Thanks for making my decision so so difficult. How's the framerate? I hear it only slows down a little bit during cut scenes, but other than that it's real smooth.dave360 wrote:Bought it this afternoon and it's hands down the best game I've ever played. The cover system is amazing and the checkpoints are perfect, not too far apart and not too close together. The online co-op and multiplayer are fantastic as well.
Gonna rush to the nearest eb on the way home from work and pray they have some copies left. The game sounds fantastic. Online Co-op sounds like a blast. What other games allow you to play through the entire single player campaign using an online co-op?
"Be tolerant of those who describe a sporting moment as their best ever. We do not lack imagination, nor have we had sad and barren lives; it is just that real life is paler, duller, and contains less potential for unexpected delirium." -Nick Hornby
4 on 4 multiplayer is a kick in the head!!! Wow, where else can you have so much fun GETTING killed?! Laughter fills the lobby, which is what an online experience should be.
I got my first chainsaw kill, and my oh my...those with kids (like me) need to make sure the kiddos are FAR away...
Lots of fun, and the perfect complement to COD and R6 tactical, 'thinking man' shooters. Visceral in a way you've never played before...
I can't wait for more...

Open it...trust me...sportdan30 wrote:Well, I picked it up with a bit of hesitation. I'm going to wait to open it until I read some reviews from others on here. The store in Chesterfield, MO had plenty of copies. Must be reward for the Cardinals World Series Championship.

teal - you hit it right on the head.. the game was a blast to play online.. just the way people were killed, it was just too funny to watch... it's fun change of pace where there may be some strategy, but it seems to be just "get the gun & shoot".. it is a very nice change of pace from the SC's & GRAW's...
Damn! Gotta grab this at lunch tomorrow with my COD pre order.tealboy03 wrote:4 on 4 multiplayer is a kick in the head!!! Wow, where else can you have so much fun GETTING killed?! Laughter fills the lobby, which is what an online experience should be.

Well, I opened it. So far, so very enjoyable. It's gotta be the best looking first person shooter I've ever seen, although I'm hearing COD3 looks great as well. I'm digging the storyline, and cinematics are excellent. Gonna try this game online very soon. GOW has the potential to be exceptional. Time will tell.
PDZ as well. Rainbow always has, but I think you have to open the levels first in single player, which is silly.Sully wrote:Marvel: Ultimate AllianceLAking wrote:Gonna rush to the nearest eb on the way home from work and pray they have some copies left. But what's cool here is you can load your game in single player, and then send and invite, and your friend can join you without having to reload or restart. It's not quite the 'pop in, pop out' thing I imagined, but it's pretty neat.
I like that you can turn off the gore, because I thought it might turn me off, but there's a distinct cartoony feeling to the gushing blood, so it's not bothering me too much.
Overall, the thing is amazing looking and the animations crazy bodies-flying physics are out of control. I can't wait to get in on some multiplayer.

Multi is quite good. Maps are beautiful and add in a nice "curb stomp" and you've got a winner. I snuck up on a friend of mine, shot him and then curb stomped him and everyone started laughing. This game is not only great, but it has that "fun factor" going for it as well. This one will make the wait for Halo 3 a lot easier. .

Very fun online... sort of like Halo-meets-Killswitch-meets-Counterstrike. I was trying out my new 5.1 headset last night which is supposed to also act as a Live communicator, but I couldn't figure out the wiring and therefore couldn't talk. I thought about switching back to the normal headset, but the 5.1 really helped in locating enemies and such. Not that it did me any good.

This game f***in rocks! I have never seen graphics like this and never thought the graphics would carry over to multiplayer. You know how GRAW looks damn good single player but takes a noticeable enough dip in multi? Not this bad boy. Some of those maps we played last night were amazing looking. The water in that one level was the best I've ever seen.
Enough about the graphics though, gameplay is incredibly fun. 4-on-4 seemed perfect online and led to some pretty intense firefights. Aside from the voice problems some of us had at times this game definitely is a system seller. It might be the best all-around game I've ever played (graphics, gameplay, presentation, online). I'm glad it lived up to the hype for me.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Which headset did you get and how is it? I am very curious about those 5.1 headsets...Slumberland wrote:Very fun online... sort of like Halo-meets-Killswitch-meets-Counterstrike. I got the Tritton AX360 headphones:

They're pretty hot. A little expensive, but it was a birthday present to myself. It really makes things more immersive. A bit tricky to get the levels right, though.

Man I kept missing hte invites last night. You know how it is when you;re in an intense firefight in SP. Everytime I actually noticed one, and tried to accept it I wasn't let in.
I'm finding this game extremly hard in SP hardcore, I mean the AI is pretty damm good. It is definetly the best looking game i have ever seen and it AI is pretty top notch.
I'm not as wowed as everyone else, but i think that is due to my frustration at the difficulty and having not played MP yet.
COD3 today and RS next week. Good month for shooters.

What I do is use my headphones, set the voice to output via speakers, and then put the XBL headset around my neck and flex the microphone into a good position. Voilá! My headphones aren't 5.1, but that doesn't really bother me. But assuming the 'gaming' headphones with microphone are pricier, why pay that premium when you can use the XBL headset's microphone? They don't do any better with the volume of the voice chat, do they? That was something I was hoping would be part of the latest update, a little more volume available for voice chat through the headset and the speakers; SC is useless with the headphones since it has no volume control, and with GoW I have the volumes all the way down to two on a scale that goes to 10 or 11, just so I can hear the voice chat. Does anyone at Xbox test this stuff?
Hard to believe the F'n FedX guy lost the shipment of GOW to my local EB. I was there to pick up COD3 (which they had) and I inquired about GOW, figuring I would snatch up a copy while I was there. The manager told me the FedX guy lost track of it in Memphis and that it would be available Thursday. A big let down after reading the impressions you guys have been giving. I guess I'll just be playing COD3 tonight. Oh well, there are worse things happening in this world.

I got the Ear Force X2 headphones, and really like those. They're only stereo, so no 5.1, but they mimick some of that pretty well. And Zepp's right...in SC the voice chat function of it is useless, as you can't adjust volume levels. But having totally wireless headphones is nice.
In games like SC, I just wire up my old headset and wear it like normal, with the X2 covering the communicator. It's a bit cumbersome, but it works well.
Oh, and now that I'm done chasing that rabbit...GOW continues to impress. Had some great firefights in MP this morning...thanks for the invite, spook...
