I would definetly like to get a game in tonight and my approach of going online and sending messages doesn't appear to be working since most people don't even bother to respond, just come take your beating and get it over with :)

So does anyone want to play tonight say 9:30 or 10pm CST?

I didn't respond to Danimal the other night because I went out of the room with the 360 on thinking I'd be away for a couple minutes, but I didn't return for 45 minutes. I usually try to at least send an acknowledgement that I can't play, but it was late.

There are a lot of times on weekends or before 11PM that I cannot play even if I'm online. Sometimes I'll try to sneak in some play before the kids go to bed or while they nap, but if they wake up or want me to read or play with them I pretty much have to stop my game.

If squid can't play soccer tonight then I'd love to get a game in at 10PM EDT tonight.

edit: Alex, you're not the only one that falls asleep while on the 360! I do it a few times a month. My couch is so comfortable...it causes narcolepsy.

I didn't get the email yet with the stats, but Zeppo kicked my ass 24-7. I struggled on offense all night. His pass rush and run stuffing frustrated me early and then I lost my composure and started throwing passes against my body. At least I started doing a lot better on defense when I stopped trying to control anyone close to the ball on defense and actually forced a fumble, knocked some passes down, and got two picks by *not* switching players...LOL.

I suck but it's still fun. :D

Zepp got alot of points for beating you too(as he should).. and now has jumped into first place. I am having as much fun watching the rankings as I a playing the games.

*Nobody* should get a lot of points for beating me! There's a good chance that my league games will be my only games online and you guys are all better than the Heisman difficulty level :D

Exactly how it works, no. But a couple people from here helped me test it to make sure it was "working" correctly.

I did explain how it works here recently I think.. but I will do it again.

You get rewarded for winning based on point spread(up to 21). So if you win by 22, its exactly like you won by 21.

If you are a big underdog and lose you can still get(class points)... this is the only way to get points while you lose.

You get more points for beating a better team than you would a crappy team. However this is relative. For example, if you are #21 and you play #20, this game is exactly like the #2 team playing the #1 team. You might have the hardest schedule(playing the best teams), however if you are a highly ranked team too, then you won't have as many "potential" points as say a middle ranked or bad team that plays alot of good teams.

Its weighted to try and allow different ranked teams to compete and weed out the best player and not who just has the best team. That was my intention when writing it.

Maryland Wins First Road Game, Improves To 3-0

Post by Zeppo »

Maryland 24, Penn St. 7

UMD played their first road game of the young season, travelling to Happy Valley to take on Penn St., and came away with their third straight victory to start the season, winning 24 - 7 behind a dominating defensive performance and two touchdown passes from QB #14 Hollenbach.

The game started slowly, with a defensive field position battle dominating the first quarter. UMD was able to take advantage of the field position after a nice punt return to break the ice with a 47yd FG from kicker #39 Obi Egekeze, he of the big leg. Early in the second quarter, UMD extended their lead with a long drive, capped by a 2yd TD run from HB#44 Lance Ball. At the end of the half, UMD was able to put together a good 2 minute drive. From the 40yd line, Hollenbach hit WR#85 Terrell Skinner, a red-shirt Freshman, for the score to extend the lead at halftime to 17-0 for Maryland.

The second half saw more defensive play, and neither team could muster much on offense. Late in the third quarter, Penn St. finally got on the board with a 16yd TD pass from QB#14 Anthony Morelli to WR#2 Derrick Williams. The score cut the MD lead to 10, at 17-7, but that was as close as Penn St. would get. On the ensuing drive, the Terps drove the length of the field and added to their lead. From the 14yd line, Hollenbach called for a WR screen, but the corner jumped across the line of scrimmage and took away the receiver. Hollenbach looked up, and saw TE#13 Dan Gronkowski streaking past the pinching corner, and with no safety in sight, he made the easy throw for the score. The extra point made it 24-7, and that's where it would stay.

Penn St. could only muster 107yd of total offense against a game UMD defensive unit that gambled, and gambled right most of the time. Pinching in the middle when they needed to stop the run, covering with three deep to stop the long pass, the Terps defensive unit played like they had a man in the Penn St. huddle. QB#14 Morelli had 127yd on 9 for 21 throwing, with 1 TD and no INTs, but he was sacked a handful of times (forgot to figure out that number) for 32yd of losses in the passing game. Sr HB# 26 Tony Hunt only gained 18yd on 11 carries, and caught 2 balls for 15yds. The leading receiver for the Nittany Lions was #2 Derrick Williams who had 4 receptions for 46yd and 1TD.

Maryland meanwhile had enough success on offense to keep the Penn St. O. off the field, despite losing the turnover battle 3 to 1. QB# 14 Hollenbach threw 2 TDs and 2 INTs on the day on a 10 for 19, 179yd performance. HB#44 Ball gained 59yd on 21 carries with 1TD. WR#85 Skinner caught 2 balls for 55yd and 1 TD, while TE#13 Gronkowski caught 3 balls for 51yd and a score.

Penn St. 7 : 24 UMD

Total O - 107 : 238
Rushing - 13 for 12yd : 25 for 59yd 1TD
Passing - 9 for 21, 95yd 1TD : 10 for 19, 179yd 2TD 2 INT
1st Downs - 6 : 10
3rd Downs - 1 for 8 : 4 for 10
T.o.P - 9:41 : 14:23
Turnovers 1 : 3

Good game, Leebo. I really feel like I snuck by with this one. I was terrified you would start to pound away, but I guess I kept the ball enough and built just enough of a lead to keep you throwing. Somehow my D is rated poorly, but two of my impact players are on the D-line. Go figure! I don't know where the weakness is, but if I find it, I anin't tellin'!

Good luck the rest of the way! I'd love to play again with different teams, I'm sure we can find a matchup that will be very competitive.

You called a great game that's for sure. I've had ass whoopings in football and even had games where I lost by more points, but I've never felt helpless like that before. A couple times I ran running plays from 2nd and long and you backed off your secondary. There was one guy within 10 yards of the LOS and he would be the one that would blitz and meet the ballcarrier almost receiving the handoff. Another time on short yardage I called a play-action pass and the both the primary and secondary receiver were blanketed. Early in the game I tried to run up the middle on 3rd and one and there were 3 guys in the backfield. Counters and screens were useless. A few times I threw on the run against my body because I just couldn't believe that I had a man open somewhere on the field.

Well, since we're apparently never getting stats from EA for this one:

Louisville 23 Notred Dame 20

Louisville hung on for a victory over a game ND squad in a game marred by turnovers. The game was a tail of two very different halfs, with Louisville scoring all of their points early and watching ND climb back into the game in the 4th quarter. Only a devastating late INT and an injury to MVP Jeff Samardjiza ended ND's hopes.

Sully, if no one else can play you tonight I can go but I would rather you hook up with someone else that has only played 1 game.

AtXj11, nodnol4, Brando, Danimal, Sully, nyisles16 have only played one game. Please pick up the pace. I know some of you guys are posting from time to time looking for a game. Others seldomly post and are never on xbox live... AtXj11.. I have not seen you on live in almost 4 days and you have not posted anything here... Whats the deal?

Check your friends lists when you are online and if you see someone on your schedule you need to play, send them a message. They won't bite. And post some times here when you can play and will be online.

And props to grtwhtsk1 and vader for both being winless yet playing 4 games a piece. Its nice to see you guys not win and still remain interested. Nice job!
