Mainster is going to have the thankless task of replacing 0-5 ND. Their owner had to step down due to personal reasons. Please thank grtwhtsk1 for playing his games, wish him well and welcome Mainster to the league.
The Northwestern Wildcats notched their first win of the season in a dramatic come-from-behind home win against the Navy Midshipmen.
"Maybe now the students will stop burning me in effigy," said Coach Brando.
The game began the way every Northwestern game has begun this season -- a three-and-out from the Wildcats, followed by an opponent scoring. Navy coach Millennium had his ground game working early against the Wildcat defense, running options and handing off to the fullback before getting to the endzone on a seven-yard run. The Midshipmen ran the ball well for most of the game, rumbling for nearly 200 yards on the ground.
Northwestern added a field goal in the second quarter -- the Wildcats first offensive points of the season -- but the Midshipmen struck again after forcing a fumble on a Northwestern punt return, scoring another TD on a beautiful 12-yard run to make it 14-3.
With time running down in the half, the Wildcats drove to the Navy six-yard line, but had their field goal attempt blocked. Momentum had clearly pulled into the Navy port.
A Midshipmen fumble -- one of three lost by Navy -- turned the tide in the third quarter. Driving deep into Northwestern territory, Navy lost the football inside the 10-yard line. Facing third-and-long at their own four, Northwestern called a pass, pumping on an out before firing a pass downfield. The Navy safety missed the swat, allong the Wildcat receiver to make the grab and scamper 96 yards for the TD. A two-point conversion made it 14-11 Navy.
Navy came back with another drive and a 35 yard field goal to make it 17-11. But the Wildcats broke another big play, a wide receiver screen that turned into a 70-yard touchdown pass. The Navy strong safety was blocked out of the play, while the Navy cornerback missed a tackle, setting up the momentum-changing score and 18-17 Northwestern lead. While the ground game was non-existent for Northwestern, the two big passing plays helped lead to a 12-16, 250 yard passing performance.
Another Northwestern TD -- a one-yard QB plunge -- and another Navy fumble would seal the game for the Wildcats.

And Millennium, I really enjoyed our game too.
Leebo, if you're free this weekend, maybe we can get our Big 10 smackfest going.
Great game, and you're right about that pick. I was hoping to escape the situation with only allowing a FG.
I hate using FSU in this game. Booker is worthless between the tackles.
Two games played last night. I lost 17-7 to Millennium's Navy, a game in which I made mistake after mistake, and Millennium capitalized on all of them. I rebounded to edge Northwestern 13-10.
Millennium and Brando, I'm free almost any time this weekend. PM with some times and I'll work it in.
Rob and Danimal...same with you guys. If you can PM me some times you are available (just about any time in the morning/afternoon or as late as a 10-11PM EDT starting time would be great) that would be great as I could pick almost any one of them.
Holding onto a 17-14 lead at Happy Valley with less than 2 minutes left, and I throw back-to-back picks that Leebo takes to the house. Brutal way to lose.
Good game Leebo, that was a lot of fun. I really love this game head-to-head.
Yeah, that was nuts. I'll take credit for calling the defenses, but that was about it. The one was cover flats because I thought you might try a conservative pass in that situation and the other was a cover 4 with me controlling a safety on the side with more receivers to tighten the coverage. On the first one I *may* have quickly switched and manually intercepted it, but the second one was all Justin King and the CPU. All I did was apply sprint after the pick.
The momentum bar was just silly in our game with it staying on your side +4 even after I made it 17-14, but I have to admit I really don't think it mattered much. I had a 10 play and 14 play scoring drive plus a pick going the other way against 4 or 5 bars of momentum.
The game is a lot of fun online. There were a lot of memorable plays in our game, including a great hurdle by one of your guys. Our game seemed a little slower than I'm used to online. After playing the CPU a lot yesterday offline the timing is definitely different online especially throwing in the middle of the field. I also think the jump snap function is fun. I purposely let the play clock run down on the 4th and 5 play that you jumped and was going to snap or call timeout with one second left. The only reason I was going to try that is because it works against me...LOL.
edit: just remembered you had your backup QB in there. Maybe you don't throw those picks with him? Zeppo, we need a dice roll

No, that was the game we got disconnected from.
The first pick was a terrible decision on my part. You called the right defense and I should have either looked elsewhere or thrown it away.
The momentum meter really didn't make sense, but like you said, it didn't seem to be much of a factor -- although I'm not sure my MLB makes that leaping interception before the half without an adrenaline boost
Definitely a lot of good plays -- your second TD where my guys were trying to catch your HB was pretty funny. And you really got me on the 4th and 5 jump. Those scoring drives you mounted were impressive, especially considering the momentum.
Anyway, a lot of fun. I'll try and get my revenge in Madden
Dan you are the last game on my schedule. I know Im the one that keeps missing you...Which date and time is good for you?...I will try to stay awake before you get online
I'm on just about every night after 9:30 CDT. Tonight might be iffy though as I will probably go to get Madden since EB has an extra 20% on trade In until 10pm.

And then there was one... FSU marches in to beat the previously undefeated Bulldogs 18-6 in front of a packed house.
FSU opened the game with a 4:01 drive that only netted 3 points but still they never looked back.
Georgia kicked a late field goal on 4th down to send the score to 18-6. Their coach(Ray Goff) was coaching like a loser as he was trying to keep things respectable thinking there was no change to win the game. However, on the persueing kickoff, Georgia recovered the onsider which would have gaven them a change to tie the game up with a score and 2 pointer if their coach was not a total puss.
