How do you control the outside players like CBs and WRs? Are they even visible from the standard gameplay cameras or they have some special cameras?

For a DB (and all defensive players) the camera is placed behind your player. Before the snap, you can use the right stick to pan your view back across the field.

Pre-snap or during the play, you can press the B button to lock your view on the football and switch back to the original camera. It's a very unique, and fun, way to play.

BTW - I'm not a graphics whore, but this game is very, very nice to look at. I am playing in heavy rain, Buffalo @ Miami, and the water is pooling up in the areas of the field that have been run on the most. It even has reflections of the stadium when the camera angle is right.

I just noticed, their arms and bodies get dirty also. I zoomed in on a replay, because I thought I had noticed it, my players arms had streaks of dirt and mud on them.

Results from my 2 SS games.

Game 1: vs San Diego
Packers lose 27-17. I had 4 receptions for 32 yards. 1 punt return for 6 yards, that I also fumbled

Game 2 vs. Atlanta
Packers wn 31-28 on a last second Billy Cundiff Field Goal.
I had 5 receptions for 54 yards and a score. Also returned a punt 13 yards.

I wish I could save replays to upload. Covering a kickoff I had a bead on Allen Rossum and was about to go for a kill shot, when Edge Hartwell came out of nowhere and absolutely blew me up. It really was a thing of beauty.

I had to get to high on a game too early, but SS mode has been a blast so far. I find myself watching replays over and over again.

No. This is a big pet peeve of mine. I can not see why this is not a standard feature in every sports game.

Yes, lets find a couple of people who thought NCAA 07 was the cat's pajamas, they're sure to be objective.

You do realize that anytime someone posts something negative about Madden or NCAA over at OS they are met with snide comments from both the posters and mods that their opinion carries no weight.

There was even a thread called "Madden 07 - Positive Comments Only" and yet when a guy made a similar thread called "Madden 07 - Negative Comments Only" it was promptly locked.

Just because a guy doesn't have a red or green name or 20,000 posts doesn't mean he's not reliable.

And for the record, my Gamestop manager, who I trust very much absolutely loved NCAA 07 on the 360 told me today that he, too was underwhelmed by Madden. He said that Superstar Mode was the best part of the game. He said the shotgun blast was very annoying. This guy has been telling me for a month that I was wrong about NCAA and how good Madden was going to be and now he's really let down after spending a few hours with the game last night. I'm not looking for someone to tell me what I want to hear...I'm looking for someone who is interested in being honest about a game that's important to a lot of us.
Did you notice how I said that we felt the same way about Madden 06 for the 360? I didn't say anything about NCAA 07 for the 360 so I don't know why you brought it up. You see, everybody has different opinions and a lot of forum posters have agendas. When a forum poster has very little posts any agenda he/she might have is hidden. I've known bkrich and TCrouch for years and know that they have no agenda. Why shouldn't I wait for their impressions if they felt the same way about Madden 06 on the 360 that I did? Should I wait for your impressions of the game knowing how much you dislike the 360 version of NCAA and how much I like the 360 version of NCAA?
OK, so if your logic is true, no one at OS has an agenda. I can tell you from experience though, any post that exposes the flaws in NCAA over there is immediately met with flames and the poster is discounted as being an idiot or someone who knows nothing about football.

Now, as agendas go, why on earth would I have any kind of agenda against the 360 version of Madden and NCAA? I have not one, but two 360s. I have a vast library of 360 games and the bulk of my gaming time is spent on the 360. The only time I have touched my Xbox in the last 3 months was to play NCAA 07 on it.

So people tell me I have an agenda? I could see it if I was anti-360 and didn't own one, but I have two and I am convinced it's the best console on the planet.

I realize I'm an easy target and a lot of you don't like what I post. No big deal. I couldn't care less if anyone likes it or not, but I post the truth.

You may not have both consoles and if you don't, well I feel sorry for you having to play a game that is so woefully broken that it isn't funny. I played both versions and the Xbox version is so much better than the 360 version that it's shameful. I know most of you guys are real sports gamers so that's why I find it so puzzling that anyone could possibly think that next gen NCAA and Madden are better than current gen versions.

Slowly but surely, the awful things NCAA does is taking its toll on sports gamers who are willing to be honest. Bill Abner has already posted a very well written blog about why the current gen version is better. Mizzourah has fallen off the truck and came back to earth and it appears Leebo has too. Play the game long enough and watch the freaking replays and you will see just how awful it is. Some of you choose to ignore it and that's fine. Stick with it and have a blast.

It's funny everytime I say one thing negative about the 360 versions that I am lambasted by people like I pissed in their corn flakes. As long as people continue to post and ask questions about either version of NCAA or Madden, I will continue to offer my opinion. Don't like it, well find the ignore function. But I ask you again, what is my agenda? Why can't I just be the one who is telling the truth?

That's your agenda. Ranting and raving about how much better the Xbox version is rather than offering your *opinion*. You make it seem like people that prefer the 360 version are either stupid or disingenuous. Maybe some people just want to play on the 360. Maybe they prefer the graphics, XBL integration, controller, and are willing to sacrifice a bit in gameplay (if any, I haven't played the Xbox version). To them the 360 version *is* better. Besides, I thought I read that the Xbox version also has the CPU FG problem and a problem with the ease of deep passes. It's not like either version is the Holy Grail of virtual pigskin.

I have the 360 and PS2 versions and prefer the 360 in every way shape and form. Boom came in and broke down point by point why he also prefers the 360 version. I guess Boom and I are wrong, and Badgun is the only one professing "the truth".

If anyone gets the game this weekend or next week. I'd like to test out the live opponent feature. Apparently I can play my franchise games against a human opponent via XBL.

I find the whole notion that adults would lie on a message board about the videogames they think are better rather comical. I could maybe see it if you worked for the company or otherwise had a financial interest, but I doubt that is the case for many here.

I think it's great that people offer opinions whether they be the same as mine or totally different. Hell, I've done a complete 180 on games a few times after further play, good sliders, or a patch. Does that mean I was lying to myself...LOL.

I agree on the in game save not being a standard in sports video games today. Sheesh... program that instead of the long pass BOOM! :)

Thanks for the impressions, bk. It seems like the biggest downside to the next gen versions resides in their similarities, which is to be expected considering the newness of the engine. To EA's credit, they managed to eventually give NCAA and Madden distinctly different feels on the current gen. Madden 06 and NCAA 06 were completely different games despite sharing the same basic engine. It's probably going to take a few years for the next gen versions to achieve a similar effect, so for now the choice will basically come down to whether or not you prefer the pro or college game.

JRod wrote:You know all this ripping on NCAA I think is a bit much. I know this isn't an NCAA thread so let me address a few football gaming things.

I think NFL 2k was a decent game not a great game. First off I don't think 2k Games ever release a sports game that wasn't buggy. That killed the game for me. For me the game was boring. Things like running the ball, passing for the most part was pretty good. The stats and the end of the game were also decent. It's been a long time that I just can't what issues pissed me off into not wanting to play the thing.

However 2k5 was release two years ago. Far too many people are holding that up as a gold standard even with its problems. Madden (Xbox) last year was the first game I felt had it all. However the passing game was completely focused on long pass plays.

I just don't get all the complaints for NCAA 360. I think this time isn't the same complaints you here when a new version of WE is released. Because the game is tweaked it feels the same but all the little things you learned to be successful have changed as well.

NCAA in my opinion is the best football title released. Had 2k7 been released maybe it would be a different story. But it hasn't. For my money NCAA is better than 2k5 not because its new but because the football parts are less broken then in any other game. Aside from mario running and corner passes the game plays a solid game of football. CPU FGs are broken, ok.

As for Madden, I'm not that interested in it because the pro game has less to do then the college game. I like recruiting, I like changing schedules every year, and I like the ebb and flow of the polls and heisman rankings from week to week.
Badgun will now label you as not credible.

I agree on the college vs. pro football thing. I like the college stuff and recruiting better myself. But I switch back and forth after a few seasons to keep it fresh. Not to mention, the real reason I got Madden this year was the SuperStar Mode. Which, I actually have had fun with so far.
I never said you weren't credible, but I do think a lot of you guys are letting the spiffy graphics blind you from all the flaws in both games.

I'm also trying to figure out why I'm bitter. Maybe you can tell me. If I am nothing else, I am honest with myself and others as to which game plays the better game of football.

For the record Badgun, I didn't say you had an agenda so I'm not sure why you took it that way. I was pointing out that a lot of forum posters all over the internet have agendas and go to forums to have their voice heard and to stir up trouble. I pointed out that I generally don't trust very positive or very negative game impressions from someone with under 20 posts because of the likelihood of there being an agenda behind it. I also said that I was waiting from impressions of Madden from bkrich and TCrouch because I agreed with what they had to say about Madden 06 for the 360. I'm not sure why you took that as an attack and I'm also not sure why you decided to post negative things about bkrich and TCrouch and the fact that they may or may not like NCAA 07 for the 360. Are you telling me that there's no posters here or at OS that you tend to agree with and trust their impressions more than others? I find that hard to believe.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.
