My understanding is not only can you use the 360 controller, but the icons also appears as "a", "Y' etc. and not the 1,2 3 like they do with a logitechellbent wrote:I'm also crossing my fingers that I can use the 360 controller on the PC version this year.

I think it does too, what i read led me to believe that you could edit equipment and appearance not just ratings. Maybe they both do the same. But it is sure going to look better then the standard Xbox version.Bill_Abner wrote:I believe the Xbox version has a player editor as well, fyi.Danimal wrote:I'm hearing good things about the PC version, so good i think I might return the 360 and go with that. Fatigue is only a problem in the 360 version apparently. The PC offers everything the Xbox version does, with graphics on par with the 360 and a 60fps fram rate if your rig can handle it.
also apprently you can FULLY edit players, have a fantasy draft etc. Plus the addition of any mod tools created, I think I'll be making a switch at lunch time.

Did I mention it's fugly?

Been playing some more and the game is still holding up to say the very least. There's been a nice collection of penalties called, which is good to see. I do have another complaint to add to the list, though- the playbooks. In addition to being tough to read, they're small and depressingly generic. Take out the option plays and they're basically the same group you see in NCAA '07. I really miss the playbooks in NFL 2K5 or in Madden '06, which were finely tuned for teams like the Ravens, Redskins, Patriots and Colts. I'll deal for a year, but now that the engine is up and running the way it should, I hope EA brings the content level up to par with the current gen version.

Not in the 360 version...at least during exhibition games it's not. I believe it past Maddens you could do it during preseason games but as soon as it hit the regular season, you couldn't...but I may be incorrect in that.Murph wrote:Anyone know if you can 'Mass Sub' in your 2nd string like in NCAA?
In NCAA, you would go to "Strategy" and sub in your 2nd string from there. Is that option not available in Madden?

I haven't even played a regular game, only super star. I suck as a safety, that much is certain. I misplayed the ball, missed angles, and basically stunk up the joint as the SS for the Bengals. As a QB, the Browns took me and I had an interesting half of action in the first preseason game, throwing 1 TD and 2 picks. I started out red hot and then got a lot more pressure and fell apart.
But MLB has been my joy so far. The Cards took me that time, and I was able to blow up the backfield a few times on the Steelers, recording 2 tackles for loss and 2 pass deflections in the half I played (they pulled me for the 2nd half of the preseason games, so my only action was on kick and punt coverage). I'm better at sniffing out screens and sitting in short zones, so I think I found my niche.

That sucks Bill. Is this being reported on the internet for the Xbox version?Bill_Abner wrote:Argh. Three tries, three disc errors. Just got another one...back to the store tonight or tomorrow. Good lord this is frustrating.

I haven't played a non SS mode game since Friday. I have already gotten my 60 bucks worth of enjoyment out of that mode. Other than playing online occasionally, I may not play a non superstar game this entire year.
Made a FS. It said his father was a HOF type Safety. So I named him Larry Tatum.. Can run, big hitter. blah blah blah. Got drafted by the Chiefs, and haven't had so much fun playing a football game in years. Actually got a pick in my first Pre-Season game.
As I said earlier, SS mode was a litte confusing and underwhelming at first for me, but after I figured out what I was doing, it really took on new life.
QB is a b*tch to play also.

I actually picked up a QB and did rather well out of the gates. When I was asking you if LT+a face button still works...it does. You can just hold L and hit the buttons to make your progressions, then hit the button again to throw.
I started out hot in my first game, then cooled off. In my second game I completed 70% of my passes without an interception. The trick is the presnap read, knowing exactly what button presses are your progressions, and making the quick decision to fire the ball when you see the opening.

My closest Circuit City is 30 miles away and I don't get their weekly ad but I printed up the page for their store ad from their website and stopped in Wal Mart after work and they said they weren't allowed to match prices from ads printed up on the computer, so I went next door to Gamestop and they don't price match at all, so finally I stopped in Kmart and they don't price match either but I had a 10 dollar coupon for their store that I used. One way or another I was getting at least 10 bucks off my purchase today.TheTruth wrote:Just a heads up for everyone that are picking up the game but haven't yet. Wal-Mart it seems has changed the price in their system to match the 47.99 price of Circuit City. I picked my copy up at WM this morning.

Picked up the PC version, wow did they optimize this code, it plays so smooth on my system and last year it chugged.
Its nice to have features like defenisve adjustments back (ie pick a CB and shade inside etc). I only played a half so far, but it has all the options of the next gen version (lead blocker, highlight stick etc)
The presentation is better then the 360 version and although the graphics aren't as sharp, it still looks good. I'll post some screens and movies later. I think I may stick with this until the 360 is patched, hell I may stick with this even after it is patched.
Using the wired 360 controller is nice, using a mouse in the interface is nicer.

Just played for a little bit...this is really going to take some time for adjustments after playing on the XBox.
The game feels too fast and too slow, all at the same time. I realize that makes no sense...
I never thought I'd miss Madden's commentary in an NFL game, but the radio announcer is terrible. Almost feels like a smoother version of the Sega announcer from Sports Talk Football. Seems like there is potential with the radio style; for one, it would be cool to be able to choose home or visitor announcer and get a "homer" call for one team or another.
The longer I play, the more I like it, definitely a good sign.

Yeah I figured that out. I actually do better when using the RS, the camera movement when using the LT button is to disconcerting for me.TCrouch wrote:I actually picked up a QB and did rather well out of the gates. OK. Interesting. On the PSP a slight movement of the arrow and your kick can end up out of bounds, and from what you say, maybe I should move the arrow around it more on the 360. Thanks.dbdynsty25 wrote:It's just you...I spray my kicks all over the place.10spro wrote:Is it me or it just seems that on every kickoff, no matter where you aim your arrow, the direction of the kick ends up in the middle of the end zone?
