Hey guys,
Curious -- do you get any pass rush at all with your Dline? I'm trying to do line shifts, pep talks, anything I can think of but every sack and even every pressure I get is from a blitzing LB or DB. Are you seeing this, too, or is it just my weak-ass line (quite possible...)

Now that you mention it, all of my sacks have come from linebackers as well. Hmmm.Bill_Abner wrote:Hey guys,

Last game got a sack with my DE Aaron Kampman and my DT grady Jackson.Bill_Abner wrote:Hey guys,

I finished the pre-seaon with 4 sacks by dlinemen , 1 by a LB, and 1 by a DB.

No. I actually play a pretty vanilla defense. Only thing I have really done, is when I know the next defensive series is going to be mostly a passing situation, (End of half, game, I have a lead, etc), I go to the bench and tell my Dline to start playing for the pass.Bill_Abner wrote:Were you doing anything to help cause them? Shifts? A particular play?

Not having online subs is something I'm starting to enjoy...same with no presnap adjustments.
All of this is from online games with bdunn and bkrich, and no career stuff:
I think the more you talk to your players and motivate them, the more success you have. Brooks threw a pick against BK, and I went and consoled him like a little b*tch. The next drive, he methodically marched my offense down the field 80+ yards on a long TD drive and tied the game.
Establishing the run is critical. Tight games I've played online have become blowouts when I have worked the running game for 3 quarters. I'm talking 7 guys getting blown off the ball and pancaked and the tailback just scampering through. In 2 games today with bk, we had a 75 yard pass off of play action to Marvin Harrison, a 69 yard run with Justin Fargas (again after telling Fargas to bounce it outside, then telling the LT to engage his defender and turn him in...Fargas broke one tackle, juked outside and raced to paydirt), a 50+ yard run with LaMont Jordan, and a 6.2 ypc average with Dominic Rhodes.
Your receivers CAN get YAC, which is awesome. Brooks threw a hitch to Jerry Porter and the corner overplayed it, allowing Porter to gain another 15 yards until the safety cut him off. Crossing routes are gorgeous...I was blitzing one time and bk's Carson Palmer hit a crossing Chad Johnson. He took about 1 step and then cut it upfield, turning a 3 yard pattern into a 14 yard gain.
Getting tricky can really fool the defense. I hit a flea flicker today for a 40 yard gain down the sideline.
Draws are money if you can catch the defense in a pass rushing situation. I can't tell you how good James Mungroe looked today because I would call a draw in 2nd and 11 or 3rd and 8. It's fantastic.
Bottom line, you get so immersed in online play, you forget you're playing a game and not watching an NFL game. It's that good online.
Oh, one more thing: online, there does seem to be a lot of picks. Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer combined for 7 in our game, but Palmer was rocketing everything low and Nick Harper kept jumping it. Peyton was tossing everything like a lob and the defense closed and got it.
BK and I both agreed that we should have talked to our QB's early on about changing their throwing style and the problem could have been avoided, more than likely. They really do respond to what you tell them, so I think a lot of the picks issue is the person playing not trying to talk to the QB. When I took the time to talk to Brooks on the sideline, he almost always responded well on the next series. I can afford to give up a 1st down playcall on D now and then to make sure my QB and I are on the same page.
I'm thinking that the interceptions could be a result of EA forcing you to micromanage a bit and interacting with your QB more than a real coach has to. It's not like we have QB coaches and OC's and staff members to go and console a QB and offer instruction, so I'll play more games and try paying more attention to my QB's play and seeing how it works out.

Dang you all, the more I read about the game the more I want to go out and get it. Just curious about a couple of things. First of all, do you have to coach the elite players as much as the others? I can understand if you have to coach a qb such as Aaron Brooks...but at the same time, I think if I tried to coach Brady, he would just get pissed off at me and do his own thing.
Other question is..does weather come into play?

I've had 2 games in the rain so far, and fumbles were in abundant supply. I didn't see anybody slip and fall down, or anything, though.Zlax45 wrote:Is there any weather in this game?? Good question...I played a game last night and don't remember a weather option.
And I would think Peyton Manning is an elite player, and he would hit a lot of open guys and play very well, except for the occasional lob toss that was getting picked off. I don't think you have to coach him to the level of Aaron Brooks, but maybe an early "put your arm into it" when I see a ball floating would do the trick.
Do you have my Xbox live name?Badgun wrote:Man, did anyone buy this game? I went online twice today looking for a game and both times there were three people online...me and two other guys that must have been playing each other.
If anyone has the Xbox version and wants to try out a game online, let me know what time you want to play.

Someone has posted over at football freaks and over at FOFC with a screenshot that shows they figured out how to change the quarter length. Now.. it could be a doctored pic, but if he did that would be great.
He said he's working on a utility to change the quarter length as well as set sliders. Interesting....

I lost a 3 hour save today because I had a power surge and it might have screwed it up...I am so mad right now!!!MizzouRah wrote:Someone has posted over at football freaks and over at FOFC with a screenshot that shows they figured out how to change the quarter length. Got it last night and popped it in around midnight. Next thing I know it's 3:00 pm and I didn't want to go to bed. I spent more time with it this afternoon and was able to get to training camp. I'm having a lot of fun with it but I wasn't thrilled with resigning players. Last I heard it was the GM's job not mine.
I should have input as to gets resigned but I shouldn't have to negotiate the contract.

I am a patient boy.
