<b>Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 40 GB MP3 player, with more than 6,300 songs loaded on unit.</b>

-- Songs are from nearly every genre under the sun.

-- Each song contains pristine ID3 tags with at least song name, band name and genre. Some ID3 tags also include album name and year album was recorded.

-- Every file's volume has been normalized to a constant level to eliminate adjusting of volume because of different rip levels.

-- Unit includes driver and Creative music transfer software.

-- Unit includes carry case with belt clip, AC power cord and original earbud headphones.

-- Unit is in excellent condition, as it hardly has left my desk and never has left the carrying case in the last two years.

-- More product details and pictures: http://us.creative.com/products/product ... oduct=9288

PM or e-mail me at pkcny@yahoo.com for a list of the songs on the player in either HTML (3 MB), Excel (1.5 MB) or text (700 K, hard to read) format.

<b>Bottom line: $350, shipped.</b>

Thanks,
PK

PK,

Are you selling it for so much because it has so many songs on it? If not, you're dreaming if you think you can get that much for a player that is 100-150 bucks nowdays if you look at the ebay market. Just curious.

Yes, because it has 6,300 songs on it. That would cost $6,200 if you purchased each song at iTunes individually or more than $5,000 if you bought them as albums at iTunes. Or if you downloaded the stuff through file sharing and processed every ID3 tag and normalized volume for every track, it would cost you hundreds of hours of time.

I'm not willing to give away all of the time and effort I put into this collection. Hundreds of hours, easily.

If somebody already has a ton of MP3's, I can see where this item would seem overpriced. But for someone who is just getting into the MP3 game, this is a hell of a deal on a like-new, excellent MP3 player and a very cool collection of tunes from nearly every corner of the musical spectrum.

Take care,
PK

Somebody buy it, because I have a feeling PK's buying an iPod when it sells. That's the 6th sign. When the oceans turn to blood the apocolypse is upon us...

You noticed the coincidence of the selling price and the price of a certain new Apple product, my friend. :)

I've been thinking of selling my Nomad as well and upgrading to another unit, but I'll probably delete all the songs off it first. I've probably purchased 75% of the tunes on there but there is something about sellling downloaded songs that just feels even more dirty than just listening to them. I can semi-rationalize that the stuff I download I would never buy anyway, but I would lose that if I sell stuff I downloaded for a profit. I'm not trying to pass judgment on anyone. I just wonder how others are handling it.

Fair enough, Leebo. I see it another way.

First, about 250-300 CD's worth of songs on my player -- not sure of the exact number -- were purchased. So that alone makes my price a bargain.

Second, you're right: It is fundamentally wrong for someone to have to buy something that was free. But that's not what a person is buying with this song library. They're buying my time.

I spent hundreds of hours -- I'm not kidding -- finding these tunes, filling in the ID3 tags with perfect spelling and complete information, normalizing the volume, making the bit rates constant, etc. These are not just random tunes thrown on the player with incomplete tags, misspelled tags, missing tags, irregular volume and bit rate levels. They are pristine, perfect.

I have no qualms charging a premium for that time.

Sure, tunes downloaded from iTunes or Rhapsody land into your MP3 player with perfect tags and volume levels. But they also cost 99 cents per tune or $9.99 per album. Multiply that by 6,300 songs, and I think the surcharge for my time is a bargain.

In essence, I have taken care of everything with these tunes. If the average price of this player with no tunes is around $150 on eBay, then you're paying $200 for easily 200 hours of my time. So my surcharge is about $1 per hour, or less, for my time.

That's how I justify it, and I sleep easy at night. Others disagree, and I respect their opinion and stance completely, just as I respect yours. :)

Take care,
PK

Which iPod are you looking at getting pk? Just curious, I picked up my first MP3 player in June and went with the iPod video. I've been very happy with it. You can't beat having all your tunes plus Family Guy, Chappelle's Show, and a handful of movies everywhere you go.

Scoop:

The new 80GB iPod, with video. It's another three or four years of space and a steal of a deal for $349, enough to make me leap to the dark side. (Sorry, Sport!) :)

80GB PK? How many movies are you gonna fit in there, never mind music? I got a 4GB nano which is great for my travels and leisure and an original 40GB ipod photo which is holding a lot of my baby pics to show people around. Now have you seen a difference in thickness between the 60GB and 80GB ipod? BTW $350, it's a great deal!

Regarding the time that you put on the labels and music, tagging them etc in your other portable, I agree that you must have spent hours putting the effort and time to make everything as tidy as possible, now you just have to find someone that likes at least 3000 of your 6000+ compilations.

No plans for movies, 10s, but I bet I'll end up sneaking a few on there temporarily.

All of my music is digital, so I need the space. I'm a music freak and listen to a lot of tunes, and I want it all in one spot. The 80 GB iPod is perfect for the next three or four years worth of space, as my 40 GB Creative has less than 7 GB left of space.

I haven't seen the difference in thickness, but it's irrelevant to me. I'm sure it's still thinner than my current Creative, which isn't that thick, and size is not a huge factor since my MP3 player spends most of its time on my office desk or plugged into my stereo as a component.

Take care,
PK

Bought 2 Composite to VGA converters, only need one. The model is described here: http://www.midwest-games.com/prsccovgabox.html - I've tested and it works great for my purposes at 480p.

I'm willing to let the extra one go for less than I paid for it, maybe around $35-40 or so shipped (in the continental USA). As many of you know, the import stores won't take returns unless there is something wrong with the product. PM me if interested - figured I'd offer it here first before going the EBay route.

$75 is a damn good price for the Tungsten T3. I just gotta figure out whether or not I'd get a lot of usage out of it.
