solid performance 34, look at that possession! I'm just glad ole Henry didnt take more shots - especially free kicks  ! catch ya soon my man, hopefully madden

werder - arsenal

14/8 total shots
9/3 shots on target
no penalties
7/3 free kicks
2/1 corners
3/7 fouls
2/2 offsides
no cards
44/56 possession

Goals

Micoud 5', Klasnic 52' 60'

Henry 76'

Arsenal ruled possession of this one but Werder Bremen was able to put a number of shots on goal and luckily a few went in.

There appears to be a little controversy in the Arsenal club house as coach XXXIV expressed several times his dislike for Reyes. We'll keep an eye on this one to see how it plays out. Could there be a move from Arsenal for coach XXXIV?

Calling all StevieG's - please report to the pitch at your earliest convenience. Stevie buddy, Thursday is my last night in town for some time. If you can find a half hour anytime between now and very late Thursday night lemme know. Ours is the last game I need to get in ( unless ddtrane shows ) and it could be for the D3 title! Hope to hear from ya.

Monaco 3 Schalke 2

Kuranyi, 7', 80'
Chevanton 21', 52', 88'

SCH-MON
21-12 Shots on goal
12-8 Shots on target
2-5 Free kicks
2-1 Corner Kicks
1-0 Offsides
51-49 Possession

It was an excellent back and forth battle...Schalke hit the crossbar and post, and came back from down 2-1 with an excellent one-timer by Kuranyi. But as it looked like the game was going to the draw, Chevanton hit a beautiful strike from the top of the box to lead Monaco to victory.

Great game...look forward to the next one.

Stuttgart tops Barcelona 2-1 in odd match.

I knew upon entering Nou Camp tonight that something just felt a bit off. There was a different usher working our section, the beautiful young women that typically pour my beer were absent and there was a big piece of gum stuck on my seat. Everything felt just a bit unfamiliar. Thankfully my luck changed as two amazing females took the seats directly in front of me, both dressed in Stuttgart belly shirts, minus bras. Odd I thought. Two hot females sporting the visitors colors. Needless to say I introduced myself as the guy who is paid to cover Stuttgart and before I knew it I was sitting between them.

I'm not one for multi tasking, but I figured tonight I needed to as I had one on each arm and a game to write about so I needed to pay a bit of attention.

The match started and gosh I wish it was as pretty as my company. Both teams struggled to develop any flow at all. Barcelona did everything they could do to crush the Stuttgart attack early. They pressed the ball at every opportunity and disrupted everything Stuttgart attempted to accomplish.

Barcelona preferred to concentrate it's attacking focus on the left channel of the pitch, eventually working the ball to Ronaldhino who then would do what he does best. (it was right about this time that I felt a hand on my thigh.....) It was a nice dish from Ronaldhino that created their first great scoring opportunity. A Barcelona striker found himself 9 yards from the keeper but before he could get the shot off, he was taken down. The ref immediatley pointed at the spot and Ronaldhino calmly stepped up and put the bar off the crossbar and in.

Stuttgart tried to rally and came up short until minute 41 when a mad scramble in the Barcelona box led to whistles blowing and the ref once again pointing at the spot, this time it was on the other end of the pitch. Cacau took the kick for Stuttgart and put the ball just inside the left post at eye level. The match ended level at 1.

I'm certain that halftime was more interesting for me than for any of the players. My new friends seemed...Well, real. They were both from Germany and in Spain on vacation. Lilly is a flight attendant and Heidi a designer. By the time the second half started the three of us had wandered away from our seats and off to visit the concessions for a few more beers.

Stuttgart started the 2nd half like a team possesed. After posting 3 shots in the first half they posted at least that in the first 4 minutes. Patience was working for them as they setup near the box and would swap the ball to the wings and then back to center looking for things to develop. The better they played, the more jovial our little triangle of friends became. Now we were singing and drinking arm in arm.

Barcelona mad a seriuous attempt to spoil the mood as they found themself on the break near the 56th minute. A great save by Hildebrand kept the game level. Stuttgart regained possesion and went back on the attack forcing Barcelona's pressure defense on their heels. Finally at the 64th minute Cacau found space at the corner of the box, side stepped one defender and buried the shot low to the right side. Stuttgart was on top in a match that was crucial to both clubs and Lilly was kissing me on my cheek in celebration. I remember thinking "Please god, please let us score again..." That wish almost came true as moments later as Soldo let one fly from 30 yards forcing a great save that kept the ball from just sneaking under the crossbar.

Life was good and it seemed like it was getting better by the minute... At least until Barcelona realized that the game was 20 minutes from the final whistle and it was time to make a serious push. Ronaldhino and the boys pressed hard and created space in the Stuttgart zone. Hildebrand was called on more than once in the last 15 mintues to keep the lead alive. With stoppage time upon us, Barcelona broke free down the left side. Two quick passes later and to the fear of every Stuttgart fan, a shot was unleased from the corner of the box. It was a laser that somehow went high, sizzling over the crossbar, just left of center. A goal kick and a short pass later the final whislte blew. Stuttgart stands victorious over it rival.

Lilly, Heidi and myself walked hand in hand as we headed for the parking lot. My phone began to vibrate, I ignored it and continued on. As we approached the VIP parking lot my phone rang again, and once again I decided to ignor it. We were literally 10 steps from my vehicle when suddenly, like a drop of rain falling from the sky, all hell broke lose.

Ah the ribald tales of of Fifa Inspected. Nice job Dave. Equally impressive was my first win with Shalke tonight. Actually I was quite happy with my whole evening's matches despite my loss to Jared. I was in it. Defensive collapse at the end not withstanding.

Schalke 3 - Lazio 1

shots 11/14
SOG 6/3
Cor 1/1
fouls 13/8
Off 0/2
Pos 50/50

Sand 4', 18'
Azaouagh 88'

Di Canio 76'

Sand claimed a ricochet for the first goal of the night. The other two were more impressive. All the bounces just seemed to fall my way in this one. Great game Mo. As with everyone I've played in this league so far... look forward to the next.

Hey Zep -

I need some clarification on how injuries work. Last night during our game Ronoldhino was injured. He stayed on the pitch and looked to be fine. Late in the game jack noticed that Ronaldhino was listed with a yellow cross. After the match neither of us could find any injury related info.

Could you please clarify for us how this injury thing works.

Thanks!

You need help my friend. "And not just one-on-one help. You need a team! People discussing you...having conferences...like they did with the elephant man. Because that's the only way you're going to get better".

Seriously though.....nice game. Always enjoy our games because they are always tight and tense to the end. Good luck the rest of the way!
Nice to have someone who is so into the league and it's progression.

Whenever a player's condition arrow is a cross, yellow or red, that info should be posted in the game recap here in the thread. There's no way to look at the rosters after the game in online games, but once a player is shown with a yellow or red cross, that cross will remain through the game (it will not go away). Sometimes a player receives treatment and his condition arrow remains normal. A yellow cross means the player can still continue, though he will not be as effective.

Anyway, as for Ronaldinho: the roll was a 5, so he is out for Barca's next game.

Possible break for the boys from Munich? They may need it to avoid a trip to D3 next season.

Anyone want to play tonight?
