That puzzles you, Dan? I think it's a forum rite of passage.

For the record, NHL 07 on the PC inherently sucks. Balls. And I'm not wrong. Pbbth.

One thing that bugs me in 07 is that as you advance with your player mid-ice and make a pass to your teammate, all of the sudden he goes to the bench for a line change and you end up icing the puck unnecesarily.

Bill,

Based upon what I have read at the EA NHL boards, your review was probably too lenient. Sounds like the PC version has been severely bastardized and in bad need of some quality QA....and a major patch which I don't see EA doing for their PC titles these days....

I've gotta admit...the more I play NHL, the more I like. It definitely isn't as refined as 2k7, but it's fresh as many of you have said. I've been using the sliders mentioned a few times in this thread, so that has helped. The game was MUCH too fast without them. So I guess I'm glad you guys keep jocking the sh*t out of it, cuz it gets me to throw it in the machine every once in a while to see what all the fuss is about.

I won't say it's better than 2k7, but it's very good as well...and who knows, it may pass it someday soon if I keep playing it.

Now if your Braves would sweep the Astros, I would be in debt to them.

That's how it works. When I first picked up 07, I didn't care for it at all. It's a prerequisite to turn the speed all the way down, and I highly recommend playing from the classic camera angle. A slider tweak here, a slider tweak there...

I messed around with the player acceleration slider and cranked it all the way up. It seemed to give me better control, especially using the L-trigger on defense. It seemed to make a pretty big difference. Of course it's not as smooth as 2k but it's a definite improvement.

If someone says, "In my opinion, NHL 07 is the worst game in the history of hockey gaming" then I would state my response in a way that would give my opinion as well. I'd do the same thing if someone said "In my opinion, NHL 07 has the greatest AI in the history of hockey gaming."

But when people make concrete statements that they are presenting as *fact*, then yes, it is a forum rite of passage to disagree. Quite frankly, I wouldn't want it any other way. In fact, it's already happened in this thread with people (including myself) saying that it is impossible to win faceoffs versus the CPU. Hell, I could have provided some one game statistics, videos, or screenshots where I lost faceoffs 49-2. Would that have made me right? Obviously not since I now win about half of them.

No worries...the Cards should beat the Brewers the next 2 games to make it all a moot point.

Acceleration maxed to the right and speed all the way down to the left.

NHL 2K7 gets a 10 out of 10 at OS. That strikes me as a bit high.

How can it be a 10 ? too many 1 timers , poor presentation, That knocks it to at least a 9.5.

Maybe i should go read it.

How can you discount others opinions who have clearly been tweaking with the sliders when you havnt even messed with the game speed .
Now that youve actualy given it a chance your starting to like it.
Brilliant.

I disagreed with both perfect scores of NBA2K7 and NHL2K7. I purchased NBA2K7 and in my book it's worth an 8.0

It's funny when some of the members raised questions about the perfect scores some defended the 10 out of 10 score with. "It's amazing how some get hung up on numbers".

Guess you don't like READING the entire thread from the beginning. I have used the sliders from the start...especially the speed slider. I just never gave it enough time. Go back and read the thread from the beginning and then speak like you have all of the information.

Oh yeah...and even after more and more playtime...2k7 still wins. And if you think it's a one-timer fest, then you may want to learn how to play the game and stop relying on it and play hockey. 07 is still a year away from being a very good hockey game. I just can't get used to all of the unpolished stuff...as much as I like the shot stick.

OS does like to throw 10's around... but if you don't look at the numbers, they usually do a great job review wise, imo.

2K IS a one timer fest. It is the easiest way to score. Just because you decide not to do it and ignore doesn't make it right. Bill ripped EA's game because he cranked up the AI and could skate a pattern around in the offensive zone. Not exactly what you would do in hockey, but the AI allowed it, just as the one timer is allowed in 2K. I know how to play hockey and both of these games do a poor simulation of it IMO.

BTW play a stranger online with 2K and they will do nothing but one time it. If you need house rules to make the game realistic then it's not very realistic.

I'm trying to figure out how to limit the shots by both myself and the CPU in NHL 07. I'm getting 40+ per game (both sides) with 10 min. periods. I've used everyone's sliders and lowered the game speed...I just don't see how to get the shots to a realistic number.

The thing about it is...I'm trying to figure out which game I like better. One thing that I saw someone say earlier was that the time flies by when you play NHL and it just creeps when you play 2k7...and that's how I'm feeling right now. I clearly don't think that NHL is a more realistic game, but, as mentioned before, NHL just seems like more fun. I guess the time thing is a good indicator. I'm just trying to figure out which to sell and right now I'm leaning towards keeping 07 even though it's an inferior game when it comes to realism on the ice as far as I'm concerned. I guess fun factor can win out occasionally when it comes to sports gaming.

I don't know that you can on 10 min, DB, though some games might fall into the realistic range. Lowering pass speed and puck retention seemed to help a little for me, though. (Everything else at default except for speed) I think 7-8 min for this game would be perfect.
