"Wii seems enjoyable because I can play a game by moving my body,'' said Sato, who, together with his girlfriend, considers themselves as a non-gamer. "PS3 is too expensive and doesn't have a good game.''
I loled. Even a professed non-gamer scoffs at their launch.

For anyone needing help on Wiigolf check this thread out. Itried it a few minutes ago and it really is a blast. I love the ball physics in WiiGolf and the challenge is huge, especially when the wind is blowing.
Definitely and underated game and the most fun I've had with golf since PGA Championship
Well, i sucked it up and headed over to Circuit City at 6:30 this morning. I was 11th in line and word was they were getting 17. At 8:10 the manager came out and handed out 17 vouchers. As of 10:01 this morning i will be part of the Wii60 club. Now i just hope all the hype was worth this miserable search process!!!

Yeah, Wii Sports is clearly the best game on the system, in my opinion. We have 5 Wii games, including Zelda and none of them have been in our system since the day we got it.
Gotta Wii. While I'd been preparing to hit up Target early Sunday AM, got a surpirse call from a couple of my sisters saying they wanted to camp a Target for a Wii for my son and I as well as one for a boyfriend of one of theirs. Seeing as they were pretty adamant, I let them do it and payed them for it later Sunday morning. Since then, I've been messing with the Wii Channels and Wii Sports in my free time.
My son, 4, is really digging it too and his wild gesticulations in Boxing and Tennis are translating reasonably well into on screen success. It was even funny when he raised his remote hand to scratch his head and his onscreen boxing counterpart mimicked the motion pretty well.
I'll give some brief impressions here, in no particular order.
Bowling - Seems to be a fairly good simulation of the sport. As others have attested, may be the most 'accurate' of the included games as far as interpreting the inputs from the remote. There is a considerable tendency to put some amount of hook on the ball, but you can definitely throw a straight ball with some attention to your swing/release and even a back-up curve. Ball speed also seems to be well-influenced as well. Release point is pretty well done, too. If you don't swing your arm, it is possible for you to drop the fall at your feet or, humorously, release during your backswing for effect. My son got a kick out of the shrieking and jumping Mii audience.
Boxing - Fun in that it is the only included game to take advantage of the included nunchuk controller. Watching my son flail with two hands highlighted both positive and negative aspects of the motions sensing implementation, but with more good than bad results. Some things, i.e., punching with two fists, are more an issue with the software than with the motion sensing alone. It is possible to put together some nice jab combinations, but I still need to experiment with different punch types. I have seen hooks and uppercuts thrown, but have not been able to consistently perform them yet.
Golf - IMHO, this could be the game that requires the steepest learning curve, as there is a fair amount of touch involved. It seems that if you need to chip or flop a shot, it is possible to take something off the backswing, but the timing of the foward swing is very touchy. Becuase in the short game you are trying to considerably control your swing, I've found that sometimes the swing doesn't quite register. OTOH, when you hit the meter correctly, it tends to feel 'right'
Baseball - Will say that batting is fun. Wiggling the bat like Gary Sheffield is fairly fun and if you pay careful attention to hold the controller with the buttons facing you, you can mimic a fair range of positions to hold the bat. I haven't spent enough time with it yet, and it is a simple baseball game like you'd play in your backyard Wiffleball game with phantim runner rules, but it is fun to try to take a good rip at the ball. Pitching is a mixed bag. It definitely feels possible to impart velocity on the ball (a flick of the wrist during your delivery does wonders), but I haven't experimented enough with the pitch selection to see if it makes much difference. Perhaps in a two player game it would be more significant.
Tennis - Tennis strikes me like a fun game for a group of four. Right now, with one controller, you're relegated to two on two matches against CPU opponents where your motions affect both teammates. It is possible to affect direction of your shot (timing based) and you can execute a lob based upon your grip on the controller. OTOH, you can't do anything silly like serve-underhanded as this is the serve is a canned animation (of course, all of the tennis anims are canned). One thing that seems fairly well represented is the forehand, backhand as swinging with the wrong stroke most often results in a miss.
All in all, as a pack in, Wii Sports is great and a lot of fun. Don't know if it would warrant a full-price purchase, but I can see it getting considerable play-time just the same. Like others, I've yet to get into Zelda, though I know I will.
The Wii experience overall screams fun, and while the graphics are clearly not going to give the other consoles a run for their money, I had significantly lowered expectations and have come away somewhat impressed. I do have my questions as to the third-party support and how well the control scheme will stand up over the next few years, but for now, I'm quite pleased with the purchase.

I am getting one tomorrow.

Will, I can't help but view your Wii-search as being fueled by sexual frustration/anticipation.

I should point out, regarding bowling, that it is possible, in stretches at least, to 'get it' and rip off consecutive strikes with seeming ease. I think the highest I got was 5. That said, my highest scores in 5 games or so has been 178 and 175 probably 40 points higher than I could reasonably expect from myself in IRL. I do see it quite possible to get reasonably well into the two hundreds with practice, but as always YMMV.

Please let us know if and when you score!
You got me there! Along with Nintendo... this is a conspiracy!! I am not scoring till 2007. But I am ready for the hole-in-one and multiple turkeys, so watchout!!!
3 consecutive strikes in REAL bowling is called a Turkey...so I'd assume it was in every game, by every publisher. So everyone has had their way with a turkey if they are any kind of bowler at all.

You must look snappy in polyester ...

I am not sure if I understand you... so a touchdown is only called a TOUCHDOWN in REAL American Football, and not videogame football... or a Hit, Strike, Homerun, Grand Slam are only called that in REAL baseball and not videogame baseball??
PK said that it's called a 'turkey' in another game, like it was ironic that it was called the same thing. I was just telling him (assuming he didn't really bowl at all) that it is REALLY called that in real life and it's not just ironic.
