What an intense game. Weaver is pitching unbelieveable.
It all falls on Carpenter's shoulders now. He's got to pitch like he's capable of pitching. With the way the Cards bullpen has been going, he just needs to give them seven solid innings. Is that too much to ask?
If this series goes seven, I'm not feeling too confident. They need to go in relaxed, but with a sense of urgency at the same time. Worse case scenario, they have Suppan starting game seven.
By the way, anyone catch Pujols comments after the game with Ken Rosenthal? Said Glavine has good stuff, has won 290 games, is going to Hall of Fame, etc. What a way to rebound from some idiotic comments earlier in the week.
The Cards have a great shot in Game 6... they have the best pitcher in the National League for the last two seasons on the hill. It was definitely a calculated move by Albert to stick in some praise for Glavine, but I thought it was a good gesture. It was good to clear the air and let everyone know that he knew about Tom Glavine and his place in baseball.

you laugh at me?" - Del
If Carpenter has his curveball going it'll be tough for the Mets to come back, especially if Suppan finishes the job for the Cardinals. Carpenter struggled with commnad in game two but once he's ahead of the hitters, he's one of the top in the league.
Being impartial I would love this series to go to 7.

What a way to rebound??
That's called damage control.
i would have loved to hear what LoDucca actually said to Albert in the second game.. he didnt comment further on WFAN other than "they had some words"...
On Paper Cards should have an edge definitely in the pitching department, but based on what the rookie did tonight, who knows? And if theMaine core continues to get some hits, Reyes, Delgado, Beltran and Green, I'll be picking them to advance to the WS.
Totally... it seems like Wagner's arsenal is a flat slider with fastball mixed in rather than a fastball with a wicked slider mixed in. He can still get guys out with that slider when he throws it in the dirt on a two-strike count, but he threw so many lame sliders last night, it made me want to eat a puppy and send him the cleaning bill. No, I don't know what that means either. Loduca must share some of the blame as well... but damn it, Loduca is great. He was such a key pickup by Minaya.
Well, if the Cards can't manage to win games against the likes of John Maine, Oliver Perez, Darren Oliver, etc. then they don't deserve to advance on to the World Series. Seriously, those three pitchers, perhaps minus Maine who looked decent last night are 4th and 5th starters.
I'd be more confident with Suppan pitching at home, but this year his road record is poor. Pitching on the road in a raucous environment, not to mention Game 7 is going to be difficult enough.
Heck of a series. Whoever wins, I'm rooting on the NL.
Mets have the momentum with a better offense and its a home game...I take the Mets tonight...even with 3-13 Oliver Perez pitching. That being said, NL loses to the Tigers.
Reports are that there's a 80 percent chance of rain. There's a possibility the game could be rained out. Could you imagine if they have to play Game 7 on Friday night, and either N.Y. or St. Louis has turn around and go to Detroit for Game 1 of the W.S.?!?! Advantage Detroit.

Without a doubt, what a killer for the Cards. I want to puke, and just woke up my kids screaming at Chavez. What's more amazing is that he botched the foul ball just earlier, then he pulls that Edmonds-esque catch out of his ass. Speaking of Edmonds, what in the hell was he doing rounding 2nd base? That was either a HR or an out, get back to 1st Jimmy!

Apparently that catch is still in Rolen's head, nice toss to the guy in the 3rd row there Scotty.
I blame LaRussa. Instead of starting the hot support players, he puts in designated for assignment Wilson in LF (instead of Duncan), pouty Rolen (instead of Spiezo), and the cyborg in RF (instead of Taguchi).
