Well I'm not sticking up for PAL since I don't know him. But if you read about something in another forum that links to a trailer you're not allowed to post it?

People post stuff and quote stuff from OS here all the time, hell even taking direct posts from other sites. I don't get it, maybe there is more to it. I would check out SGN for myself, but anyone who has the lack of judgement to make BD a moderator is not running the type of place I want to hang out in.

That's not the problem. The wording that PAL used in multiple quotes was the same, or very similar, to posts made by Jason at SGN. If you see a link to an article on another site and post it here, that's fine. If you take other people's words from other sites without attribution, that's not fine.

And fyi, I don't think BD is a mod there...he just posts there.

(If you had e-mailed me to ask to be unbanned, I would have said yes. BUT instead of doing that, you made a new username and already started problems with the post stealing from SGN.)

(The above statement was wrong...I looked in my spam folder and found an e-mail from redneck asking to be reinstated. However, in that e-mail you said that "you would not start any trouble". Stealing other posts counts as that. You've got a chance to respond...but then I'm afraid you will be banned again.)

Gotcha. Sorry about that. It won't happen again. I just thought what the guy at SGN said was funny, so I posted it. But you're right, not attributing it to him was wrong.

Wow, I can't believe this is even an issue... PAL_Gamer obviously saw the link at the other site, thought the quote was humorous or a good tagline for the article, and then posted it here. That anyone would be upset by this is incomprehensible. It's a NINE-WORD throwaway phrase and people want credit for coming up with it or something. If it was a review or even impressions then it would be polite to mention the person's name. But a stupid little throwaway comment like that? I guess I'm going to start putting TM next to every little comment I make from now on. Geez...

He did it twice in a span of a couple of days. If this happens once, then whatever. But if someone is taking someone else's words from another forum repeatedly, and acting as if they are their own, then that's not acceptable.

He didn't just steal posts. He stole a post made by one person along with the remarks made by another person and posted them here as his own right after they were posted on my site - twice!!!. I just pointed it out and left it at that.

I understand *your* position because the next time it happens it could be a review or impressions or sliders or whatever, stuff that required inspiration and definitely shouldn't be grabbed. My point was that I find it very, VERY petty that someone would be upset that someone harmlessly grabbed their simplistic, nothing-special-about-it throwaway line. I guess the word "wiimarkable" is hereby under restricted access for the future of DSP...

Sorry, but there is nothing special about your "remarks"... I guess you feel like you made up the word "wiimarkable" too. Maybe if he would have *word for word* taken at minimum a few sentences of yours strung together I can see why you'd be upset. You must be really proud of the little offhand comments you make to be that protective of them.

Anyway, you are right about one thing... you did just point out the coincidences and not really comment on it or anything. Though I think it's clear that you were, I shouldn't have just assumed you were upset about it.

He did take comments from SGN, essentially word-for-word, on another occasion. This wasn't just the wii-markable comment. Jason, on SGN, said after a link to the blitz trailer:

"Oh, and just want a good football game needs - dancing and bar fights"

Then red/pal_gamer linked to the same trailer in this thread and said:

"Just what a football game needs- disco and fights."

Multiple times, red/pal a) took posts from SGN and made them front page posts here and b) took Jason's wording from SGN and posted it here. This isn't just a one-phrase deal.

Jared, I never disputed that... he's guilty as charged. I just don't know why it's an issue. It's not like the guy's going to profit off of this or anything. Is that supposed to be some kind of line that I can take into a comedy club and get rich off of? "Disco and fights?" I mean is that some golden line or something? I don't get it... if people want to swipe my stupid one-liners then be my guest... if they start taking whole paragraphs of my impressions and acting like they wrote them, then I might take exception. But I doubt it.

Anyways, I think you're right to enforce the no post grab rule, but it's silly that this is the one that kicks it off. But that was out of your hands.

I heard this place wasn't kind to newbies, but sheesh. I didn't expect this. I admit that taking the SGN guy's post was wrong, but I had seen others do similar things here with gaming news etc..., so I thought it was OK. As I said earlier, I will give credit where credit is due from now on.

Furthermore, this IP address resolves to comcast.net, and is likely a residential user.

So Bob/Andy/red/PAL_Gamer, your story doesn't hold up. You're username is banned, and your IP is banned. Your compulsive lying isn't welcome here.
