Yep, and BG I had assumed you wanted to do that. Thanks for clearing that up.

In that case I'll switch from Virginia to Pitt since I'm familiar with using them already even though I'm not having the best of luck with them online.

I might need to bail. I just haven't been able to get a lag-free connection from the EA servers, either for NCAA or FIFA.

All spots are now filled. Feel free to add yourself to the waitlist in case people drop out, which they inevitably do. ;)

I'll post rules and bracket info ASAP.

OK-- we have the brackets drawn up and posted online. For those playing in the tourney, or those wishing to be wait-listed, please read over the rules at the bottom as well as the stadium key to see the neutral field assigned to your game. (I think you can edit the stadiums like you can in a solo exhibition game..but I'm not 100% sure. If this cannot be done, the bottom team on each bracket is the home team for the first round.)

Included in the bracket is the team and and gamertag of the player. If your tag is wrong, please let me know ASAP.

http://ootp.hugginsweb.net/%5Cfiles%5Cbrackets.html

If you have any questions/concerns re: the house rules, let me know, specifically if the rollout rule.

Bookmark this tourney page as this is where results will be posted. Please message me, email me, or simply post game results to the forum so I can update the webpage.

thanks and I hope you have a good time -- and don't forget, this is a double elimination tourney so you'll get at least two cracks.

Bill -

I think it is going to be hard as hell to limit QB Scrambling. There is no way to control that, I played RobV in my league game the other night and he sprinted his QB outside a lot. I didn't feel like he was cheating, before it is taken that way. I was forced to do it as well when smith got hurt and i had a backup in just to get time to throw. I eventually just spied him and controlled the spy to limit it and then switched to the DB when i had to.

In fact when the moementum meter is shifted one way, the d-Line just breaks through at will, staying in the pocket will be near impossible. I was running shotgun in that game and I was literally taking the snap and having to dodge the DE about a second later. I know Rob was having the same issue.

Anyway I have no problem with this rule, I just think you're going to hear a lot of complaining because what is the line. If I'm in the pocket and i see a blitzing CB, can i then rush outside with sprint or do i have to take a sack?

regardless, thanks for the setup of the tourney.

There are ways to prevent the QB scramble from a defensive playcalling point of view. Figure it out, use it.

And it's YOU and I Danimal...when you want to play?

I know that, which was my point. If you read the rules however we are not supposed to use the sprint button to scramble. Bill said to say something now if we had a concern so i was.

weds night would work, I'd say tonight but i am flyng solo on parenting duty until tomorrow so who knows if the kids wil stay asleep etc.

Well, it's not a QB scramble that I think is a cheese play. I scramble a lot too. What I think is a problem is taking the snap and sprinting out of the pocket right from the get go whether there is a rush or not, in order to take advantage of a secondary AI hole.

The reason for this is to prevent the games from breaking down into a rollout fest each and every play, which I have seen in several online games and I find that to be incredibly boring.

If you need to sprint to avoid the rush, like you said, then that's different. If a DE busts through the line...I'm running to get away and then all bets are off.

All of these rules are going to be judgment calls; you know full well if someone is cheeseballing you or not. Anyway, if you don't want to use that house rule, just make sure both players agree and have at it. :)

Heh...that's the only night I cannot do. I've got to hang blinds in my new condo that night and my pops is coming over to help (girlfriend = worthless when it comes to that stuff), lol. So any other night is cool.

I roll out like mad, as Danimal said. Interesting that it's thought of as an exploit, as I haven't seen it meaningfully improve my passing game LOL I think I had less than 125 yards passing in the game before a big late-game score.

It does keep me from getting killed by the DL rush, which seems to have a disproportionate number of "Bang you're dead" sacks where there's no time to do anything such as unload a hot route, ditch the ball. I'm not talking about blitzes here, but pure front 4 (or sometimes 3) rushing that still doesn't let you even finish a 3-step drop. I assume it's an outgrowth of the DL audibles, but maybe it's a problem with Louisville, as I don't see it with my dynasty team.

I'll abide by the rule, no problem. But when I'm knocked out in two games I'm gonna visit Ohio :)

LOL.

My intent here isn't to be a pain in the ass about rules. I just want to make it fair for everyone and not have every game turn into a rash of the same play being called over and over again. Like I said, if you guys are cool with allowing the sprint-outs (it's not really a roll out), then I'm cool with it, too. I really just want everyone to have a good time and if this rule is going to prevent that, then we should dump it.

Putting the rules stuff to the side, I think there are some fun first round match-ups:

Danimal and DB just screams classic to me. I'd like to be a fly on the wall with an Xbox headset for that one. ;)

Todd and I ironically play each other, and I owe him some High Heat world series circa 2002 payback.

My final 4 in the winners bracket:

Wake Forest (by default)
Oklahoma State (The power of the Zeppo, although the K-State game will be tough if they meet up)
Pitt (beating Scoop in the semis)
UTEP (Rob don't play innocent...you're one of the teams to beat..)
