TSN reported this morning that Weight has a separated shoulder and left the arena in a sling. So, we'll see.

I think this series is going to 7 games. I'm not going to predict who wins, as much like the players, I'm going "one game at a time", but I think if the Oil can put another effort like that in, WITH 17,000 screaming fans, it will be a site to behold!

It really doesn't matter who was out there, you learn in your first organized hockey league you don't make that particular pass. That's the kind of play that could cost the Canes the Cup. It might not look like it yet, but that play could turn out to have "Steve Smith" like consequences.

Yes the pass had some risk too it but so do 70 other passes in front of the net or across the ice, if you look closer the oiler play got his stick on the players stick halting any follow thru hence the weak pass , a great forecheck realy and a greater finish.

Actually a great whine...considering the Oilers handed these guys two wins with much worse plays in games #1 and 4...

It'll be interesting to see how tired and injured are the Canes, especially the Defense as B. Hedican leads in minutes now, he played almost 25 minutes, M. Commodore about 22 minutes and usually the Canes' defense spread their minutes around 18 each. A. Ward may have a concussion and Wesley is hurt too.

I doubt D. Weight will dress up for game 6, so anything can happen at the Rextall on Saturday night.

Yep, the best play of the game by the most complete player in Game 5, Ethan Moreau.

More good Oilers' karma. Moreau is missing his two front teeth, so his nickname is "Chopper." My 7-year-old daughter's first front tooth fell out about 10 days ago, and I told her she would have the new nickname of "Chopper," after Moreau, if her other front tooth fell out before the end of the Stanley Cup Finals. She loved the idea.

The second tooth fell out yesterday at school, so we have Chopper II here at Chez Kelly. Might not have happened if the real Chopper didn't make that fine play while shorthanded in OT Wednesday night.

What a f***in clueless sack of s***.

With him as NBCs voice of hockey....Hockey has no chance in this country.

Not only does he have no idea whats happening I think he must be legally blind. He looks at replays and mis announces them....

sighs...pathetic.

Gotta beg to differ with you on this one, 34. You could have the leading Hockey Night in Canada team of Bob Cole and Harry Neale, which is hockey's answer to Sominex.

Neale might be the worst analyst in the NHL. All he does is recite game stats and meaningless season and career stats all night.

I think JD is excellent. But my favorite analyst is at the desk for NBC this series -- Ray Ferraro. He's the Oilers' analyst on Rogers Sportsnet along with play-by-play man Kevin Quinn.

Still, no two-man team tops Jim Hughson and Greg Millen for CBC. Cole and Neale should be put out to pasture so these two guys can assume the throne.

And RAFFI! 2-0 OIL!

When a guy is slashed on his bare hand on the most obvious penalty of the game and the ref ignores it...I want the announcers to say missed slash....Not that the game is on...

They f***in suck balls!

I have never seen worse announcing or color in any sport ever.

The Oil's effort has been amazing through two. Easily their best defensive effort of the regular season or postseason.

But I'm a bit worried about the third because the Oil seemed to abandon their ferocious hitting for the last five or six minutes of the second period. Combine that with Laviolette's deft timeout and rant at the 'Canes, and Carolina could crawl back into this.

The Oil needs to start the third hitting like cars on a crash test sled. They need to use the body to eliminate Carolina's will.

Wow, that was a ridiculous save by Ward.

And for the record, Eddie O didn't say Cole was the best player in the NHL. He said Laviolette claimed before the Olympics that Cole was the best player in the NHL, that Cole was the one player around whom he would build a franchise. Eddie O was just the messenger.

Okay...lets say thats true...hard to hear I have rexall noise in here...Eddie didnt seem to do anything but embrace it.

I dont care...really...I just think these guys suck...the announcers I mean...I think carolina is a bad ass team...

There's only one recent U.S. network team that I think compares to Doc and JD. Let's see if we're on the same wavelength, or if we've had the same amount of rum tonight.

F*CK YEAH! Bring on Game 7!

That was the Oil's most complete game of the regular season or postseason. They absolutely dominated that game from every angle. The Oil allowed only 16 shots and scored three power-play goals. Plus they hit Carolina out of the rink.

Peca and Torres were outstanding tonight. Raffi was first star of the game at NHL.com, and it's hard to disagree with that. He continued to hit everything that moved and scored the crucial second goal. Plus he was defensively sound and stayed out of the box.

But Peca was the Oilers' best forward tonight. The guy was so disruptive while forechecking and had a ton of jump. Plus he was flying in the Oilers' offensive zone.

Pronger was the best Oilers' defenseman by a mile. Yeah, Spacek had two assists, but Prongs made big hits, had no turnovers that I can recall, made excellent decisions on breakout passes, as usual, and logged a ton of ice time, also as usual. Great game.

The biggest change in this game for the Oil came on the power play. Scoring three goals on the PP was obvious, but it wasn't the pure numbers: It was the WAY they did it.

The Oil finally ended their dependence on the points during the power play. Everything didn't stem from Pronger and his partner on the blue line. The Oil cycled the puck down low better on the PP and also put guys in the high slot for the first time on the PP in this series. The power play used the center of the ice for the first time instead of being pinned on the perimeter and the point. Huge improvement.

This series is reminding me so much of the San Jose series that it's eerie. The Oilers were down 2-0 in that one, won Game 3 on an OT goal and then won the next three. And the bedrock of that series win was physical play. The Oil started hitting everything that moved in Game 3 and wore out the Sharks physically and mentally. The same thing is happening in this series.

I don't give a sh*t about the numbers overwhelmingly favoring the home team in Game 7. Let's go to Raleigh, and LET'S GO OILERS!

Monday night is JD's last game as a color man at least for the next 5 years. He's accepted a postion to become the new president of the Blues which will be announced this thursday.
