Examples.

There's a big difference between putting away the AFC Champion in the SuperBowl, with an explosive passer, and worrying about a lousy 2-5 team which was self-destructing in the first half.

And knowing Taylor, it wouldn't be surprising if it was like a 10-yard pass and he couldn't be tackled.

Oh, we need plural now. Was there another time that the Bears supposedly ran up the score against the Niners besides today? Why do I need to provide more than one example to counter a single example that you claim from today?

Yeah, it's OK if Joe Montana does it because he's Joe F*cking Montana. But if Rex Grossman shreds your team, well, it lacks validity.

If anything, you should be more humiliated that Rex Grossman shredded your defense. Rex doesn't exactly have a bust reserved in Canton yet, but the Niners' defense sure made him look like Joe Cool today.

On the Taylor TD, Montana pump-faked Steve Atwater and went deep middle to Taylor. It wasn't a 10-yard slant with Taylor running the last 21 by himself.

Is that kettle alabaster yet?

Looking at the box score, the next-to-final 4th quarter TD was a 46-yard Montana-to-Wilson completion. The final one was a fumble return, so no issues there.

For the record, here is every play the Bears ran in the second half of this game. You will notice the longest passes were for 17 and 21 yards, both were short passes, and that drive in the 3rd quarter was a long one, not quick vertical passing that got them in scoring position quickly.

I agree. I've often wondered how he and Sterling are from the same gene pool. One is an articulate well spoken ex-athlete turned analyst. The other can be barely understood the way his mush mouth garbles words out. I like Dan and Phil on that show, but until Shannon is gone, I'll still be flipping between the ESPN and FOX pregame shows.

Hey Ninerfan, shouldn't you be more pissed at the Cheifs since they were up big on you at halftime but scored some more in the 2nd half? They put up 41 on you too, but no crying?

I think the ninerfans are pissed at the Bears because they kept cutting to Lovie in the 2nd half and he was just laughing his ass off. Can you blame him? I was watching the texans game and they flashed the halftime 41-0 score up on the tv and I LMAO!

(oh yeah, congrats to the redbirds).

Bears were throwing vertically, not handing the ball off. They could have gotten 10-yard gains every other rush play too. You apparently missed the cheap shots the Bears defense was taking too, for which they got two roughing.

Cite some examples. I know for a fact the 49ers never got up 41 points at half, or even 30 and then continued to throw downfield.

The Bears threw once on first down in the second half, the first play Griese came in, and that was a short pass. Nearly all their second-half passes were short passes, and they didn't throw deep hardly at all yesterday since the 49ers handed them easy points thanks to their clueless play.

I don't really care if a team runs up the score -- players are paid to play football for 60 minutes -- but there's no question the Bears dialed it down a notch after halftime.

WCO, I don't blame you for getting your panties in a bunch since you expected to see a professional football team take the field yesterday instead of the Niners cheer squad.

And for worst wimp move of the year, I nominate McCarthy for kicking a FG inside the red zone when his team was down 41-0. Way to inspire your team.

With a horseshit schedule all their own...

They definitely made a sacrifice to the scheduling gods this season. Aside from games at the NYG and Patriots and a home game against the Vikings, they have it really easy. I don't think any team can afford to take another team lightly in today's NFL, but I'll be surprised if they lose more than 2 or 3 games this year.

I will not start counting chickens yet. There's a lot of football left to be played. I just hope they can get home field advantage because they are definitely a better team at Soldier Field.

True... it's also not their fault that two teams that were quite solid last year -- Miami and Tampa Bay -- turned into crap overnight and are now laughers (home game laughers at that) on the schedule. In the old days there was no way an 11-5 division winning team would have lined up against two non-division train wrecks like the Niners and the Cardinals... but the NFL schedule is basically random now. I believe the only non-random games on their schedule is Seattle and New York.

It's also a particularly bad year in terms of crap teams -- a lot of teams have easy schedules because about 1/3 of the league is just terrible.

The two biggest surprises to me have been the Eagles mediocrity and the Ravens record. The Eagles should really be undefeated, too -- they have the talent to be the best team in the NFC. I didn't get to watch the game yesterday, but I was shocked at the result. Are they quitting?

With the Ravens, you look at that team on paper, especially offensively, and they should be terrible. But with wins against the Chargers and at the Saints, I have to think they are kind of legit. They're defense just forces turnovers like crazy and either scores or sets up easy scores for the offense. If they beat Cincy this week they should be able to cruise to the division title.

Guess I should get my facts straight, too.

I will say that the Niners have the potential to reboud next year. Alex Smith had a rough day but I was impressed with his mobility. Gore looks like a great find for them, and Bryant can make plays. If they can get some semblance of a defense they could become competitive again. Their d-line in particular just looked terrible yesterday -- truck-sized running lanes and no real pressure on the QB at all.

You can only play and beat the teams you're scheduled against. With the exception of 2 games, the Bears have destroyed these bad teams. I personally don't think Minnesota is that bad, guess tonight will say a lot. I also don't buy that Seattle didn't have alexander and that made a difference.

But any team can step up, ask Pittsburgh if they thought Oakland would be a problem. The 3 game road stretch will speak volumes on who the Bears are. Even though the Jets are skitzo, traveling to the east coast 3 weeks in a row is not fun for anyone, let alone to play football twice in the Crapolands and once in New England. I have never seen any team draw that kind of road trip, maybe it has happened but I don't remember it.

If the Bears win 2 of those 3 games i will be impressed, if they win all 3 look out.

Wow, the Bears were pretty embarrassing. Guess all that talk about them rolling over the Dolphins was ridiculous. Just goes to show anyone can win any week. It's not like the Dolphins didn't try to help them win with some absolutely ridiculous penalties. But hey, I'll take it.

Turnovers Kill...Grosman was horrible.

As for the Rams...They cant win being -3 in the TO battle...especially when they give up 170 rushing yards.

Im looking ahead to the 2007 season with great ptimism.
