If by world domination, you mean giving up late leads and points in consecutive games....then yes.RobVarak wrote:Jared wrote:Phillips scooped up the rebound from a shot off the crossbar by Angel to take a 2-1 lead.League beware! This play is apparently the cornerstone of Jared's plan for world domination.Angel lashed a long shot off the woodowork right into the path of a stampeding Phillips, who slammed home the equalizer.

The deadline for the full season is this Sunday, so I don't think it makes too much sense for you to start in now. Better that you join in for the next season, which we'll start a week from this Sunday. Next Monday, we'll start the team-selection process so look out for a seprarate thread congratulating this season's championship winner where we deal with team selection. All interested newcomers should post in that thread.Blublub wrote:Snate, I'd love to but only if you're sure you can't finish it out. If so, Zepp is this okay? I'm definitely up for exhibition games all the time, though!
Can we make it earlier...lets say 6:30? I can even play right now...7:30 is possible but I might have to quit mid game....My tag is XXXIV 34.FabulousBastard wrote:Cool.. about 7:30 - 7:45 work for you? I don't think I have you yet. Ah, fair enough - I didn't realize it was over that soon. I'll hone my skills or lack thereof in exhibitions for a week, then.Zeppo wrote: The deadline for the full season is this Sunday, so I don't think it makes too much sense for you to start in now. Juventus 1 - Roma 4
Shots 8/29
SOG 3/18
Fouls 2/11
Cor 3/9
Pos 44/56
Juve opened the Scoring in the 29th minute, catching Roma's goalie coming out for a ball, the pass crossed the face of goal and was headed home with authority. Roma took some time to find their legs, shots came often but the best chance pinged off the left post. Finally, with a few minutes left in the half, they tied it up on a beautiful ball slotted through to Cassano. Roma came out strong in the second half and added 3 more to their tally. Juve almost made it 5 as one of their defenders inexplicably took a shot on their own open net which luckily pinged off the crossbar.
Fun game Bubba... nice talking with you as always.
Zepp... I apologize, but I exited out before taking down the scorers names. Soon as I clicked it I knew I missed something!

Hey 34... don't know if you got my PM or not but obviously I didn't make 6:30. Sorry about that. It's just tough for me to play that early.XXXIV wrote:

Wednesday I'm available most of the day (I'll be working from home that day). Thursday I'll have a small window and Friday I'll be available all day again.
Let me know what works.
Same goes for you NYIsles! I need to play both of you twice.
Match Report
Lazio 1 Newcastle 4
No Stats due to disconnect.
Scoring:
Lazio: Muzzi
Newcastle: Shearer (2), Emre, Jenas
Newcastle avenged last season's away loss to Lazio with a 4-1 win marked by a brace from Harry Shearer. The first half saw a bushel load of Magpie chances go begging due to the inspired play of Peruzzi as well as poor finishing. Shortly before halftime, Shearer was spilled just inside the box and drew the PK. Taking matters into his own experienced hands, Shearer lashed a poweful strike past a helpless Peruzzi.
Shortly after half, an extended spell of possession saw Emre capitalize on an Ameobi through ball and drill one off the roof of the net from about 9 yards.
The Italians returned fire near the 50th minute, with Muzzi's spectacular header from an early cross by DiCanio. Given got fingertips to it, but was only able to push it off the post and into net. But the visitors responded while their hosts celebrated. Jermaine Jenas pounced on a loose ball and hammered in a 20-yard screamer. Shearer got his second shortly after that by heading in a ball from 10 yards from Jenas' corner.
Game 2
Newcastle 4 Lazio 1
SOG 20, 13
Tar 11, 6
FK 9, 13
Corner 5, 3
Offside 0, 3
Posses 56, 44
Scoring:
Viana (17'), Owen (30'), Ameobi (44')
Cribari (OG) (25'), Rocchi (88')
No bookings or injuries
Newcastle took the return leg of the season series with Lazio by an identical scoreline. The match took place in a blinding snowstorm, which assisted the Toon's efforts to bottle up Paolo DiCanio with an offside trap and physical play. The opening goal was created by Kieron Dyer, who was all over the park today, as his cross was misplayed by Peruzzi and headed in by Hugo Viana.
The 25th minute saw a harsh decision given to Cribari, as he was charged with a dubious own goal. Michael Owen headed a corner onto the bar with incredible ferocity and velocity. The ball rebouned off the post, into Cribari's backside and back into goal in the blink of an eye. The dubious goals committee will certainly have a look at that one. But they'll have no cause to check Owen's follow-up in the 30th minute. Left with too much space in the box, Owen banged in a tough shot from an accute angle past Peruzzi and into the inside of the side netting.
Ameobi ended the first half deluge with a first-time shot off of a short FK from Shearer, which the big man guided into the roof of the net. The second half saw Newcastle playing ferociously to deny the Italians a foothold on the icy pitch. Lazio did break through in the 88th minute, as a nice run of one-touch passing found Rocchi free in the area to slot one home. But it was too little, too late for the chilly Italians, who will certainly be happy to see Northeast England in their rearview mirror.
Good games, Mo. Just one of those nights, particularly the snow game. Good luck.

Man City Lose Second Consecutive Game
Aston Villa FC 5 : 3 Manchester City FC
Manchester City lost their second game in a row, this time on the road to Aston Villa. Villan superstar Angel recorded a hat-trick in a game that was never as close as the final score would indicate. Villa scored one off the left post, one off the right, and for a final humiliation one off the keeper's face, as they dominated from beginning to end.
The first half ended 3-0 for the home side, as Angel scored a brace within seven mintues, in between was Berger's first goal of the season. At the half, City made some adjustments, and cut the lead to two when Sibierski found the target in the 54th minute. But Philips pushed the lead back to 3 in minute 74, and ten minutes later, Angel completed his hat trick. City's Andy Cole broke through in the 85th minute, and Fowler scored in the 89th, but it was too little too late.
This is the second loss in a row for City, who now stand second with five games played, eight points behind Newcastle but with two games in hand. Third place Villareal are one point behind City, but with one game in hand.
Aston Villa 5 : 3 Man City
Villa: Angel (23', 30', 84'); Berger (27'); Philips (74')
City: Sibierski (54'); Andy Cole (85'); Fowler (89')
SoG 21 : 14
SoT 10 : 8
Corners 6 : 5
Fouls 5 (6) : 7
Offside 1 : 0
Poss. 51 : 49

Good game, Jared. I will have to break Angel's leg next time we play! It appears to be my only hope! Championship dreams are melting away like a Greenland Glacier for me here. Someome's got to take down those Toons, and fast! Good luck the rest of the way.

Cor 1, 6

Posses. 48, 52
Newcastle: Shearer (16', 23'), Owen 26'
An ten-minute scoring blitz by Newcastle was enough to dispatch a pugnacious and chippy ManCity. As the numbers indicate, the Blues were clearly out to physically intimidate the visiting Magpies in an effort to stop their high-powered offense. The strategy began to show some flaws midway through the first half, as Shearer converted two consecutive free kicks from just outside the area. Both shots scraped the woodwork, but the Newcastle skipper got the benefit of the bounce both times.
On 26 minutes, a sweet run of play saw quick passing from Babayaro to Ameobi to Jenas. Jenas played an inch-perfect through ball to Michael Owen, who found himself one-on-one with David James . Owen converted his chance with class. ManCity's defensive style finally exacted some payment from the visitors when a dangerous challenge felled Michael Owen, requiring his removal by stretcher and eventual substitution.
The second half saw few chances for ManCity to get back in the game, as Newastle kept up the pressure. Twice the woodwork, so benificent in the first half, denied Shearer his hat trick. ManCity did create a few scoring chances, notably on a wonderful breakaway by Robbie Fowler. But Given aggressively abandoned his line to shut down the veteran and denied the one-on-one opportunity.
Good game, Zep. I hate to see you in a streak like you're in, because I've been in those myself. It was just a month ago that I couldn't find a goal.

Match Report
Valencia 3
Juventus 3
Simply a great game that saw both teams come out with the best result. Valencia came out strong to begin the game scoring early with Baraja in the 10th minute. Juventus tried to right the ship after the early strike and finally got on the board in the 41' off a Viera header. Less than a minute later Trezequet slammed one from way outside the box to make the score 2-1. After half, Valencia scored to equalize the game at 2 with a strike from Aimar in the 46'. Valencia looked they had won the game after Auriello scored in the 57' but Del Piero scored in the 70' to get the game even.
Fun game Isles. See you on the ice soon.

Roma 2- Valencia 1
Shots 19/10
SOG 10/5
Cor 4/3
Foul 17/2
Off 9/1
Pos 50/50
Nonda 44' and 83'
Aurelio 37'
DeRossi - yellow
The first leg of yet a classic Italian matchup saw a very even game with Valencia playing the offside trap quite well and Roma getting the majority of shots. The crisp clear day at the Stadio Olympico yielded a fairly mild game with the sides fearing not to make the first mistake. Valencia struck first, but Roma evened the scor before halftime and took the 2-1 victory in the 83rd minute.
Valencia 2 - Roma 5
Shots 13/20
SOG 4/12
Cor 5/3
Foul 5/10
Off 2/4
Pos 43/57
Mista 17'
Angulo 29'
DeRossi 24'
Totti 64'
Montella 82'
Cassano 84'
Cufre 88'
Then we all hopped on the bus and traveled to Valencia for the second leg where it was wet and rainy. Apparently a lot of wine was share don the bus too, because errors were the staple of the second match. Slippery gloves, bad passes, and at the tail end of the match a complete letdown by the Valencia defense.
Again Valencia struck first with a chip by Mista in the 17th minute. DeRossi leveled it in the 24th only to relinquish the lead to Valencia before the half. Things settled down a bit in the second half until Totti leveled the match once again in the 64th minute. And all of a sudden when the 80th minute hit, the field tilted hard to the visitors favor. 3 goals rang home in the span of 6 minutes to seal the win for Roma.

Ok, 34... you're my last opponent to squeeze in before the deadline. Today or Tomorrow... PM me a time.
