MLB 07 announced! IGN calls it one of the surprise games of the day to be announced; why is anyone's guess. Let's hope 989 doesn't mess it up.

So is this game different than MLB 07 The Show? The Show already had a release date of 3/1/07. I preordered the game when I preordered my PS3. If these are in fact two different games, then I feel sorry for 989 because they don't stand a chance going up against The Show.Kazuya wrote:MLB 07 announced! Not sure why, but Sony is going off the deep end. I don't know how anyone can efend their recent actions and below is just the latest....

While I wish Sony wouldn't do things like that, what is per se wrong with them enforcing their legal rights?DivotMaker wrote:Not sure why, but Sony is going off the deep end. I don't know how anyone can efend their recent actions and below is just the latest....

While they may be "enforcing their legal rights", the Empire is throwing its weight around in a manner that is NOT good for consumers or companies like Lik-Sang who sells hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Sony merchandise. Please don't try justifying this behavior because it is simply more bad press that Sony does not need.....Naples39 wrote:While I wish Sony wouldn't do things like that, what is per se wrong with them enforcing their legal rights?DivotMaker wrote:Not sure why, but Sony is going off the deep end. I'm hardly a Sony fanboy here, but I simply can't see anything wrong with a company protecting its assets by stopping a business from illegally exporting their product.DivotMaker wrote:While they may be "enforcing their legal rights", the Empire is throwing its weight around in a manner that is NOT good for consumers or companies like Lik-Sang who sells hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Sony merchandise. Second, I'm not even sure what that last sentence means. Sony is getting a lot of bad press recently, so no one should defend them and say certain bad press is unwarranted?? Don't want this thread to go too far OT, I just don't think I understand your point.

It is real simple....Sony is playing bully and being selective as to how they enforce their "legal rights". Looks like Sony is playing favorites while in the meantime forcing a major Asian online retailer out of business. Guess I am just sick and tired of the whole Sony "Empire" and their attitude. This story is just another example of how they like to throw their weight around at the expense of a company who is MAKING THEM MONEY.
Okay, last post on this topic.
Obviously Sony doesn't think Lik-sang is MAKING THEM MONEY in the long run, or else they wouldn't have sued them. Sony wouldn't have sued them if they didn't think it was in their best interests, as I can't imagine Sony brought this lawsuit for shits and giggles.
You're tired of the behavior of Sony's empire, so now you're gonna go back to playing your Microsoft system? (That is a rhetorical question). And as far as anti-piracy, Nintendo is as aggressive as anyone. But then again, none of this has to do with the PS3, so I'll stop my questioning here. If you feel that you don't want to buy Sony's new system because of this lawsuit, fine, that's your prerogative.

Geezus...you are trying way too hard to make this into something it is not. I am sick of Sony's attitude and their recent business activities. The situation with Lik-Sang has nothing to do with my buying or not buying a PS3. I decided that I was not buying a PS3 at launch due to the ridiculous pricing. Ever since E3, Sony has shot themselves in the foot and each day it seems as if they are looking for new ways to piss off their business partners and customers.Naples39 wrote:If you feel that you don't want to buy Sony's new system because of this lawsuit, fine, that's your prerogative.
Better reason not to buy at launch is that there aren't any compelling titles.
Price isn't likely to change by middle of 2007, by which time there may be some compelling exclusives like Motor Storm or Heavenly Sword.
If it's about NCAA, Madden, NBA2K or WE, well you can get those on the lower-priced X360 now, with the same graphics and probably much more refined online interface for people willing to pay for that interface.
Unless it really bombs or there's a price war, there probably won't be a price reduction before 2008.

What's Motor Storm, WCO? Any time I hear something with motor or racing in the title, my antennae raise.
Take care,

It was demo'd with KillZone at the 2005 E3. They showed a lot of mud flying into windshield but like most of the demos then, it was a "target render."
Recently some people thought this game might have a chance of approaching those demo visuals.
But they use a lot of motion blur to hide the details and the complexity of the car models don't seem to be quite the same as in the demo.
In those trailers, the physics kind of look floaty. I know the cars are suppose to be bumping above uneven terrain but it just looks like the vehicles have no sense of weight.
Probably more of an arcadish offroad racer than a sim.

With the videos I've seen of it, I would call it Offroad Burnout. That's what it reminds me of the most. Looks good, and should be a fun game.wco81 wrote:It was demo'd with KillZone at the 2005 E3. I would agree with that. If you don't have a 360, I could see it. I've gotten less critical of the PS3 pricing since they revealed the $500 unit will have HDMI. If you have the money to spend and are jonesing for a Blu Ray player, I don't think they are overcharging. It's expensive, for sure, but they are packing a lot of technology in there.wco81 wrote:Better reason not to buy at launch is that there aren't any compelling titles.
But if you already have a 360, I couldn't see getting a PS3 right now, and for gaming I think the 360 is a better value.
I agree.. I am selling my launch systems. However, I do look forward to blue ray + netflix. I am also anxious about trying out the Linux distro for the ps3.Brando70 wrote:I would agree with that. Are you sure Sony will let you try this out? I haven't read anything about it and don't claim to know anything about it but going on past actions I highly doubt Sony wants people messing around with Linus on their PS3's. Just look at their fight with homebrew on the PSP. They know that people messing around with Linux will be able to get games to boot without the disc. That's exactly what they don't want.bdunn13 wrote:I am also anxious about trying out the Linux distro for the ps3.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

You could also run linux on the ps2(a sony version). However, this version did not run directly on top of the hardware.... I believe I questioned on the first page of this thread if this version would run through an emulator or not.
