This is one time I don't mind being "weak". You're not too far off of the four dollar mark.dbdynsty25 wrote:That's weak...just filled up this afternoon...a smooth 3.49 for the cheap stuff. Gotta love LA.Sudz wrote:same here.sportdan30 wrote:
Btw, gas here in St. Louis is hovering right around the three dollar mark.

My 2000 Volvo S40 got totalled in the tornado, as did my wife's 97 Altima, so we decided to bump down to one car and paid cash for a 2005 V70 wagon. No turbo, and not exactly cool, but it's good on gas, has cargo space that has already come in handy, and is extremely comfortable to drive.
I'm actually taking the bus to work (easy to do when the office is only 3 miles away).

Ding-ding: Three kids here, older two involved in sports, the wee one (16 months) will be soon. Plus the Frau and I also are involved in sports.fletcher21 wrote:just wondering why so many mini vans... i can't EVER see getting one unless i have 3 or more kids who are involved in sports.... i'd just feel so weak driving a mini van
When you have a sizable family, your primary car is about getting from Point A to Point B, and minivans do that better than any other vehicle for families.
Like you, Fletch, I was a staunch mini-van foe until we had our third kid in February 2005. Now I can't imagine being without one. So much easier to get kids and gear in and out.
But there's NO WAY on God's green earth that I'd drive one if I was single without kids or married without kids. At those times, primary cars still have some sex appeal.
You'll be happy to hear that my 5-year-old son and I already are putting together our plan for World Rally domination. When he gets older, I will drive a Subaru WRC car with him as my co-driver. I offered him the drive, but he's fascinated with pace notes and co-driving. We will OWN the stages from the Finnish forests to the Catalunya asphalt to the Swedish snow.

Take care,
PK

I love my Odyssey, and I don't even have any kids
Trust me, once you have one, you can't go back. My third row seats are permanently folded so I have a huge "trunk", my wife and I go to Long Island for an all day shopping extravaganza every month or two.... BJs, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, Michaels, Electronique Boutiques (c'mon, I gotta get my gaming fix), etc.... It can hold everything and then some.
(Well, we do have 2 dogs, but they are tiny, they are only 8 and 6 lbs)

We have a 3 year old and a 10 month old...got rid of an explorer when we got the odyssey in March. I love it so much that I make my wife drive the Camry as I have to drive the van. Unlike an SUV, its easy to get in and out of, seating and storage options a plenty...I dont care what people think of me. I hope this is the first of many more vans that I own. Besides, when I want to feel manly, I drive the S2000.
For what its worth, I found a neat gadget at www.sackso.com. Its a platform to mount a portable dvd player in cars/SUVs/minivans.. Great for long trips, much cheaper ($29) plus dvd player of your choice than having one installed. We used this baby to drive to Fla and it was perfect. But around town the dvd player is never in the car as the kids dont need it. Ive written the guy who owns the company and he's a pretty cool dude, so I dont mind pimpin his product...for what its worth.

Hell, my cats are 14 and 11 pounds! The late, great Sid, my first cat who died in 2001, topped out at 17 pounds!dbdynsty25 wrote:Those are not dogs. Those are paperweights. 1999 BMW 328i Convertible.
Older, but still in great shape. 70k in miles and the convertible top is nice to have in FL. Still, I plan to trade it soon in favor of a hybrid Camry or Prius. I've got an environmentalist heart and only use the car to go back and forth to work. I care a lot more about my XM Satellite Radio and iPod integration than the engine, body or anything else at this point.
Anyone with experience with a hybrid? Comments?
