I will update the initial post of this thread, so make sure to peruse that tonight or tomorrow to refresh yourselves with the game settings, etc.

Game settings will remain the same for this season (20 min. settins, long pause time, 7 pauses (the maximum number), random condition, injuries on, weather random, no extra time, no PKs), except the season setting for Season Five will be WINTER.

I should get the first-half season schedule up tonight, or by tomorrow AM at the latest.

EDIT: PS - fsquid, dave360 and StCloud need to tell me what stadium they want as their team's home stadium for this season.

A team whose stadium is not in the game can change stadiums every season, or stick with the one they chose for previous seasons. I kept the same stadium with Fenerbahce for two years, then changed to the Rasunda when I ended up with Man City, and I'm sticking with that at least through this season.

It's up to you.

Let's close this thread, as it has served its purpose, and take future discussion back into the official league thread.

Thanks!

Alright then... my question then becomes... does my team (Berlin) have a stadium in the game... and if so, what is it? And how would I know?

I'm not sure why I seem dense with this... but throw an aging, clown-haired, Columbian midfielder a bone will ya?

Oh, man, I'm the dense one! I forgot you changed your team.

Your team is Hertha Berlin, known as Haupstadt in the game, and they play at Berlin Olympic Stadium, known as Haupstadtstadion in the game.

Nay, it is not. That's why there's a "Pick-'Em" next to the team name in the list above.

Season Five Set To Begin!

Post by Zeppo »

Ok gang:

The first-half schedule for Season Five is up and we are ready to go!

The first-half deadline is Sunday October 8. Please try to get your first-half games in by then. Extensions will be liberally granted, but must be requested. Remember only to play games currently on your schedule page at the SGN League site; second-half games should not be played until that part of the schedule is listed.

The 'season' setting for Season Five is WINTER. Remember to set the weather to random, and use the appropriate home stadium. Also, 'pause time' should be long, and number of pauses set to 7 (the maximum).

Post game reports here in this thread, even if they are only simple listings of the critical info, as well as entering the data into the league module. Make sure to list the goal-scorers and bookings in the post here, so that I can make sure all goal-scorers etc. are credited at the league module.

Remember to list injured players in this thread, as we have no way to deal with injuries at the league module. Players with a yellow or red cross (or worse) may miss some games, according to a die roll as explained in the initial post of this thread.

Remember that this is a sim-style league. Players are expected to play fair (no modem-jockeying to create lag, etc.), play hard, and try to win.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them here or PM me. Once I receive the home stadium information for those teams still unset (listed as 'Pick-'Em' in the above team roster and also in the initial post of this thread), I will get that info into the module.

Good luck, and play fair!

DSP League Cup Tie

Newcastle 3 VfB Stuttgart 1

SOG 30, 15
Tar 12, 7
Cor 5, 8
Off 1, 1
Posses 53, 47

Newcastle: Owen 14', Jenas 18', Dyer 89'

Stuttgart Hebkt (What the hell was his name Fifa? Can't read my own notes lol) 17'

Two-time league champs Newcastle United advanced to the Cup Final of the inaugural DSP League Cup tourney with a convincing 3-1 victory over German side Stuttgart. The scoreline could have been even more lopsided but for Newcastle's fascination with the woodwork. No less than five shots rocketed off the woodwork throughout this match, but Newcastle did not let their poor fortune get to them.

The early play was even until Emre made an excellent run down the left in the 14th minute. His cross found a loosely-marked Owen, who headed home the opener. Stuttgart responded almost immediately with a well taken drive in the 17th minute to equalize. Newcastle fired right back, with Jermaine Jenas' accurate lower corner shot beating the German keeper just one minute later. Emre ripped a FK off of the cross bar just moments later to end this frenzied period. Despite the scorline, the game was even at half.

Newcastle played with greater fervor in the second half, attacking in waves. Only excellent keeping and the sturdy construction of the woodwork denied the Toon for most of the half. Shortly before full time, certainly in yet another effort to drive a shot off the post, Kieron Dyer missed and slipped one by he keeper for an insurance goal.

Great game, Fifa. Quite a wild one. Good luck in the upcoming season.

barcelona 1 werder 3

total shots on goal 8/21
shots on target 4/12
penalties 1/2
free kicks 7/12
corners 1/2
fouls 14/8
offsides 2/2
yellow 2/1
red 0/0
possession 49/51

Goals

Ronaldinho 26

Micoud 35
Klose 69
Klasnic 89

yellows

edmilson 49
oleguer 69

pasanen 26

Good game Jack!

The opening match of the season for both teams was played in near blizzard conditions. The slippery pitch made for some sloppy defense from both sides in a match that saw 29 shots attempted and 16 of those on target. Interestingly, none of those went in. 3 of the 4 goals were made on penalties and the 4th was a free kick from just outside the box.

Barcelona had the early lead went Pasanen attempted a sliding tackle inside the box that brought Ronaldinho down hard. Pasanen was rewarded with a yellow card; Ronaldinho received a penalty kick that he drilled straight into the center of the net.

9 minutes later Micoud for Bremen was awarded a free kick just past the edge of the box that he somehow miraculously put in the top right corner of the goal as his coach, azpaco, let out a girlish shriek. The teams went to the half all square at 1-1.

The second half saw both Werder Bremen's forwards, Klose & Klasnic, receive penalty kicks. Although Coach Jack guessed correctly < top right > on Klose's attempt the striker had just a little too much pace on his shot and Werder was up 2-1,

The final penalty came just before the finish as Klasnic was running with the ball just inside the edge of the box when he went down. Replays were inconclusive as to whether he took a dive or not but he was rewarded the penalty. He went low and straight as the keeper guessed right and the ball rolled to the back of the net leaving the final score 3-1.
