I'll second the Pronger rumour, though I only heard it from a guy on my softball team. ;)

So I come home from work today and the first thing I see on the news is that FSN Pittsburgh has fired Mike Lange as Penguins announcer, WTF?

Supposedly they have given him an offer to do radio play by play but he hasn't decided if he is going to accept that or not.

Say what? There's only one larger legend in Penguins' hockey, and that's No. 66.

Take care,

I wouldn't be surprised. His wife is from there and they just had twins too, although their two elderly daughters were raised in VAN city and Ed still mentioned that ideally he would stay in Vancouver. But with the big bucks signing Luongo today, I wonder if there's enough to go around.

I know that situation all too well thanks to the Hawks and Comcast Sports Net f***in over the great Pat Foley here in Chicago.

I read the Jovanovski's still live in Boca Raton during the offseason. Jovocop was quoted on TSN.com earlier this week as saying he's very interested in returning to the Panthers for that reason and because buddy Bertuzzi now is in South Fla.

I think it's almost a given that Jovo is going to the Panthers, which probably would remove Florida from the Pronger Derby.

Take care,
PK

It seems like a few teams have already removed themselves from the Pronger sweepstakes. With Toronto and Ottawa re-signing McCabe and Redden respectively and Jovo more than likely signing with Florida where do you guys think Pronger ends up now? I think Anaheim has the most to offer but then again it might not take as much as originally thought to get a deal done. The Flyers are awfully quiet on this topic...

Why would Anaheim need Pronger with Niedermayer already on the team? That said, Anaheim has a lot of young forwards to offer, such as Getzlaf, Perry, Penner and Lupul. So maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing for the Oil.

Although unlikely, if K. Lowe can't find a team for Pronger, he should sit and rott.

Well the rumors are saying that Anaheim is very much in the running and they've got the most to offer without a doubt.

I'm counting down the hours until Elias signs away as an UFA :x

Last year we lost Nieds even though we offered the max allowed b/c he wanted to play with his brother.

This year, we're likely to lose Patty as he is intent on testing the FA market and Lou's desparation signings of Malakhov and Mogilny from last year are finally coming back to haunt him to the tune of a 7m dollar cap hit

They probably overachieved this year considering their overall lack of size and a shortage of skill up front. It sucks to be entering a FA signing period where your team is as likely to worsen through attrition than get better through new acquistions.

I sense a rebuilding phase coming for the Devs, but have been surprised before... :?

By the way the Blues ownership change is official and John Davidson is the new GM. He was introduced at a press conference tonight. Big changes are in store. Lets see if they make a splash tomorrow at noon!
Also they announced that Brett Hull's #16 will be retired this season!!! What a way to come in and get the fans fired up!!!
It's a good time in St. Louis right now!

This is as big as the Pirates firing Bob Prince in the 70s. Myron Cope left on his own terms. There are no three bigger names in Pittsburgh Sports Broadcasting. I taught my kids hockey through Mike Lange. I'm 44 and have been listening to Lange for 30 seasons. He was my last remaining sportslink to my childhood, where sports is magic and not a business. For some of us he's bigger than Mario.

Pisani reportedly re-signs with the Oil:

Great news, but no surprise there. He's a native Edmonton boy and beloved there.

Reports out of Edmonton say they re-signed Roli for 3 more years.....

Shame for Ottawa to lose Chara, but they couldn't afford the 7.5 mill a year he's getting from Boston for the next 5 years! And a no trade clause to boot.

Guess he's out of the Wings future, as is Chara, not that they could afford him after resigning Lidstrom. Still looking for a #1 goalie and a physical defenseman. Maybe Aron Ward, as he still has a house in Detroit.

Well, I'll happily eat crow on this as it appears Patty has decided to stay in a Devils' sweater to the tune of 7yrs, 6mil/per.

Well, it was tough signing Jovocop with much of the money going to R. Luongo, but Canucks did the next best thing in signing W. Mitchell who's originally from here. He's solid and adds toughness, doesn't move the puck as well as Jovo but he's here for the next four years. Good move.

With OTT signing M. Gerber, is the career of the "Dominator Hasek" all but over?

Hard to believe, but BOS is spending money?
