Roger is a smart man. At his age, and by the way his performance tailed off at the end last year, he takes the first couple months off and can be strong through September.grtwhtsk wrote:Clemens makes it official and is back with the Astros. Is anyone surprised? Good for Roger and all the money he is taking from them. Like anyone really expected that he was serious about the NYY, Bosox, or Rangers. It was totally a play by him and his agents to keep that price real high. Well, it worked.

Hehe...just because a guys trainer is supplying HGH to major league players doesn't mean that the best player in baseball is using. Wait a min...didn't this entire story just go down like 2 years ago? F'n deja vu.RobVarak wrote:To quote that esteemed bard Glenn Frey, The Heat is On:

Thought this was funny.
Joe Mauer's on-base percentage through yesterday = .440
Rondell White, Twins DH on-base PLUS sugging = .436
Mauer is on an absolute tear right now, driving the ball around the entire field and hitting .379 in his age 23 season. Along with Santana and Liriano, he's really the only reason to sit through a Twins game right now.

But if you put Prior on one of the Twins' AL Central championship squads, the team might have accomplished more than one ALCS appearance. Think about facing Santana and Prior back-to-back...
Right now, Mauer looks like a safer long-range player though. For as much of a crapshoot as the MLB draft is, that was a great year. Didn't Teixeira go #4 to the Rangers?

Leyritz and all his records should be expunged from the record book! Do you realize that if a drugged up Leyritz had been "clean" and had popped out instead of going deep against Wohlers in the 96 series that the Braves would probably not only have two World Series rings, but at least four! Bobby Cox would be the greatest manager of all time and that loser Joe Torre would probably now be doing color on ESPN games. All because some hyped up player in pinstripes thought he was above the law.

It was Bobby Cox's move that started the Braves skid 2 weeks ago... Ramirez had pitched great for 6 innings. In the 7th he got into trouble and was obviously tiring... Bobby let him stay in till the 8th. Of course he never retired another batter and Ramirez went on to lose while pitching 7 innings and giving up 0 earned runs. Couple that with the fact that Reitsma is still on the roster and thats why the Braves will not win the division this year. Hopefuly we can get a new manager FINALLY!

The Braves are playing like they're tired of winning the East.
The Phills are about to be swept by the Mets if they don't comeback late.
**Edit**
Mets end up sweeping the Phils. 9-1 in the road trip. 9.5 games up.
But the upcomming 5 series for the Mets are brutal.
Orioles, Reds, Jays, Bosoxs and Yankees.
Ugh...

If someone on my team got beaned twice, I would expect retaliation. I don't see it as neanderthal at all. I sure wouldn't want that guy on my team.
Baseball is a joke; they will fine and suspend someone for throwing inside but look the other way when it comes to steroids and HGH. It's a contact sport not ballet.
