Danimal - waiting for FK sounds good to me. Thank you for the update.Danimal wrote:Zep and GW - Seems like FK roster set is delayed, how long I do not know. Iam planning on waiting, but if you guys are in a rush there is a roster set by some DT guy, although posts on OS say he has tinkered with the ratings and it disables achievements or something.
I don't know anything about roster makers but I have heard of FK, so I am waiting. Also I got the memory cards for $30 instead of $40.

Well i figure we can use this thread as the 360 Impressions / discussion thread. maybe a mod can change the title.
Anyway I am really enjoying the game, I do think the controls at times feel a little sluggish at times for example hitting Y or A to try and defend a pass is a 50/50 thing for me at this point.
I am getting my ass handed to me on Heisman level, I am not sure how anyone is playing this with default sliders, i can't run the ball at all and I can't stop the run. I can even count the number of times the d-Line has blown my Tackles or guards off the ball. Perhaps I should vary my snap count more.
So I dropped down to AA, and I am enjoying it. The thing I like is I am seeing things in this game that make me go Wow! Last night i needed to score a TD in overtime and it was 4th and goal from the 5. My QB was under pressure and a DB tried to hit him high and he ducked under it, then a LB came from my right and I spund out of it and hit a TE who had borken free in the conrner. It was really cool to see.
There is plenty that is missing that is for sure, but I am happy with my purchase so I'm not even going to get the Xbox version.

i only buy sports games to play online. I don't know why i ever buy an EA product. There online servers are awful. The game is unplayable online. I played 5 games. All had either serious lag to unplayable lag.
I tried playing one game. It took over 1.5 hours to play b/c of the slowness of the game. The score was 75-50.
Smoothness of control, highframe rates and good respsonsiveness are keys in sports games. This game is broke at least online (its a little better offline).
Its too bad, b/c most of the problems like Running qbs, option and bombs have been improved.

Must be my lucky day. First I was able to exchange my Bose QC2 noise-cancelling headphones for the new QC3's for $50. Can't believe they gave me full purchase price for the QC2's after 3 months use. QC3's might not be worth it to some, but to me, the rechargable battery is a big plus and these headphones sound even BETTER than the QC2's which I was surprised.
Back OT....I took BF2 to Gamestop today to trade for the 360 version of NCAA. I was hanging on to BF2 to trade for NCAA, but my son opened the game while I was in Argentina last week dove hunting. I asked the Gamestop guy how much I would get in trade in and he said $25. I told him that it killed me to lose $35 just because my son opened the game when it wasn't his to open. The Gamestop guy had a peculiar look on his face when I made the statement. He then handed me NCAA and the receipt. I asked him how much the difference was and he said that this was Manager's discretion and he gave me full credit for BF2. I have to say I have not had a gesture or service like that from a game store employee in years. I will be back to shop at that Gamestop....
Now on to NCAA....have not played a football game in about 4-5 years, but I am really looking forward to this after the demo whetted my appetite....

That's an awesome story Divot...sometimes customer service actually surprises you. Same thing holds true with the Bose story. I've had nothing but good things to say about their customer service. I broke a pair of Tri-Ports 14 months after I bought them. I took them back to see if they could repair them (figuring I'd have to pay a bit) and they just swapped them out with a brand new pair. Gotta love that service.
If I travelled more I'd definitely get the QC3s...those things are great looking and sounding. The 2's were a little big for my tastes...hence the reason I stick with the tri-ports.
Enjoy NCAA...its a pretty badass game.

I have to say that I am really pleased with my $40 Frye's 360 version purchase so far.
The $40 was worth it just for the Tug of War mode alone. I had one epic 50+ play battle against UNLV last night(I'm an Aztec alum)that was completely engrossing.
I could pick up and play Tug of war all year and be happy with it all by itself....to bad they didn't make that mode online. What a blast.
My only complaint is that the tip and catch button on my middle line-backer is delayed.....is that the case for everyone? or does player ratings matter for that also?

For what it is worth...I could care less about the SI covers...and the frills....I just want to play the game and have fun doing so....the 360 version is perfect for me.

I was hooked on Tug of War mode last night too. What a fun little mini game. Perfect for just zoning out and playing football. It can get tense when you're backed up in your red zone as well. I love this game so far. Now if only they'd fix the PSP version I'd be in heaven.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

It's the best mini game I've ever seen. It's so much fun to battle back after giving up a big play.ScoopBrady wrote:I was hooked on Tug of War mode last night too. What a fun little mini game. I just figured out how to change the direction of a run play at the line of scrimmage. The manual lists the right stick as the way to do it, but does not explain that you have to click the right stick and then move it in the direction you want to change the run. This switches the run direction without reversing the play, so your line and receivers don't move. I assume that they do change their blocking assignments appropriately, however.

I bumped up the running attack for CPU and human last night by +5 and it seemed to help the running games. I may bump up the CPU a little more. Other than that I'm pretty darn happy with AA (OK, I suck...but I'm getting realism on AA so I haven't tried Heisman yet). The kickoffs are short, but I don't mind because I hate all the touchbacks in college football. I played 3 games last night w/o a blocked kick so that is good.
Aren't sacks recorded as rush attempts for the QB in college football? If so, the stats are wrong. Not a big deal, but shows the lack of attention to detail...like all the "NCAA 06" signs on some scoreboards.
I hope they clean up the faulty collision detection for Madden. Great game though!

Ahhhh...Thats what that sheet of paper is...Its a manual.kevinpars wrote:I just figured out how to change the direction of a run play at the line of scrimmage. That is My bigest and really only real complaint so far. That the game came without a manual. That thing is a f***in disgrace.
I don't have to click the stick at all. I change the direction of the run play all the time just by pushing the right stick left or right. The QB will step back and pat his ass, and you can see the switch in the coach's cam view.kevinpars wrote:I just figured out how to change the direction of a run play at the line of scrimmage. The only problems I've had online was being unable to connect to EA's servers a couple nights ago. I've only played a handful of online games, and only against people on my friends list, and have had no lag whatsoever, not even a little sluggishness. I have noticed some players zapping from one place to another in an instant in what looks like something that could be related to lag, and it is a little disturbing though very hard to notice, but I've had none of the sluggish online play that used to crop up all the time on the Xbox.anchester wrote: i only buy sports games to play online. Ii isn't 'broke' for me online, it plays great!
Gotta be able to sell the strategy guide, help pay off all the exclusive licenses. It's not just EA, but they do seem to be the worst about it. Then again, I remember having to rely upon an online manual for 2k5.XXXIV wrote:Ahhhh...Thats what that sheet of paper is...Its a manual.kevinpars wrote:I just figured out how to change the direction of a run play at the line of scrimmage. They all do it, but at least 2K used to put the manual in the f***in game itself so you could view it while playing.GTHobbes wrote:Gotta be able to sell the strategy guide, help pay off all the exclusive licenses. Strategy guides are the worst, the last decent manual I got in a game was Civ 4 or Galactic Civ.

Guys, my biggest gripe with the game right now is on D. How in the heck to I swat the ball down on a pass play? I have tried Y and itis a delayed catch animation. I have tried A and it is a delyaed stick the arm up. But my AI teammates jump and swat passes down with ease...how can I replicate that? I akm using a MLB....do I need a safety or CB to use the swat button with mroe effect?
