Wow, lots on here today. where to begin...
Lovey and the Bears clasless...Ha Ha...get a clue homer.
Michael Irvin has been and always will be a "look at me/ and/or the cowboys moron.
Speaking of which, when/and or/how the hell did they become "America's team?
Most of you , especially DB on the FLA game (it was just a wrestling match? a guy took his helmet off and swung it as a weapon and another stomped on the guy on the ground?! If that isn't homer blinders I don't know what is.) need to step back and take a reality check.

To which I said both of those guys are idiots. Wrestling match outside of those incidents, also started by FIU...not FLA. Read the thread.laurenskye wrote:Wow, lots on here today. where to begin...

They're in a class of their own.

Yeah, but they didn't actually score another point. And you can't exactly take an entire half off in the NFL... too many crazy things can happen. Although I must say, I don't think that 49ers team resembles in any way shape or form that old Bills team that pulled a trick on the Oilers...wco81 wrote:Lovie Smith and the Bears were pretty greedy today after a 41-0 first half. He kept the first stringers in there through the 3rd quarter and the Bears took a couple of roughing the passer penalties trying to kick a team while it was down.
Griese comes in and the first thing he does is try a pass. Other than Griese, it still seems to be first-stringers on both sides of the ball.
Well the 49ers aren't the team that's going to hit back but here's hoping some other team does it in the playoffs.
What a bunch of classless shits da Bears are.

Talk about the pot calling the f***in kettle black. The 49ers have a history of running up the score on the Bears and that's exactly why the Bears played the way they did today. You just hate the Bears. If the Bears were classless today than the 49ers have been classless since the 80's. Whatever, they kicked the 49ers ass today and that made me happy.wco81 wrote:Lovie Smith and the Bears were pretty greedy today after a 41-0 first half. Tiki Barber has forgotten more things about class than Michael Irvin ever will know. Michael Irvin couldn't fill a thimble with his knowledge of class.SoMisss2000 wrote:Irvin owned Tiki's ass this morning on Countdown. Irvin gave an opinion, Tiki responded with a personal attack. Anyway, I rather be a quitter than a druggie.
When it comes to dignity, Irvin NEVER will own Tiki Barber. EVER.

Geez, I didn't know the NFL instituted a Charlie Brown rule like Pop Warner.wco81 wrote:Lovie Smith and the Bears were pretty greedy today after a 41-0 first half. Let me see: Did the Niners pull their starters at halftime in their 55-10 dismantling of the Broncos in the Super Bowl?
Didn't think so.
Your team sucks. Deal with it. I'm a Bills' fan, so I can give you some tips on how to cope.

So the Bears did run up the score then, based on ancient history you say.ScoopBrady wrote:Talk about the pot calling the f***in kettle black. I think it has more to do with recovering after a previous bad game more than settling old scores before most of these players were even in the league and long before this coaching staff was on the scene.
But if running it up on a crappy team makes your season, then bravo.
Actually, I think it was very classy what the bears did in the 2nd half, not try to score. If they really wanted to run it up, they would have scored at least 70 points today vs that niners team.
And most of you guys are right, talk about running up the score, just look at the Bill Walsh 49ers. When his teams were up big at half, he never took off in the 3rd qtr, he kept scoring on the other team until late 4th qtr.

49ers weren't up 41-0 in that SuperBowl and throwing for more or going for it on 4th down to put up another 7, dipshit.

Ya but they didnt try to score, thats the point. They ran most of the 2nd half If I recall (was switching channels between games). I guess now 49er fans feel how rest of the other nfl fans use to feel when Walsh was doing this to the other teams.wco81 wrote:No s*** the 49ers suck. edit/added : WTF is up with the Eagles!?!?
Bears were throwing vertically, not handing the ball off. They could have gotten 10-yard gains every other rush play too. You apparently missed the cheap shots the Bears defense was taking too, for which they got two roughing.Inuyasha wrote:Actually, I think it was very classy what the bears did in the 2nd half, not try to score. Cite some examples. I know for a fact the 49ers never got up 41 points at half, or even 30 and then continued to throw downfield.
I'm critical of high school and college teams running up the score with starters since there's often a big talent gap, but if paid professionals can't stay within 40 by the end of the first half, tough.
If I was a Bears fan, I probably would have liked to see Rex on the sideline earlier due to his injury history, but with a 50-some man roster, it isn't like mass subs can come in.
Great win by the Colts today. Peyton didn't let the team lose yet again this year. As I've said before, I don't have much hope that they can win the Super Bowl, but it'll at least be fun to watch them until January hits.

But the point is they didnt score in the 2nd half. If you score 41 points in the first half easy, I am sure you could probably put up another 3 or 7 if you wanted to. At the end, they didnt want to score in the 2nd half. I can't see how you can call that no class. Now if they scored another 30 points in the 2nd half, then maybe I would agree with you.
Your reaction is why everyone outside of SF hates niners fans. They are so smug when their team is doing well, but when they get the same deal handed down to them, they cry that it's unfair. It's not going to make the niners any better rooting for another team to lose.
Also, what's up with Mike Nolan. I could see year 1 losses like these, but these losses should not happen in year 2.

So then what is the point? In a game that's a business, the NFL, a team is supposed to sit out its starters in the second half?wco81 wrote:No s*** the 49ers suck. That isn't the point dickhead.

As Dave said, this isn't high school football. These guys are professionals. Are they supposed to play at half-speed? Take the game off? That's how guys get hurt.
The Bears' second string probably could have ripped the tits off the Niners today.
I've never seen a guy whine more over a shellacking. Your team lost -- what difference does it make whether it was by 1 or 41? Take your wounds like a man and remove your dress when it's convenient. Make a tampon run to the convenience store if your flow is too heavy, for Christ's sake.
If anything, you should look at the Bears and only hope that the Niners can achieve that kind of dominance again someday.
Your pot is getting so black that it's calling the kettle an albino.
Take care,
PK

Yup. I guess you could argue if the niners expected the bears to sit out their starters in the 2nd half, then what were the niner starters doing in there in the 2nd half? Should Mike Nolan have benched Alex Smith and the rest of the starters in the 2nd half and wave the white flag? It goes both ways.pk500 wrote:

anyway, f'n Eagles are killing me. After that Dallas win, I thought we were on our way but they've tanked since then.
That's what I wonder. There are a lot of fans saying we must "stay the course," despite these lopsided defeats occurring even more than in Nolan's first year.Inuyasha wrote:Also, what's up with Mike Nolan. I could see year 1 losses like these, but these losses should not happen in year 2.
You have to question this coaching staff's game preparation and player development. Players continually make really dumb decisions on the field and that has to be a reflection on the coaching.
Nolan is a former defensive coordinator who didn't try to acquire any defensive players and is presiding over the worst defense in the league.
Again.
Bears were trying to score. 49ers stopped handing the ball to the Bears for short drives like they were doing in the first half.. Bears went for it on 4th down. Now they wanted to pitch a shutout and I can see them pulling out the stops to prevent scores. But make no mistake, he tried to put up more points.
I thought he was a good hire for them but I wonder now. If you have 2 weeks analyze Denny Green's gamplan vs the Bears that was pretty effective vs their offense, and you can't come up with anything, that's pretty bad. The 'stay the course' deal sounds too much like W. It's Nolan's way or the highway?wco81 wrote:That's what I wonder. And wouldn't you know it, this running-up of the score by the Niners just so happened during Super Bowl XXIV on football's biggest stage, not Week 8 of the regular season:
San Fran led, 34-3, (THAT'S A 31-POINT LEAD; JUST HELPING YOU WITH THE MATH) in the third quarter. Elway was intercepted by Brooks. Two plays later, Montana ripped open the deep middle of the Denver defense again, this time to Taylor for 35 yards and a 41-3 lead.
Is that vertical enough for you during a blowout?
To be fair, that was during the Seifert regime, not Walsh. So Quiet Man George was just as big of a prick as the rest of them.
Take care,
PK

I don't think it was a matter of "running up" the score, but that's neither here nor there because: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS RUNNING UP THE SCORE IN THE NFL!
If you don't like the multi-millionaires kicking your ass, then get your multi-millionaires to block, tackle, and score...and in the 49ers specific case today: catch the ball!
This isn't college where recruiting creates an uneven playing field and imperfect distribution of talent. This is a pro league with a salary cap, draft and schedule balancing all of which exist to create parity. If some organization can't stay competitive that's nobody's fault but its own...and Bears fans know all about that!
Leave the crying to the NCAA and HS ranks where it belongs.
And if appropriate, thank Jah that you're not a Steelers fan. Losing to THIS Raiders team is damn near enough to cancel out a Super Bowl title LOL
