That would be a shame. I really enjoy watching her compete in Indy cars.
Also, in Nascar she would be one of a hundred drivers, where in Indy, she is one of 25.

The money would be excellent for Danica, but she's making pretty good coin right now in IndyCars.

Odd, because Danica always has said she values her "down time" in Phoenix with her husband and loves being away from the spotlight. If she goes Cup, the spotlight will shine 100 times brighter than it does in IndyCar, and it will shine all year round. It will be 365 days of the Month of May at Indy if she's in Cup.

Plus I just don't know how well her skills will translate. Her racecraft is quite good for someone so inexperienced, but I'm not so sure if her car setup skills can match. And setup is pretty damn vital in Cup, just as vital as in IndyCar.

Finally, Danica isn't known as a demon on restarts on cold tires. Quite the contrary. Driving a 3,600-pound Cup car on the new harder Goodyear tire compounds is a lot like driving on cold tires for an IndyCar for the entire race.

Does Danica really want to do this, or is T.J. Patrick -- arguably the ultimate "racing dad" in all of the negative connotations -- pushing this move?

Maybe Neck can shed more light on all of these topics, as he's much more dialed into that world on a weekly basis than me.

Take care,

Anyone who passed freshman Physics can tell you that even a 100 lbs woman can gain enough leverage to move the racing world if she has a long enough stick.

I suspect TJ's comments are a negotiating tactic. Rahal, Honda and Tony George have to find the ways and mean$ to keep her in Indycar. If she goes South, I think Danica will struggle. Her practice of falling back on restarts and working her way back through the field won't work as well in NASCAR. The lack of drafting experience and partners who'll work with her could also be problematic.

BUMP.

She's staying the IndyCar Series and with AGR.

See the story at indycar.com and then watch the race from Michigan at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) Sunday on ABC Sports.

End shameless plug.

(Edited to add day of race)

Probably for the best, anyway. Danica's been good for Indy, although her season isn't the greatest this year. It's not all her fault, though.

Nothing shameless about plugging your bacon machine!
