That was his rant when he coached the Colts.dbdynsty25 wrote:I think BK was referring to the fact that the question posed to Mora was something to do with the playoffs and he started his statement "PLAYOFFS?" and then went on to discuss how horrible his team was and that they shouldn't be thinking about the playoffs.

While Mora used the term "sucked" in his rant with the Colts, his classic and infamous "WE SUCK" rant came when he was coaching the Saints, and Benson sh*tcanned him shortly thereafter.
I'm 99.5 percent sure of that.
Confirmation from a Web site:
>>>1996: On October 20 after a 19-7 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Head Coach Jim Mora rips into his team at a press conference declaring, "We Suck". One day later Mora, who had coached the Saints for 10 and half seasons, and brought them to the playoffs resigned. LB Rick Venturi would take over for the rest of the season. The Saints would end up with an awful 3-13 record, giving some credence to Mora's statements.<<<
Mora quit. I thought Benson fired him.
Take care,
PK

I miss Jim Mora press conferences.
The only thing that rivals those now, are the weekly Bill Parcells vs. the Dallas Media press conferences on Monday Mornings.

I thought Herm said the right thing.... sometimes reporters ask the dumbest question. Every coach wants to win every game, regardless of record (unless you are ML Carr and the owner told you to tank the season, hehe).pk500 wrote:Don't forget this Herm Edwards classic when he was with the Jets:

No doubt. Tom Dempsey would have been a footnote if that ball was 3 yards back, because that kick would have been good from 65 yards.webdanzer wrote:Wow, that Philly loss sucked.
Kudos to the Tampa kicker though.

Lord, the patellar tendons, too. That just hurts even thinking about it. Next to the Achilles, that might be the largest tendon in the human body.lexbur wrote:Geeze, Baxter blew out BOTH knees...

Can any doctors confirm? Tony (MUTTS)?

I tore a pateller tendon in my right knee playing baseball a few years back. It is a b*tch to rehab from and you will NEVER be the same after it. You usually take out about 3/4 of the cartelidge in your knee when you do it, so arthritis is in his future. It took me about 2 years to play at full speed, and about 4 to play without pain.
On the good side, I had an awesome doctor (the Diamondbacks ortho surgeon) and a good rehab clinic (Donovan McNabb works there in the offseason in Phoenix, well at least until this year)...so I know I got good care, not just from some shmo off the street.

Anyone hear the latest on the Denny Green situation in Arizona? It was reported on ESPN that he will be gone after the season and maybe as soon as next week.
I still don't know why people think he's a great coach, I mean what has he really done in the NFL as a head coach? He won some games in Minnesota but that division has sucked for some time before Tampa got good.

Denny Green got two teams to the NFC Championship game. Yeah, he lost both of them, but getting there is more than a lot of coaches have done. Looking at his stint in Minnesota, he made the playoffs 8 out of 10 years, going 5-8 (after losing his first four) if I'm adding correctly.laurenskye wrote:I still don't know why people think he's a great coach, I mean what has he really done in the NFL as a head coach? I wouldn't say he's a great coach and I definitely wouldn't want him in charge of my team, but to act like he hasn't done anything isn't fair to the guy. Living in the Twin Cities, I'm amazed at the hatred fans still have for him.

He never had a losing year in 9 years at Minnesota and had 5 seasons where his team won 10 games or more. His playoff record sucked ( 4-8 ) but I can see why he was given another shot. He certainly makes more sense than a lot of the retreads that get hired.laurenskye wrote:Anyone hear the latest on the Denny Green situation in Arizona? However, his time is definitely up in Arizona. With the fans at least excited about Leinart, a coaching move could at least give them some shred of hope for next year, especially if they bring in a name-brand guy.
There are a lot of people on this board much more knowledgeable than myself when it comes to the NFL, but it just seems like it is damn near impossible to be a successful coach at Arizona and Detroit.laurenskye wrote:Anyone hear the latest on the Denny Green situation in Arizona? I swear you could put almost anyone in this position and the results would be the same. Put bkrich at head coach, db at defensive coord., pk at offensive coord., XXXIV at special teams and they would win as many games as the recent staffs.
