Doen't matter where they were ranked when they played them. In the BCS, Strength of Schedule takes in to account current records and rankings. Because pre-season rankings underate some teams, and overrate others. See Auburn 2004.pk500 wrote:Arkansas wasn't ranked when SC mauled it in Week 1. They are also 6-0 and have yet to play a team with a record below .500, while Michigan has several wins against teams with poor records.
Sorry, but I'm still not seeing SC over Michigan. Michigan destroyed a No. 2 -- albeit a media-inflated No. 2 -- on the road. SC doesn't have a win of that quality yet this season.
Take care,

36 point win vs. the SEC West leader will score points in the BCS. Again USC has wins vs. 2 ranked teams, and 6 wins against teams with records of .500 or above.
Michigan has 1 win against a ranked opponent and have beaten 4 teams with records currently below .500. (Vandy, C.Michigan, Michigan St. and Minnesota).
Looking at it from a pure SOS perspective, Michigan doesn't have much of an argument, although if I had a vote I would rank them #2.
