For people still looking, I can pass along some information that I received today pertaining to the sales of Wii's at Walmart.
We received a shipment of 9 units today and when I went to ring a customer up who wanted to purchase one, a sale restriction popped up. A little later I found out that we are not selling any units until Dec. 6th at 8 am. If anyone tries to, they will get the notifcation about the restriction. Also, we are going to be doing the same thing as we did with the launch of the unit where you stand in line..blah blah blah.

For anyone interewted in the Rapala Fishing game for Wii...
Stay away...stay VERY far away!!!
I may not be giving a fair shake but I played it for about 15 minutes and it is worthless IMO. The graphics are PS1 quality, and the gameplay seems very tacked on. The camera angle sucks under water, in fact, combined with the horrible graphics it is almost impossible to tell what the hell is going on.
Within 5 minutes I had caught 3 fish without trying to do anything but casting my line and there was nothing more to it than reeling straight in. I know it was only a 15 minute try out but I just don't think there is any way it could get better (at least good enough to warrant even a rental).

Thanks for the heads up. Another question, what does the Wii use for game saves? Is there a memory card system or internal storage? I would imagine some form of internal storage since you can download games from the Wii Channel but I saw a Nintendo SD Memory Card in the coming soon section on ebgames.com.WillHunting wrote:You might want to order a component cable if you are going to hook Wii up to a HDTV for the best picture (480p).ScoopBrady wrote:I don't know if it's been covered in this thread yet but I was curious what was included in the box. Someone told me yesterday that the box didn't come with a nunchuk. Is that true? I'm getting one for Christmas (at least if I can get my hands on one before then, if not the first one I find after Christmas) and want to know what else I need to pick up.

Well, out of the blue my wife tells me to get one of these for my son. I could only laugh as I attempted to say
"ok honey, I'll just head out right now and pick one up."
Anyway, apparantely she played it at my brother-in-law's place today. She fell in love with Wii Bowling and thought he'd absolutely love the baseball, boxing and golf games.
She's absolutely clueless as to how rare these puppies are. I had no intentions of getting one of these and now she wants me to find one in time for him to unwrap on Christmas.
Any suggestions?

Well, Nintendo just said they are on target to sell 4 million of those suckers by years end (worldwide) and they have only sold 600,000 so far. I imagine you'll see bigger shipments in a week or so. A friend of mine happened to be at Best Buy in West Los Angeles on Sunday morning and he said they had Wiis available. It seems like they are getting shipments in on Saturday nights or something. He also said they had some PS3's available if you can believe it. So you might want to check out the stores on Sunday morning.PRBoom wrote:Well, out of the blue my wife tells me to get one of these for my son. I could only laugh as I attempted to say

Where and how? I'm striking out everywhere I look. I'm starting to doubt that I'll be able to get one for Christmas.WillHunting wrote:I am getting one tomorrow.pigpen81 wrote:Wow, my wife is 50 points away from a Pro on Wii Bowling. So I've had my Wii for almost 2 weeks now, and I am amazed at taken I am with Wii Sports. I've acquired 4 games in that time (Gears of War for 360, Zelda, CoD3 for Wii, and of course Wii Sports), and of all of those, I have probably spent the most time with Wii Sports.
I said before launch that if Wii Sports wasn't a pack-in, I wouldn't even consider buying it, but now I find myself coming back to that game over and over. I like that I can play with any of my friends, including my girlfriend, and I am semi-obsessed with getting golds in training--a very difficult task.
Long story short, Wii Sports has stole the show for me and provided more staying power than I ever expected. It also makes me really anxious for full sports titles by EA and 2k. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

EA buys Headgate Studios (makers of PGA 99, 2000, and all the recent TWs), and turns them into EA Salt Lake as a Wii-specific studio:

Same here my wife never touched a video game, and she is cool and lets me do my thing. But the other day she asked me to play some bowling with her. Wii played 3 games i was stunnedbdunn13 wrote:I left my fiance at my house tonight while I went over to get something from my mom's house.. when I got back my fiance was bowling and it was her second game.. when she was done she asked me to play to. I mirror your experience exactly. While I wouldn't trade away my 360 or Gears of War, the Wii and Wii Sports are garnering a ton of playtime. I've hit PRO in bowling and tennis, and love the challenge a tennis match now brings. I need to do the same for boxing/baseball/golf, then try to get gold in the training exercises - clearly there is a lot of playtime left in this one.Naples39 wrote:So I've had my Wii for almost 2 weeks now, and I am amazed at taken I am with Wii Sports. Most importantly, I share your hope for EA/2K Sports games for the Wii.

Nevermind. I went to Nintendo World Store at Rockefeller yesterday and they told me that they will get a shipment today. I went to store this morning 9am and apparently, a line was already there since 7am and only those people with a number will get one. Needless to say, I didn't get a number so I won't be getting one anytime soon.ScoopBrady wrote:Where and how? I'm striking out everywhere I look. I think I will just get a 360 instead. If companies can't make enough of a product, I will just buy something else.

I feel pretty stupid, I just got back from a family vacation in Naples, FL. When we left on Weds. I had to stop at a Best Buy to get a battery for our portyable DVD player.
Anyway they had about 10-15 Wi's in stock, I though about getting one but we were already packed and I had no where to put it and we had all of our carry ons accounted for etc. I figured if they were in stock here, they must be in stock at home. I've since come to realize that I was just in the right place at the right time, and now I doubt I will find one by Xmas.
This thing and the damm Fischer price Kid Tough Digital Camera are my white whale this holiday season.
