In fact this Saturday and Next Tuesday may be the only days I can get my games until the weekend of the 7th.

Please PM me or post if here if you can play one of those days.

(PS... my schedule does get much better after that)

If anyone wants to play a 3rd division game tonight just hit me up. I'll either be on Winning Eleven or NHL2k7. Also, is there some reason I can't edit my team on SGN? It says I don't have the authority to do that or something to that effect. Thanks

Div 3 Opener

Post by Cloud »

The first round of Division 3 started off in the cool climate of Germany as Real Madrid was hosted by Rhein.

After a tentative first 15 min, Ronaldo opened the scoring by burying a left foot shot into the far corner. Real continued to pressure winning several free kicks but unable to convert and when into half with a 1-0 lead. The second half saw Rhein taking an early onlsaught of shots, but stabalized and went on the attack. Several chances for an equalizer sailed wide of the goal. In the 72' minute it looked bleak for the Home squad as Raul was brought down in the box and Ronaldo converted the penalty to put Real ahead by 2 with just over 15 minutes left. Rhein however would not go quietly and just 3 minutes later Franca got one back. The home team continued to pressure but in the end, Real Madrid was able to cling on to the narrow 2-1 victory.

GREAT game Dave!

Man City, Newcastle Open With Draw

Actually that would be 'champing,' but we'll let that slide.

The DSPremiership season finally got underway as Manchester City visited Newcastle, the two teams meeting for the first time in league history. The teams could find no margin between them after 90 minutes, as first half goals by Owen and Andy Cole stood up through a spirited second half full of chances.

Things started brightly for the hosts, when in the 6th minute, Owen received a pass and with one brilliant touch turned past Distin, and gave James no chance with a rocket blast from 25 yds. It took Man City twenty minutes to respond, and despite several better build ups and clearer chances, the goal came from a sloppy battle for the ball at the top of the box in the 26th minute. Sibierski threw his body around, and somehow the ball squirted to Cole who first-timed a low blast past Given for the equalizer.

The score remained 1-1 despite plenty of chances for both sides to break the deadlock. James came up big on several shots in the first half, and City were unlucky when Reyna's free kick from 20yds hit the crossbar. Joey Barton received a yellow card in the first half for a tackle that ended Bowyer's day with a yellow cross injury. The die role was a 5, so Bowyer will miss the next game for Newcastle, be that a league game or the Cup Final.

Newcastle Utd. FC 1 : 1 Manchester City FC

Newc: Owen 6'
Man C: Andy Cole 26'

SoG 19 : 12
SoT 4 : 4
Corners 2 : 3
Fouls 5 : 13
Poss 47 : 53

bookings: Barton (yelllow)
injuries: Bowyer (yellow cross)

Good game Rob. Hard to believe it ended in a draw, and that with all my fowling only Bowyer was injured. We'll do it again soon.

A Freudian misspelling by the owner of Robbie?
