There has been many a team when I have been tempted to thump one of my little numbered dots in the mush after the latest in a series of FM related disasters.

Exactly, sometimes you just have to show them who's boss!

Hmm...Chesterfield 2 West Ham 1

1 draw and 7 defeats since the Argentinian £30m duo turned up ?

Altogether now...

'TAXI FOR PARDEW' :D

That scoreline against another EPL team sounds familiar.

There are few things that soothe your own misery quicker than observing someone else's :D

A heads-up for those of you with Sirius satellite. There's a new show on 125 called The Football Show. It's hosted by Charlie Stillitano and Giorgio Chinaglia and is absolutely brilliant.

Chinaglia is every bit as loopy and edgy as you would expect. They have tremendous guests. They've had a ton of national team coaches. They had Joe Cole on today just minutes after the Carling Cup game. Great chemistry between the hosts, great guests and a good format. Check it out.

Sirius is doing a great job expanding its soccer programming, and the WSD guys were intimating that there is a big announcement soon about adding even more.

Klinsmann is talking with the U.S. federation about the men's national team job:

The Milan game was a thriller. Just as I thought Inter had it all wrapped up, AC kept coming back and they almost tie the game. I don't know about the red card on Materazzi though.

To the EPL, bad boy Rooney scores a hat trick, he's showing good form lately. Liverpool also had a good game, P. Crouch did his thing and Villa finally loses one.

Now I'm really starting to worry about this Gulati era. I don't think it's wise to accept that invitation without first hiring a coach. In fact, I think it's downright stupid. I think Arena was spot-on with everything he said about Gualti and the direction of US Soccer, and I am very scared. I don't doubt the Copa America could be good for the squad, but scheduling problems are a very real issue, and to accept it without even consulting the coach is bad news.

Now Gulati is giving himself until the end of the year to hire a coach. I fear the damage done in this time of vaccuum could be very hard to identify, and could take a long time to fix. Pull the freaking trigger already, it's the most important part of your job. Fire him in a year if you made the wrong choice, but this 'no chef in the kitchen' is a disaster.

Sunil said last month when news of the invite came that he was going to talk to each of the candidates about their thoughts on the invite before deciding, and that the target for hiring someone was November.

Now that he has formally accepted, I can only hope we'll see a coach named within a week or two. Klinsmann has finally admitted he is in talks with US Soccer, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that he is the guy.

Send a youth team to the Gold Cup, full squad to the Copa America.

Montreal Habs owner G. Gillett is supposedly one of the bidders for Liverpool.

Tell him to get in line. There've been more tycoons linked with Liverpool over that last 4 years than I can even count.

If they get tired of waiting, there is a team with a better stadium and smarter, non-scouse supporters just 35 miles to the east, playing in an attractive sky blue kit.

Based on the latest accounts, you could probably buy yourself Man City for around £85 million, though I seriously doubt that anyone who made their fortune themselves would be sufficiently deficient in business sense to do so..

Zeppo,

All five coaching finalists were asked if they would approve of the team playing in the Copa America, and all three said yes (according to Gulati).

I can't wait, and hope we play in it every time it comes. (I also hope we can get MLS teams into the Copa Libertadores...but that's probably a few years away from happening.)

I've read some rumors that say that Klinnsman might not be able to take the job due to his connections with Adidas.

I read those rumors too, but frankly I have a hard believing that to be true. He really couldn't coach a team because they happen to wear Nike uniforms?

I guess my question is what relationship could he still have with Adidas? I can't imagine him having that big of a name over in Germany when Adidas has Kahn, Ballack, Klose, etc. signed to their company.

I heard that J. Klinsmann wants a four year contract as US national team coach until the 2010 World Cup in SA and to have far more power than at his time as Germany helmsman. He wants full responsibility over the national team, the Olympic outfit and junior teams. Whether Gulati grants him all that power remains to be seen.
