There are reports that Mark Cuban and Dan Marino are joining a group to buy the Penguins and keep the team in Pittsburgh. This is great news if true and I am hoping that they end up with the team and we don't get to see the Hartford Penguins.

Hartford never drew well...Went to a few Bruins/Whalers games and us Bruins fans would take over that building all the time.

Hartford drew just fine - especially considering the size of the city.

The reason Bruins fans overwhelmed the Whaler fans is that the Bruins were around forever (with great success), and they represented all of New England for decades. My family that lived in Hartford were big Whaler fans, but grew up with the Bruins and dug out the jerseys and hats and such for the few times a year they saw them.

If all goes well, at least M. Cuban's antics can get a few highlight reels in the US.

Apparently Peca wants out of Edmonton too. What the hell is going on in Edmonton that guys don't want to play there? All the sudden Edmonton is the new version of Winnipeg or Quebec.

Peca is no surprise. He alluded to "family adjustments" all season long. His family was firmly entrenched in Long Island and Buffalo during their time there. They really like New York.

Plus Peca was widely considered to be a "one and done" after the wretched regular season he had.

Peca saved his value with his strong postseason play, but I'm not sure that a guy who scores nine goals in a season is worth a long-term deal at $4 million per year.

With Peca, I'm not sure it's so much that he wants out as much as Edmonton doesn't want to re-sign him at the terms he desires.

Peca's departure is no bombshell, at least not to me.

Take care,
PK

I doubt it. Again, a guy who had a mediocre regular season and playoffs since he arrived from Boston yet will command big money. Someone will overpay for him, and it won't be Edmonton.

Sammy was rumored to be gone, even during the playoffs. No surprise if he leaves. His agent sent out pleasant, "Sergei really enjoys Edmonton," signals this week, but I think it's a smokescreen.

Among Edmonton's UFA's, I think Pisani and Spacek are the must-signs for the Oil. Roli borders on a must-sign, but it depends on the length of the deal he wants when you consider that he's going to be 37 on Opening Night.

All three restricted free agents, Stoll, Hemsky and Horcoff, must be re-signed to long-term deals.

Take care,
PK

if pittsburgh could get him on the cheap...imagine him with crosby....

i think edm could either be a top 5 team or miss the playoffs completely next season....

hope they reload...and make a run

This could be the Sabres new logo or it could be a fake. After reading the Sabres message boards one guy that appears to be in the know and who people seem to respect believes that this is indeed the Sabres new logo. OUCH...Not what I was expecting.
I don't understand why it's so hard just to update their old classic sweaters and be done with it. That's what everybody wants...why mess with tradition.
It might look better on the jersey but damn...just go back to the old logo and end it!

JimD....have you heard anything?

Well the Ducks have a new logo and colorscheme and there were also rumors that the Capitals were going back to the Red, White, and Blue but so far haven't seen anything on that yet.
RBK does have a deal with th NHL to modify jersey's for the 2007-08 season and from what i've read under this deal several teams would have to alter their logo for these new style jerseys. These teams include the Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs as well as the Montreal Canadiens. Could you imagine some RBK exec telling the Leafs or Canadiens that we have to modify your logo!!!

The way I look it at is that it's not any worse than their current logo, plus they go back to at least a blue and gold type of color scheme. Logo aside though going back to the blue and gold almost makes it a winner in my book. The 3rd jersey could just be their actual current 3rd jersey but in blue and gold and that would be okay with me. That big ugly goathead and the red and black had to go though. I prefer the old logo but i'll compromise that with the blue and gold. However i should point out that it will need to be a traditional jersey style for me to really like it.

Nothing has been said much during the regular season but if you recall, Peca was invisible pretty much during the 1st half of the season. MacT ripped him appart several times and from then on their relation was never the same.

Rumors are starting to circulate that Pronger may have had an affair with an Edmonton tv personality. Possible lovechild involved. Rumors at this point but the affair appears to possibly be legit. Maybe the most hated woman in Edmonton won't be Lauren Pronger after all. It might be an Edmonton gal!

Well this girl seems to be everyone in Edmonton's guess.

http://www.citytv.com/edmonton/personalities_11461.aspx

Suprisingly she also has her own website which all the sudden has been taken down or impossible to get too.

I want to add that this is still only a rumor. I feel like i'm slandering the guy but I know that inquiring minds want to know!

It didn't take long. Canucks sign R. Luongo in a four year deal worth $27 million. Now hopefully there's enough $$$ left for Jovocop.
