Germany dominating.

But man those two yellows on Lucic?

And on the other end, the few chances Sweden gets, they're getting manhandled down there.

There has to be a no tolerance policy in this WC. I mean the yellows are being consistently called...they are consistantly harsh.

If Sweden has shows one thing is that their defense can be spotty. Will Germany's defense hold up against Argentina? I think Germany and Argentina is a great match-up but for a win , they will have to face the attacks of Tevez, Messi, etc. Germany needs to root for a Mexican upset.

Mexico are going to be murdered. They're a shambolic mess and the Argentines are on a mission.

Might need a mercy rule for that game.

And those two guys are usually on the bench as they played vs the Dutch only because of rest for Saviola and Crespo.

You're right, I thought Saviola was injured. I should have known Crespo. He plays for my Newcastle FM game and I always order him not to play in friendlies. Haha.

Nostrodamus I'm not - which is why I rarely bet on games!

Good half by Mexico who could be ahead. Borgetti is really causing Argentina some anxious moments at the back and the pace of Mexico seems to be disrupting Argentina's movement.

30 Minutes to go,

Mexico are playing their hearts out. It will be one of the all-time World Cup shock upsets if they manage to pull the game out.

Just hope we don't have penalties...

Dazzling goal. The Mexican defense really stepped up after two sub-par performances, but it wasn't enough. CONCACAF flushes out.

Argentina versus Germany - that could be quite a barn burner the way both teams have been playing. Germany have feel pretty good having seen Mexico stymie the Argentines for much of the game. Mexico's D played a terrific game and proved far tougher for Argentina to crack than I would have guessed.

I love the new ball - there have been a boatload of fantastic goals at this world cup so far.

I know it provides spectacular goals but knowing FIFA they will over do it. We'll get a moon ball next WC where you can hit it in row z and it will bend in.

Looks like it's going to be a scorcher for the England - Ecuador game. After the earlier England crying about the heat, it'll be interesting to see how they respond.

Well gang, I have returned Stateside. It's a bummer that there was no reason to extend my trip. My seat at the Ghana game was interesting. I really wanted to stand with the Sam's Army up there in the corner and contribute to the noise, but I couldn't get out of the area of the stadium that my ticket was allotted for. The place was well sectioned off.

Anyhow my seat was right next to the tunnel to the locker rooms. It was tough to see the action on the far side of the field (for example, when Reyna went down it looked to me like he was hammered, but I couldn't really tell, and I had no idea McBride hit the post off of that corner kick), but it was cool to be so close to them coming on and off. The goal we scored was created right in front of me, with Beasley doing all the work. I even said hi to good ol' Shelly Smith at halftime. She was very nice and friendly.

Boy was Bruce pissed off after the game. He jetted out pretty fast, and the look on his face could've burnt through solid steel. I presonally think it's pretty damn lame to blame a poor result on a bad call, particularly considering that the team scored 2 goals in the whole tournament. Yeah, the PK was bullshit, but the bottom line is you have to score goals.

Who knew that the stadium in Nürnberg is right next to the Norisring? I had to ask a policeman on the way out to make sure, but yeah, we had to go across the racetrack right near the start/finish line to get to the train.

Well now it's back to the humdrum world of NYC. My goodness is it muggy here! No more brats, no more good beer, no more schnitzels, what am I gonna do? At least there are green things to eat here. . . I think we call them 'vegetables' or something? I forget!

Absolutely rubbish 1st half display there from England. Ecuador should be up 1-0 but Ashley Cole was terrific racing back to deflect the shot.

God the midfield looks abysmal. Have Lampard and co. strung more than 3 passes together yet? Rooney looks a forlorn figure up front but that's hardly surprising - England have exchange booting long balls up to Rooney for booting long balls up to Crouch. Shocking, shambolic mess of a game. Unless they raise their game up exponentially they'll deservedly go out in the next round against a far superior opponent - that's assuming they even make it out of this game.

Marginally better display in the second half - but for most of the game England displayed a complete lack of tactical ability that will be exposed by a better team. They're pretty much a one trick pony - either they score from a free kick or corner or they don't score at all.

Lampard has completely lost all confidence out there and isn't able to complete a pass or through ball let alone hit a good shot on net. I think the winner of Portugal vs Holland is going to be licking their chops going into the their quarterfinal game. Nothing defensively, in midfield, or on the attack to really put any fear into an England opponent at the present time.

Terribly uninspiring. Seemed like Gerrard and Beckham & Rooney were playing alone at times. Becks really played well, I think. He was tracking back on defense effectively too. Gerrard's heart seemed there, but the execution was lacking. Lampard was woeful.

That said, I think they can handle Portugal or the Dutch. They still haven't played their best football, and they may never hit their stride. But it's not like either of those quarterfinals matchups is Brazil or Argentina.

Once England scored the first goal and Ecuador came a lil bit out of that pack My 18 style soccer( I hate the f***in garbage)...England looked pretty good except for Lampard...yuck...did he suck balls...

Whats the deal with Ecuador being content to lose 1-0...Talk about negative football...

I admire the way Mexico played vs Argentina...It would have been easy for them to play like ecuador and sit on their asses, pack their side and bore Me to death ... but they went for it ...and for the most part, I thought, outplayed Argentina. They were in the end unlucky . I would have liked to have seen them rewarded.

Was a great goal though...
