowboys to the curb. They have demolished their last three opponents. I definitely think they could win in Chicago, even if the weather was not optimal for passing. With Bush coming on strong their offense looks ferocious.
great line! Just had to show my appreciation - nothing to add when you speak the truth.Dave wrote:Why wouldn't they give him carries in the second quarter?pk500 wrote:The Chargers are the class of the AFC right now. Yeah, probably Colston, maybe Vince Young if the Titans win some more.dbdynsty25 wrote:Colston will get that honor. I doubt a special teamer has ever won the rookie of the year (unless it was a kicker).Danimal wrote:Any chance of this guy winning rookie of the year?
Hester is incredible. He seems to have learned from his bad decisions earlier in the season.
Bears looks pretty good last night. Defense wasn't as tough, but those kick returns kept them on the field a lot. The most impressive thing was scoring 42 points while forcing only a late pick. Grossman looked a lot better -- nothing spectacular, but he made pretty good decisions most of the night. He made a good read on the Berrian TD and a great throw to Muhammed for his second.
Strabge isn't it... for years, Miami always started out the season hot going 4-0, 6-2, then they would crash and burn in November & December. Now these last two years, it is just the opposite. I guess it's a good sign that they didn't just roll over and die when they were 1-6. But if they just beat the freakin' Texans earlier this year, we'd still have a chance for the playoffs!dbdynsty25 wrote:I love watching Tom Brady almost come to blows with his linemen. Nothing is better. Well, making the playoffs would be nice, but beating Brady and the Pats 21-0 was sure fun. Would have been nice to start the season with Harrington rather than Culpepper...might have had a chance at the playoffs if they did that. That one was on Saban.

Id vote Hester. Most of his returns have been big momentum changers or squashers.dbdynsty25 wrote:Colston will get that honor. I doubt a special teamer has ever won the rookie of the year (unless it was a kicker).Danimal wrote:Any chance of this guy winning rookie of the year?
He has made a HUGE difference in 3 of the Bears wins.

Yeah, I hate how 1,000 yard and 7+ TD receivers don't matter in the grand scheme of things.XXXIV wrote:Id vote Hester. Hate the game not the player.dbdynsty25 wrote:Yeah, I hate how 1,000 yard and 7+ TD receivers don't matter in the grand scheme of things.XXXIV wrote:Id vote Hester. Bush would get the rookie nod on the Saints anyway.

He has turned or stemmed the tie in 3 games. In every single games he helps the Bears win the field position battle.
Get back to me when you start watching the NFL.
I have to agree with DB, even though I'd love to see Hester win it. Hester has been great and has made a huge impact, but he's a return guy. Reggie Bush has 1000 yards combined rushing and receiving, while Colston should hit 1000 receiving. Vince Young's overall QB rating will probably be too low, but if the Titans finish 8-8 or 9-7, he'll be in the running, and I think his performance is even more impressive given the personnel around him and how hard it is to be a rookie QB.
I do think Mark Anderson has a great shot at defensive ROY.

You mentioned Bush, I quoted and responded to Bush. Get back to me when you learn to read.XXXIV wrote:Two games???dbdynsty25 wrote:Yeah, because rookies win the award based off two games. Get back to me when the awards are issued.XXXIV wrote:Hate the game not the player.![]()

Colston is at 917 yards along with 7 tds...and he missed 3 games (2 full and 3 1/2 quarters of the third when he sprained his ankle). Hester is awesome, I wish he'd win it, but he won't. Did you see how Tori Holt was mocking him on the sidelines after he straight up USED him on his TD catch? Hester isn't a good DB or a WR...Miami tried him everywhere and he just wasn't good, except for returning kicks/punts. Unless you actually play a position, you're not going to win a rookie of the year award...regardless of how many games you change.
Learn to specify...That was pretty vague.dbdynsty25 wrote: Get back to me when you learn to read.

As for returners winning the award. This is a special case. A record shattering, helping a team to the #1 seed case...There is a first time for everything. This is the time.
GORE!!
Congratulations, Niner fans. Even if the 49ers miss the playoffs this year, they've found their franchise RB and QB. Again, Nolan deserves big props for helping to develop their youngsters over these last 2 seasons. Next year looks very bright for them, barring injuries.
Usually the Super Bowl jinx only hits the team that WINS the Super Bowl. WTF happened to the Seahawks? Without Josh Brown they'd have lost 2-3 more games. I think the early injury to Alexander (Madden jinx showing up again) might have taken them out of their groove this year.
In hearing yesterday's late breaking news - obviously someone in high places is a huge Packer fan, with all the crap being piled on the Bears of late - how many defensive starters will they be without this Sunday? I'm shocked that 20 officers raided Tank Johnson's home like it was the Branch Davidian compound. Was there some kind of legitimate threat, or what?

Gore plays too much like Earl Campbell so I wonder about his longetivity, especially given his past injuries. He's not a big guy but he's finishing off runs and often requiring to be gang-tackled. While it's great to see that, in only his second season, you wonder if he can last.
I was cursing Smith the first half, underthrowing receivers left and right. He kept forcing receivers to reach down to try to catch balls, leaving no chances for RAC.
Collinsworth said he rated Smith a distant fourth to Cutler, Leinart and Young. Smith was actually looking better earlier in the season. Last night's second half is the best game he's had in at least 6 games. Hopefully it's just youthful inconsistency.
We have a lot of salary cap room but whether they will spend that money and be able to attract FAs is another matter. But NFC West is soft now, with Seattle really needing help in both lines, Rams not improving their defense as much as they needed. Actually Cards have accumulated a lot of high draft picks over the years so they may put it together some day. Won't take much to take over this division but after that, probably not much, at least for another couple of years.

This ought to be a good laugh for those who thought Hester shouldn't be a Rookie of the Year candidate because he's a special teamer....

WTF is that guy smoking? Hester is damn good at what he does but MVP? Typical lazy sports writing. How many sports writers are relying on making a crazy point for a little recognition? That's the worst trend in sports journalism right now. Guys like Skip Bayless, Bernie Lincicome, and Jay Mariotti are not what sports journalism needs.Kazuya wrote:This ought to be a good laugh for those who thought Hester shouldn't be a Rookie of the Year candidate because he's a special teamer....

Poor taste to quote yourself, but as I was saying.RobVarak wrote:All due respect, but the Seahawks are much less scary to me as Bears fan than the Cowboys and the Saints. Beating up on the Packers at home is no sign that a team is healthy, and that Seahawks OL is still poor IMO.
