Danimal wrote:Bottom line Grossman is terrible as of late. You want to make a switch then be prepared to stay with it and ride it home, because this horsecrap I've been hearing about letting him sit a few games and if Griese doesn't do well come back to Rex is bullshit. You think he is pressing now, put him on the bench for 3 games and then come back to him by default and see what happens.
If they do switch, I agree they have to stay with Griese for the remainder, unless he does a Jonathan Quinn impersonation. And while he won't inspire a lot of highlights, Griese is a decent game manager.

The thing is, the Bears have a real shot to win the Super Bowl if they cut down their turnovers. If I thought they would only have one or two turnovers in a playoff game, I'd feel confident they'd beat anybody on most days. The idea that you only need to score 10 points to beat them is misguided -- they are scoring points, either on defense and special teams or because the d is setting them up.

Grossman is the long-term answer, but I don't want to sacrifice a short-term shot at a title to help him develop. In this year's medicore NFL, I can see them winning it all with Griese. Of course, I'd rather have the Grossman we saw earlier this season, but if he keeps screwing up, I'm not sure they should wait.

I can't belive you put Young, Montana and Grossman are all in the same sentence. Grossman WILL never be a good QB, nevermind a great one. After this year Grossman will be a backup somewhere. Hell, Dilfer was a better QB because he didn't turn it over as much as Rex. That is the key to team like the Bears and '00 ravens. Low scoring, keep it close and let your defense score for you or set you up in good field position.

I certainly hope you were not responding to me, I didn't compare Grossman to Montana at all.

Willie Parker set a Steeler franchise single game rushing record tonight with 223 yards and also first Steeler to have two 200 yard games in a season.

This is the first game I've seen on the NFL Network, why in the world is Bryant Gumbel doing the announcing for them, along with Collinsworth that has to be the worst broadcast team ever.

Damn, forgot about these Thursday night games.

Didn't set my rosters or anything.

BTW, heard that Tommie Harris may be out for the season?

Watched most of the game. This commentating duo makes the MNF gang sound like they are reciting Shakespeare. Really bad.

Oh, and the Browns looked like a high school team out there.

It sounds like it. Possible torn hammy. Just devastating news. All teams have to contend with injuries but losing Harris and Mike Brown in the same season really hurts. This bothers me much more than the Grossman situation.

You would also think the Browns rushing attack would get better from watching all those teams run wild on them :D

I keep forgetting too... I'm sure by the year 2020 there will be a football game on every night.

And Tony Romo won NFC offensive player of the month...

The Colts run defense is a f*cking joke. They have to be the worse unit in the NFL; no offense is that bad and no other defense is that pathetic.

At least losing their first playoff game won't be as much of a surprise this year.

Damn, and I didn't start Taylor.

I think ever since Peyton, Edge and Harrison took up so much of the cap early on in their careers, there was always a question of whether the Colts would ever be able to surround them with enough talent to win a championship.

They had to let Edge go but they gave Wayne a big contract and of course, Peyton has an unbelievable cap number. Freeney must be getting some money too.

Loss of Simon had to hurt but Colts have fast but small LBs who probably can't stand up as well to power rushing games.

Highlights did show some missed tackles down field so looks like the CBs and safeties are having problems too.

Chargers up 41-20 with 3:52 left. A win here and they clinch the AFC West title.

Tomlinson tied Shaun Alexander's single season TD record with 27.

I love watching Tom Brady almost come to blows with his linemen. Nothing is better. Well, making the playoffs would be nice, but beating Brady and the Pats 21-0 was sure fun. Would have been nice to start the season with Harrington rather than Culpepper...might have had a chance at the playoffs if they did that. That one was on Saban.

Only 5 yards/carry? The Jags averaged just under 15 yards per carry in the first half, FIFTEEN!!!

Did that happen to the Rams, too? I was talking about today, where Jones-Drew and Taylor each had 100 yards in the first half against the sad-sack Colts D.

Right now, it's the Chargers and everyone else. They have a gear I don't think any other team possesses. Tomlinson is just a machine.

They're easily the most complete team in the league. Looking at the teams with the same or just one game back, the Bears and Ravens have questionable offenses and the Colts D is worse than either of those two units. But the Chargers do have a QB in his first year of starting, so who knows what could happen in the playoffs.

Think Reggie Bush is starting to figure out how to run in the NFL?

How are Texans fans feeling right now watching Bush the last two weeks or an even more impressive Vince Young the past few weeks? Especially with Vince taking them down in OT with an amazing scramble of his own.

I know what you were talking about. I was merely pointing out that there is a run D out there that is just as bad if not worse on a week to week basis.
I know that the Colts had the worst single day I have ever seen.

It is nice though that we are debating who has worse run D :P ...not a good sign.

Chargers are definitely a team to be reckoned with. Definitely my AFC favorite to get to the Super Bowl.

I thought the Cowboy's would be able to beat the Saints without too much problem tonight and were the team I picked to represent the NFC. But that isn't going to happen. The NFC is going to be very interesting this year.

Chicago is the #1 seed. Going to be tough for any team to play at Soldier Field in January. But, Chicago's offense is putrid. Going to be hard for them to win in the playoffs unless Grossman turns things around quick. The Saints being a #2 seed is HUGE! First off, a BYE week. Secondly, the Superdome is going to rock so hard when they host the playoff game. Most likely will be Seattle or Dallas. Assuming the Saints and Chicago win, going to be real tough for the Saints to win there.

Right now, I don't see anyone stopping the Chargers. They are definitely the most complete team in the NFL. Wouldn't it be pretty ironic if the Saints and Chargers happen to meet in the Super Bowl?
