I have only watched 2 of the vids, but the game looks better than it did at E3 from what I have seen.

The player is a complete cheeser though. If the game is as fun as it looks, I might not need to buy 2 versions like I had planned.

what is the actual release date for this game, I've been seeing different dates. The most recent Game Informer mag has July 4th, but I thought I saw a later date on gamestop or eb gamesites.

EA's site and EB/GameStop are listing July 18 as the release day.

It is a yearly ritual with sports games: IGN gets an early copy and posts videos and the 2 guys playing are complete cheesers - with lots of 20 step drops and long bombs - making it impossible to get any sense of the gameplay or AI. But the game looks great. Of course there are some posters over at OS who are finding uniform and field issues that make the game unworthy of purchase - but that happens every year. I think some of them are Sony fanboys who are just pissed that they are a year away from playing next gen college football.

I know there are a lot of people here who would prefer that the game come out in late August when the season starts, but there is nothing I like better than to spend a long hot summer afternoon with the air conditioning turned to chilly and playing out some of the big games of 2006.

The animations and overall game looks much, much, much more polished than the direct-feed E3 build videos that they gave us.

I went from cautiously optimistic to pumped as all hell.

Camera looks more pulled back at the LOS than Madden 360. That's better.

But NCAA has always had a higher camera angle than Madden.

Since these games are more designed for HDTVs, you would think they'd made more use of the widescreen aspect ratios and show at least the slot WRs without having to use the coach's cam.

Otherwise, looks great.

What are going to be the options for getting named rosters imported into your HDD? Is there some Action Replay or Max Drive out for the X360 yet?

Yeah, there's a Transfer Kit that's cheap as hell; you just have to buy a memory card.

Worked great for me to get some Fight Night Round 3 cabs a couple months back. I know there's 2 devices, one is like a hard drive with a USB port on it or something, but they both use the same save file system so either one you get should be ok.

The transfer kit is the "standard" though (if there is one).

Sold!

Okay, jumping the gun a bit, but these videos look more polished than the actual Madden game from last year. Loved how the USC RB reached out for the pitch that was slightly behind him and the more realistic stiff-arm motion. You also really get a good sense of space in the stadiums.

NCAA is one of those games I'm glad comes out super early, because it gives the naming crews a head start on making rosters.

I do imagine they have a wider camera angle to choose for HDTVs. These looked like default cams to me.

Isn't there suppose to be some user-created content like custom ramps or whatever in the Marketplace?

That would have worked for edited rosters. Of course NCAA would have complained about XBL hosting those files because of the legal ramifications.

The other thing is isn't there suppose to be some connectivity between MSN Messenger and XBL? It should be technically feasible to send files via IM.

s***, I was sold long before any videos were released.

These just fired me up even more than I already was. The thread at OS is strait up comical IMO. Finding things in these vids to state the game is not worthy of purchase. If that's the case they're probably not footbal videogame fans anyway.

I think people forget we're talking 1's and 0's here and to me this game looks friggin incredible.

There are some more videos (better ones, in my opinion) at TeamXbox. Check out the link.

Those videos kill the IGN ones. I'm liking what I see in the passing game in particular although everything looks pretty solid.

Videos look great but good lord the commentary is identical again. Injury animations, this is next gen how about giving the trainer some f***in credit and putting him in the game. I know little nitpicks but man oh man.

I guess just getting it on the 360 is a plus.

HAHA...at least if you're gonna give them credit, get their position correct: Athletic Trainer...my girlfriend (who is one) would be PISSED if she read someone call them "trainer" without the "athletic" part.

I guess it's just me but those video's just aren't doing it for me. After returning my first 360 my goal was to purchase a 360 again when NCAA came out but it doesn't look like even that game will be enough to win me over. Looks like i'll be sticking with my regular Xbox for possibly another year.

What didn't you like, Tim?

The last two editions of NCAA on the XBox didn't do much for me, so this is the first time I've been excited about the game in a while.

Well i should say that I only looked at the IGN videos, not the TeamXbox videos. I guess my reason is because I need a game that's going to sell me on the system and I just don't feel that after seeing those vids that NCAA is that game. Kind of crazy considering Madden 06 actually sold me on the 360 the first time around.

Yeah, I am much more excited about a tweaked and developed Madden 360 engine than I would be another year of this series on Xbox. I absolutely hated NCAA 2005 and could barely stand 06.

I know I was in the minority, but I actually really liked Madden 06 on Xbox 360 (I guess I was more forgiving of the "unfinished" nature of that product). In fact, I still own it and play it occassionally. I'm stoked for the next editions of both NCAA and Madden.

I'm with Leebo. I would frankly be shocked if the PS2/Xbox versions are anything more than a tweaked version of the game we have been getting for years (excellent 2004, bad 2005, better but still not great 2006). I just have played that game to death over the past few years and a new coat of paint just wouldn't do it for me.

The new engine means a lot of potential for me. I played a lot of Madden 2K6 and despite the fact that it was an incomplete game with some really bad bugs (the QB passes/fumbles, the AI FGs that never missed the target, swing passes that led the receiver out of bounds 99% of the time, etc) it had a lot of potential. I just hope that the sliders are powerful enough to tune the game as I am sure that there will be issues with the default setup.

As for how it looks, it is hard for me to tell how a game will look based on low rez videos and screenshots. I would wait until seeing the game up and running before coming to conclusions.

But you really wonder if all the gameplay flaws -- suction blocking, ease of long passes, dropped passes -- will carry over to the new graphics engine.

It sounds like a lot of the old Madden problems carried over to Madden 360 so the burden is on EA to prove there is more under the surface of next-gen graphics.

Suction blocking is absolutely horrible in Madden 360 along with player momentum. I don't think long passes are too easy and dropped passes aren't an issue at all. There is some "Mario Running" though.

I think the playcalling AI in Madden 360 is really good along with the core statitistics (I've never been one to get overly excited about unrealistic "pancakes") with little slider tweaks. I hope that carries over to NCAA and Madden.

edit: when I say the stats are good I mean the games that are played. I don't think there has been a Madden released yet that has good simmed stats, which makes me very hesitant to pick up NFL Head Coach.

do you guys really expect dramatic change in gameplay? I just don't believe that. i think it will be 95% the same gameplay.. just better graphics and a few better looking tackles and catches.
