PLAYING THE GAME
MX UNLEASHED totally rocks with some of the most challenging, grueling, and punishing off-road races imaginable. There are 20 pro riders in the game including such luminaries as TRAVIS PRESTON, JOSH HANSEN, DANNY SMITH, BRANDON JESSEMAN, BROCK SELLARDS and MATT WALKER, JUST TO NAME A FEW AND A WIDE VARIETY OF 125CC AND 250CC BIKES TO CHOOSE FROM. Game modes are CAREER (14 race leagues and 5 freestyle competitions), SUPERCROSS (24 indoor stadium tracks), NATIONALS (22 indoor stadium tracks) and FREESTYLE (take on 3 pro riders in Hit or Run Objectives and challenge a different Machine in each environment in a point-to-point race). MX Unleashed is a single player motocross racing game that has a VIBRATION option and a SAVE feature for recording your progress and custom settings in the game. Prior to each race in the CAREER MODE, you will advance to the Career Options Screen where you can view STATISTICS on your career and choose RACING or FREESTYLE competitions. You will then advance to the BIKE & RIDER SCREEN where you can choose a RIDER and GEAR for the impending race. Once you have completed your selections on the BIKE & RIDER SCREEN, highlight START EVENT and press the A BUTTON to begin the game. Prior to each race you must select a Pro Rider and Bike. The complete roster of Pro Riders you can choose from is as follows: TRAVIS PRESTON, JOSH HANSEN, DANNY SMITH, BRANDON JESSEMAN, BROCK SELLARDS, MATT WALKER, STEVE BONIFACE, TROY ADAMS, STEPHANE RONCADA, RTIC SORBY, MIKE LAROCCO, GRANT LANGSTON, SEBASTIAN TORTELLI, TIM FERRY, NICK WEY, EZRA LUSK, CLARK STILES, KYLE LEWIS, LARRY WARD, CHAD REED, RONNIE RENNER, RONNIE FAISST and DOUG PARSONS. ONCE A RACE BEGINS, The LAP DISPLAY (shows current lap and total number of laps in the race) and your current SCORE appear on the top left corner of the screen. A display on the top right corner of the screen shows your current TIME, the LEADER time, the BEST time for the current course and your current POSITION relative to that of other riders in the race (there are 8 riders in each race). A MAP of the current course appears on the bottom left corner of the screen. Your HUD DISPLAY (Heads Up Display) appears on the bottom right corner of the screen showing your SPEEDOMETER, DISTANCE GAUGE and PRELOAD METER (vertical meter appearing on the right side of the screen). In the CAREER mode, you need to outscore seven other riders over the course of an entire racing season in order to win the Championship title (through out each race, your goal is to outperform your fellow bikers and be the first racer to cross the finish line). You earn points for finishing each race in the following order: 1ST- 20 POINTS, 2ND- 17 POINTS, 3RD- 14 and 4TH- 11 POINTS. You begin the Career Mode in the 125cc Amateur Nationals Series. Each race is comprised of a varying number of laps. At the end of each race, you will advance to the RACE RESULTS SCREEN where your scores will be tallied (press the L or R BUTTONS to scroll through Race Results, Fastest Lap, Laps Led, Times In Lead, Longest Jump Distance, Longest Hangtime, Total Passes, Times Passed, Total Wrecks, Total Preloads and Total Clutches). You will then advance to the LEAGUE STANDINGS SCREEN where you will be awarded points consistent with your finishing position in the race and ranked according to your cumulative points earned during your Career. If your scores are good enough, you will be entered in the Hall of Fame after which you may SAVE your progress in the game subsequent to beginning the next race. As you advance further into the game, the points you earn for winning races can be used to buy MACHINES from the STORE. Machines you can buy from the Store are DUNE BUGGY, BIPLANE, MONSTER TRUCK, TROPHY TRUCK and HELICOPTER. Once you have purchased a Machine from the Store, you can use it to race in the Freestyle Mode (see Freestyle Mode Training Video viewable from the Training Menu).
GAMEPLAY TIPS:
When doing a stunt, you can sustain the duration of the stunt by continuing to hold down the button used to enable the stunt (the longer you hold a stunt, the more points you are awarded for the stunt). If you pull off combos (multiple stunts), you can earn mega-points (you can pull off combos by queuing up multiple stunts before your first stunt has finished). The key to pulling off stunts successfully is making a safe landing after a stunt or stunts have been completed (if you dump your bike, the stunts are worthless).
In order to turn in a true Championship performance, you need to become proficient with the clutch. To accelerate quickly, press in the clutch then apply the gas and have your rider lean back on the bike. When you release the clutch, the bike will shoot forward with tremendous velocity (use this technique when coming off of the starting grid to get the jump on your competitors).
Before attempting the Career, Supercross or Nationals modes, it is suggested that you view the Training Videos featured on the Main Menu and get some insight into basic driving skills, clutching and turning, jumping and preloading, tricks, racing and freestyle competition.
If you win a race against a Machine in the Freestyle mode, you are awarded with the Machine and are free to race in it (you can also use points earned during the Career Mode to buy Machines from the Store that you can race in the Freestyle mode).
In Freestyle racing, you need to move from one waypoint to another in order to remain in the race (explore each course thoroughly to seek out short cuts that will enable you to reach waypoints in the shortest time possible). To unlock the next level in the Freestyle Mode, you must complete 3 of the 5 objectives, 3 of the 5 runs, and win the Machine Race.
Keep the front wheels on the turf, especially with the 500cc bikes (they tend to pop wheelies making them nearly impossible to steer).
You can jump for a greater distance if your press down on the directional pad precisely when you hit the tip of the jump.
Use a powerslide to cut through a turn without sacrificing much speed.

Most anticipated game in... years. I loved Motocross Madness. That game made me a hardcore gamer for the 3 years I played it. Too bad I probably won´t like it the same way I did back then.. but.. still... it´ll rekindle some old memories of hot-lapping and tag.. awww...
