Man City Shuts Out Stuttgart At Home
Lest I forget. . .
Manchester City welcomed Stuttgart to the Rasunda for their first home game of the season, and shut out the German team 4-0. With two goals in each half, City was never tested throughout the match.
Sibierski opened his Fourth Season account with a nice turn and shot at the top of the box in the 18th minute. Just before the half, the frenchman was able to get his head on the end of a wicked cross from the left by Musampa to double the lead.
The second half saw more posession by Stuttgart, but it was clear the field was tilted towards the visitors' goal when right back Mills attempted an early cross in the 64th minute from some 40M out, an inswinger with his left foot, no less, that beat everyone and everything in the box including the hapless keeper and setteled into the side netting to make the score 3-0. Eleven minutes later, in minute 75, Andy Cole finished the scoring with a well placed shot. Stuttgart had several chances to break the shut out in the closing minutes, but a sharp James in goal and a lot of bad luck kept them off the scoresheet.

SoG 12 : 11
SoT 9 : 3

Good game, FIFA. I just had it going and everything was bouncing my way. I still can't believe that goal from Mills! Crazy!

Oh man, now I'm going to get confused and think WCO is in our league with that avatar, Jack!
Actually, you have a reason to have it, as opposed to Mr. Never-Seen-a-Soccer-Ball over there. . .
I think you guys should duke it out for the rights to it, maybe a marathon session of odds and evens, or rock-paper-scissors or something!

I can play, but it has to be relatively early. I have my Cup game with squid at 10p and I think that will end my gaming night.Leebo33 wrote:Jack, as soon as I hear back from BB then I'll let you know. Tonight is a good possibility, but I'd like to lineup at least 2 before I commit. If tonight is not good for Bubbaball then maybe I can play you and Zeppo tonight as well?? I'll let you know.
Looks like I am your huckleberryRobVarak wrote:Zep,Zeppo wrote: Jared, good idea. I will go ahead and do the first round draw, if not today then tomorrow. I will also try to get the first round bracket up at the site so the octofinal games can be played and reported.
Hook me up with a nice Div 3 team and there may be a little something in your PayPal accountHey, it works for Juventus!

When do you want to get our game in?

Man City Dispaches Toulouse FC In Cup
Manchester City continued their winning ways, this time in the League Cup competition, as they travelled to the San Siro, home of DSPremiership club Toulouse FC, and won two to nil. The goals came in a five minute span in the second half, as City took advantage of the lag-half, something Toulouse was unable to do in the first stanza. Sibierski, who had missed at least three clear chances with his head from within eight yards of the goal in the first half, created a turnover in the 66th minute. The ball bounced fortuitously off his rear end and right to him at the top of the box, and he buried the chance with no question. In the 71st minute, Andy Cole doubled the lead on a corner kick when he found the ball coming all the way to his right foot at the far post, barely clearing the head of at least two other players on its way. His first time volley sent the ball into the roof of the net, and his team into the second round of this first League Cup.

Good game, squid. I just sat back through the first half, thinking defense first. I can't believe all the woodwork I hit, but hey, who would've guessed it
? I felt lucky to get out alive after that first half, and changed up my tactics to be more agressive. But in the end, the winner came on a bit of luck and a random bounce. At least the shot was worthy.
Good luck in the league, I hope I'll see you next season!

A tight first half between these two teams produced a score of 1-0 in favor of Juventus (goal by Ibrahimovic). The start of the second half saw more of the tight defense when Trezeguet broke free after a giveaway in midfield and made the score 2-0. Bayern bounced right back and after some crisp passing Karimi was free in the box to bring Bayern within a goal. As Bayern pushed for the equalizer, Ibrahimovic got free again and seeled the game for Juventus.
Great game Leebo. I look forward to playing again. You dominated possession but just came up short on a couple of shots.
