My current games all for the 360:
NHL 07 - Still my favorite game on the 360.
RS Vegas - Just got it and like what I saw in the couple of hours with it last night.
Tiger Woods 07 - Played three rounds of this with my brother over the holiday weekend and it was very fun.
Tomb Raider - Finally took the wrapper off this game that I had sitting here for a few weeks and like it so far.
Have College Hoops and Smackdown vs Raw on their way from buy.com
Soooo many good games out now that it's hard to give time to all of them.

Nothing if you like shooters like that. I liked COD2. COD3 is basically the same thing from my perspective. It's more chaotic single player, for sure, and I never got into online with COD2 for some reason (and have yet to try COD3), but after experiencing the cover system in Gears of War and Rainbow Six, it's VERY hard for me to go back to "Crouch behind ledge, stand up, fire, crouch back down". So many button presses for something that other current "elite" games are making simple trigger pulls and directions on the sticks.tjung0831 wrote:What's wrong with COD3? The whole formula just feels dated and stale to me, as I'd been growing tired of shooters in general until GoW and R6V.

How is Gitaroo Man? I never played it on the PS2 and I see it's been released for the PSP. What type of game is it? Can you compare it to any other music/rhythm games? I've read a couple of good reviews for it but they didn't really elaborate on gameplay, just said it was basically a port of the PS2 game that worked even better with the PSP nub.GB_Simo wrote:FIFA 07, NBA 2K7, Ridge Racer 6 and TDU on 360, Gitaroo Man yet again and NASCAR 07 on PS2. Planning to add Guitar Hero to that as soon as the price drops, because I flat out refuse to pay anything like £50 for a game, and I'm halfway to giving 360 Madden 07 another chance.

I'm finding myself completely uninvolved in COD3 as well, although it has nothing to do with the cover system or lack thereof. The storylines that they force on you are incredibly hackneyed, and there is no way to just get to your checkpoint without having to sit through a long, painful intro. The save system is poorly done, as it will undo many of the objectives you achieved if you die, forcing you to start way further back than you should have to go. But the real killer is the dreadful enemy AI. Playing COD3 is largely a process of slowly inching along and gunning down unmoving German soldiers. It's well beneath the AI in Halo or Halo 2, much less GOW.
The multiplayer game is still a lot of fun, but I much, much prefer the single player game in COD2.
Worst part of the game by far. Drives me nuts.Leebo33 wrote:Yeah, that sucks. I rented COD3 but quickly swapped it for GOW for the reasons you mentioned. Loved COD2 though. It was only the second shooter I ever finished along with Halo.seanmac31 wrote:there is no way to just get to your checkpoint without having to sit through a long, painful intro.
That said, I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. Some of the firefight settings are pretty intense. I agree it trails behind all of the other recent shooters (GoW, Vegas, FEAR, etc) in innovative gameplay, though. I'm trying to beat it on hard on a rental.

Scoop, despite my love for Gitaroo Man I've never felt compelled to delve further into the music/rhythm genre, so I can't provide a point of comparison. I find it very difficult to describe the game without making it sound like complete rubbish, so as you go through what follows bear in mind that this is the fifth time I've owned the game, and that I have the soundtrack too...ScoopBrady wrote:How is Gitaroo Man? You play a happy little character called U-1, who discovers at the start of the game that he's descended from a long line of frankly odd backstory, the upshot being that he's the rightful possessor of some wonderful magical instrument called a gitaroo. Over the course of the game, various beings attempt to wrest said gitaroo from your grasp. You stop them from doing so in two ways - using the analog stick to follow the path of a line snaking its way across the screen (you're given a cone in the centre of the screen showing where you're aiming the stick, the idea being that you keep the line within the cone at all times) and hitting one of the face buttons in time to the music to attack enemies and sap their energy, and hitting the face buttons in sequence during Defence phases to fend off attack.
That's pretty much it. Simple though the premise is, the later tunes provide a genuine challenge, and completion of the unlockable Master mode requires skill that I don't imagine too many people possess. I don't, that's for certain. There isn't a song in the game that isn't memorable for one reason or another, and there's usually something entertaining happening on-screen too - the whole thing is so much fun that I'd recommend it quite happily to anyone.

I have more games in my collection that i've ever had since the NES/SNES/Sega Genesis days.
I have:
NBA 2K7
NCAA College Hoops 2K7
Rainbow 6: Vegas
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Gears of War
NCAA College Football 2007
Madden NFL 2007
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007
I've decided this gen to stop trading in games and getting ripped off. I've decided to stop selling games that I haven't finished just because I haven't played it in a while. I'll just keep them around and i'll make the effort to get back to them later. At $59.99, I'm going to stop taking losses on getting rid of them before i'm finished with it.
