College Hoops 2k7
Anyone pick this up yet.
I guess we might not see it until weds but I think I might pick it up. I liked NBA 2k7 but I'd rather play College BB.

No 360 roster files yet, but Steve at OS posted an excel roster file that people have been editing and updating. I haven't checked to see if it's finished, but it should be mostly done.snaz16 wrote:Are there rosters out already ?Bill_Abner wrote:Yep. Ashley is at school all day tomorrow. Bill look for me tomorrow night, we'll see if the Illini can chop down that giant.Bill_Abner wrote:Yep. Ashley is at school all day tomorrow. I'll be hooping it up with a non-injured Greg Oden

I played a quick game tonight and my first reaction is...
WOW. This game is superb. College atmosphere, rock solid gameplay that bests its NBA brethren (with better defensive play), excellent graphics, and more.
Seriously, even in one game I can tell this is the best college hoops game ever...

What schools appear when you go to a "play now" or "quick game"?
reason I ask is that when i go to that screen, I seem to always get Stony Brook as one of the teams - which i was shocked to see cause the school is only 20-25 minutes from me... ( i would have guessed they would use the big D1 schools)

Maybe change the conferences??nyisles16 wrote:What schools appear when you go to a "play now" or "quick game"?

My xbox live name is "The Zlax45"
Wow, don't say that too loud...EA might buy the NCAA license and shut this game down too.Sport73 wrote:I played a quick game tonight and my first reaction is...

My thoughts after a few games:
- Same gameplay as NBA2k which is a good thing, can't see where it has been improved like someone mentioned above. would love to hear what they see improved.
- Atmosphere is better, the crowd / stadium is much louder and there are some cooler transition / cutscenes
- maybe it is me, but the speed of the gawme seems faster then the NBA game. This is on default.
- Crappy menu system is back as was noted, ugh.
- Fouls seem to be spot on for a college gam,e on default. It was nice to play a 10 minute half and see both teams in the bonus with a good 3 minutes left.
- Player still missing wide open, uncontested layups on default. In fact I didn't see many dunks at ll in my 3 games. I'm amazed that this is still in the game, I don't mind the occasional uncontested layup miss, but seeing 4-6 a game is nuts.
- Haven't touched legacy to see what has changed yet.
Still the best college game out there, but i will refrain from busting a nut on it until I haven't given it more playtime.

I don't have any way to copy them from OS. I don't have whatever is needed to do that yet.sportdan30 wrote:Todd (Mizzourah),
If you've got the game and/or the rosters downloaded from OS, can I meet up with you sometime this weekend to copy them? I lost the Datel software, but I still have my memory card.
Thanks.
Dan

A few impressions after playing two games last night.
- Atmosphere is fantastic. A definite step up from 2K6. Some of the chants are rather corny though, but all in all it definitely adds to the college atmosphere.
- Control wise, I like the addtion of using the "Y" and "B" buttons for special dribbling moves (crossover, etc.) Also, and this to me is huge, you don't get stuck in those canned animations like you do in NBA 2k7. Now, it didn't bother me as much as it did some of you guys, but it's much improved in this game.
- Teamwork is the name of the game. I don't necessarily know how you can compare it to NBA 2K7. Players are constantly coming off screens, posting up, kicking it back to perimeter player, etc. To me at least, in NBA 2K7, you had to call for a screen, or you really had to run your select plays to a tee. Passes seem faster around the perimeter.
- On default, there are an abundance of steals. Too many in fact. I'm really hoping the steal and steal success sliders work. A lot of that though can be attributed to errant passing, and also you'll see the defenders with their hands up in the air trying to deflect the pass.
- Just like NBA 2K7, leave a man open from behind the arc, and you'll find yourself giving up a 3. If you work the ball around enough, you will occasionally find that open man. It's not exploited to any extent. It feels realistic. I'm not seeing too many wild 3's being thrown up by the computer.
- On default, I'm see a lot of uncontested layups missed and the occasional bonehead play by either myself or computer throwing the ball off the underside of the backboard. I'm guessing the computers plays smarter on All American and MOP.
- I do miss the pop ups for substitutions and coaching strategies during the gameplay. If they're there, I haven't figured out how to pull them up. Of course, you can sub during a stoppage of play by pulling on the left and right triggers.
- Almost forgot. Pregame warm ups are indeed pretty cool. I like how you can take control of your players shooting layups. It just adds to the pregame feel. You can pull up for J's if you like.
- The pregame speaches are rather weak. The coaches sound like they're 18. However, watching the players run out and getting all jacked up to play the game is cool. It feels and looks like a college atmosphere.
- I think both NBA 2K7 and CH 2K7 both play well, but I think CH is on another level. Fast breaks actually work, and the gameplay doesn't have that herky jerky feeling that NBA 2K7 sometimes feels like. There's a ton of new animations, and seeing the players use the backboard for layups is sweet looking.
- Graphically, it's a nice step up from CH 2K6, but a little behind NBA 2K7 in terms of the player models, but that's to be expected. However, I think the courts look great although I did notice a little fade on the some of them.
That's it. Because I'm a much bigger college hoops fan, NBA 2K7 will take a back seat to this game. Both games are entertaining, but CH 2K7 just feels more alive and exciting.

No worries. I'll figure something out. Might send off the memory card to Fairdale, or perhaps try and locate the software. Thanks for responding back.MizzouRah wrote:I don't have any way to copy them from OS. I don't have whatever is needed to do that yet.sportdan30 wrote:Todd (Mizzourah),

There is an NIT at the end of the regular season for teams not good enough to make the NCAA. They don't mention it on the "NCAA Tournament Selection Show" but it is there under Tournaments after you complete the conference tournament and the NCAA selections are made.
I am not sure if all the "Bubble" teams that don't make the dance make the NIT, I will try to check.
I think that fast breaks are too easy on the default difficulty level with no sliders. I was consistently able to take the PG from UNC and drive the length of the court and dunk or lay it in against Duke. But the default setup is too easy usually, so hopefully this can be fixed to toughen the AI defense.
Defense could be the problem in this game. I have several times played good defense until the shot clock was down to 5 only to have someone cut to the basket and be wide open for a quick pass and layup. But again, this was on default sliders.
Shooting percentages are also too high for both teams on default sliders.
As for important stuff:
Greg Gumble's graphics are improved
Billy still makes too damn many comments about "man to man defense"
In the year I simmed, Virginia and Nevada were both #1 seeds. Weird
