DSP Wednesday Night Racing: ToCA (7/12)

Post by Zeppo »

Folks:

Who's up for some ToCA racing tonight?

10:30p EDT is the time at which I'll set up a room. We can start with the karts as usual, and then who knows? A parade of favorites, to be sure.

I keep wanting to run those 80s F1 cars, but it seems like there are only a few of us who actually like them. I had thought they were general favorites; oh well. Otherwise I am partial to the non F1 open-wheeled cars in the game, the Palmers, and maybe a few others. Other ideas? OK, OK, we can do the Ariel Atoms, but don't blame me when you don't see another car after the first lap!

Also, some one has to remind me not to give in to the temptation to run a longer race. Nothing but Indy Cars at Indy seems to clear a room faster than a 10-lapper these days!

Who's in?

In.

I'm game for any car, including the 80s F1 cars, but I wouldn't mind a bit of touring car action mixed in. Sometimes the off-roaders can be fun, too.

But if it has four wheels and an engine, I'll be happy to race it!

See you cats tonight.

Take care,
PK

I'll give it a shot, even though I was worse than a 15 year old in his 1st day of driver's-ed class last time.

I would appreciate some of the easier handling classes Zep :D
Especially to begin with.

I'm not sure exactly what that means. I mean, I know you don't want the Lotus 49s or the 70s GT cars which can be hard to deal with, but what classes qualify as 'easier handling' classes? Or do you mean the lower-powered classes, like the Formula Fords and the Palmers?

In my opinion, there is no easier open-wheel car in the game to drive than the Formula 3's. They are VERY underpowered for their downforce, so it's damn tough to spin in them.

Racing the F3's is a matter of who has better lines and more balls under braking. Very forgiving, yet still quite fun.

Good racing last night, boys. It was nice to see some new faces up front, as it seemed everyone took turns leading at some point.

Neck, fine job winning a series last night. Can't remember the class -- F3? Either way, very nice job winning two of the three races in the series.

Zep, you were a paragon of consistency. Well done. I wish I could have given you more of a fight in some of the races, but I couldn't keep my head, wits or car together.

Fun, as always. Let's run again next Wednesday night! :)

Take care,
PK

I love Spa :D Its the only course I seem to remember the layout perfectly for. I also like the F3's a lot. Those last boxy cars we did (Renaults?) were fun also.......especially in the rain. Even though I suck, I still enjoy racing online with you guys. Although I did manage to pull out a 3rd place in one of the F3 races and I was leading for a while, but hit the wall and took too much damage ("we can fix that".....just come into the pits"). :D

yup- fun last night as always.. Zepp & I had a pretty good run at Spa (actually finished with my best finish there)... due to the loss of my front wing, i couldnt keep my car "steady" & Zepp passed me by a little ways from the finish...

Clios were just too fun to run

Good fun last night gang. I love running F3s (they suit my style) and I guess as many laps as I've done in V8 Supercars at Adelaide and Silverstone in Forza finally paid off.

Then again, I've probably run 1,000 laps of testing at Indy and still can't run flat out and stay clean around that joint :)
