Well, it's a nice consolation prize for Quinn. Everyone knows who the best senior QB -- hell, the best QB, period -- in the land is. And he doesn't live in South Bend during the school year.

Take care,

It's not a good sign that UF moved up to #2 in the coaches and AP polls.

AP poll does not matter anymore...They took their voting out of the BCS a few years ago. You have to look at the Harris poll which replaced it in the BCS formula.

Yes, I know. It states that in the article.

The Gators will get slaughtered...Fans got screwed out of the best game.

The only difference between OSU and Michigan this year is that the game was played in Columbus .

I think all the anti rematch stuff is bullshit.

EDIT:...On the bright side...The fans will get the Rose Bowl. Which should be an amazing game.

I'm sorry, but that Ohio State / Michigan game was not as close as the final score would indicate. There was never a time, while watching that game, that I felt that the Wolverines had a chance of winning. Give Florida a crack and there's no way in hell a team that didn't even win their conference should be in the National Championship game.

Ya it's good for the fans of both usc and michigan to get the rose bowl, but how about the rest of us. Who really cares who the 3rd best team in the country is. Will the winner of the Rose bowl chant 'We're #3!' after they win? BCS is such a joke :)

As for the rematch, I saw Kirk Herb crying on espn a few minutes ago. You can argue either side I suppose.

It is ironic to me that one of the reasons voters picked Florida over Michigan was because they did not want to see a rematch in the National Championship game. Ironic because if it wasn't for a rematch, Florida would not have had a chance to win their first championship.

It is also ironic to me that suddenly everyone stresses the importance of making every game count and that nothing should be done to hurt the integrity of the college football season. Obviously, the NCAA realizes that if the big games (Ohio State - Texas, Ohio State - Michigan) don't count, then why should we care about all of the horrible mismatches we get to start the season?

It is funny that every game didn't count when Nebraska gave up 62 points to Colorado and still made the championship game, or Miami beat FSU and then watched FSU play for all the marbles anyway.

Let's be honest. The system is broken. We generally find out the strength of a conference after the bowl games are played out - which does nothing to help the poor team that gets left out of the mix.

Personally, I vote for a 4 team playoff. Being left out of the mix because you fall to #5 is not nearly the injustice of being #3 and on the outside looking in.

It's rare in this system when you get a chance in your last game to play for a title with a win. If Michigan beats OSU, they're in. No questions asked. Michigan lost. Few teams are ever given that much of an opportunity -- and Michigan failed to take advantage of it.

Scoop is also dead on correct.

Ohio State outrushed Michigan
Ohio State outpassed Michigan
Ohio State Committed three turnovers, 2 on botched snaps and one in the red zone, and still beat Michigan despite of it.

If there was ever a chance for UM to beat OSU, it was on Nov.18th when they lost the turnover battle 3-0.

If Michigan fans want to cry and moan -- sorry folks, they had a chance to beat #1, and they lost. They are now at the mercy of the system they agreed to be a part of.

The only team since this whole BCS mess started that I have any real sympathy for is Auburn. Everyone else lost a game and therefore have to take the medicine this system gives them.

Didn't OSU win on the last possession or almost the end of that game?

Who would win if Florida and Michigan played?

I agree with Scoop and Bill. Michigan had their chance and lost.
Why should they get a second chance to be #1? You have to look at the
regular season and the bowl games as one long continuous season to find #1. Michigan was nowhere near beating OSU. I agree that the game was not as close as the score. If OSU beats FL then they are clearly #1. You never know what will happen. Who thought UCLA would beat USC? I think the Gators have a decent shot. If they can somehow find a kicking and punting game on gameday and learn to not burn all their timeouts before the 4th quarter, they will have a shot.

I disagree 100%

I stick to my previous post...

I think its a shame that a national title is decided because it was OSUs turn to be the home team.

My bad, I was reading his post like THIS was florida's first chance to win a championship.

I am a dawg, I HATE Florida yet I still think they should be playing for the championship this year. I don't like OSU either but I hope they wax those Gaytors.

Bill, I have heard this same thing at my home for 2 weeks now. My wife went to Ohio State, and Buckeye football is the only sport that she cares about. After many "discussions," I was able to get her to admit that her main reason for not wanting a rematch with Michigan was that there is a bigger "What if we somehow lose the National Championship Game" fear. That would be something that would be remembered forever in that great rivalry, and would sting a great deal more than a loss to the Gators. Personally I don't see anyone beating the Buckeyes.

So let me get this right. Because Florida lost to #9 Auburn they deserve a shot more so than Michigan who lost by 3 to #1 OSU? And that game WAS as close as the score. OSU dominated the first half, Michigan adjusted and won the second but fell just short.

Why is it that UNC can play Duke in basketball for the championship in basketball even if they were swept by Duke during the regular season? Or the the NCAA has no problem pairing UNH and Maine in the Frozen Four even though they played multiple times during the year? Sure, one could argue that the above is more a testament to the need for a playoff, but the bottom line is football has an issue with rematches because it's not good for the country or not fair?? How is THIS fair that we don't see the best game, on a neutral site, simply because voters had the power to say so. Stupid.

Christ, why not let Boise State play OSU. At least there you can make the case that they did all they had to do and put up a donut in the loss column. To say one single loss team deserves to be there because they haven't "had their shot" yet is moronic. Shot or no shot, the two best teams should play and this isn't happening.
