Feanor wrote:It's sarcasm directed at you for making a stupid statement.

I said this - clearly talking about the 2004 playoffs:
Feanor wrote:It's weird how Buffalo is going thru the exact same thing the Flyers did the last time they held the Eastern Conference finals. Half the defense out with injuries, and not having home-ice advantage.
You replied in the very next post:
10spro wrote:Except that you won't see the inconsistency that Philly had with R.Esche.
Look pal, I don't want this to escalate to the point where this thread gets locked but calling a statement stupid because you disagree, is a childish action. If you start using adjectives let's PM each other and have a say there but because of your Flyer fanatism, I don't care when it was the last time they played in the CF especially with a year off, nor I would have guessed you were talking about 04. It's obvious to you that you were referring to 04 while I was talking about 06.

Again, everything I had written on this thread belongs to this year playoff's. If you assumed I was referring my comment on Esche back to 2004 you're wrong as I explained earlier.

I am enjoying this year's games immensely to have any sarcastic comment by you, so feel free to use the PM.

Quit making a fool of yourself. Everyone can see that you replied to Sully's post about Esche's 2004 stats (you even quoted him) and you NEVER said that you were talking about 2006. Never. You just quibbled about the validity of Save % as a stat. Sorry, but you can't weasel your way out of this one.

:?:
Esche allowed 21 goals in the 7 games to Tampa, and outplayed Brodeur and Belfour on his way to the Finals. He allowed 4 goals in 3 of the games during the ECF. I believe his save percentage for the series was .880.

Miller has allowed 13 goals in 4 games, and 4 goals in a game twice during this series. Save percentage during the series? .885
Save percentage don't mean much to me. It's just that: A stat. M. Brodeur arguably the best stopper today allowed only four goals and had a fantastic .965 save percentage in a sweep of the New York Rangers. Yet they lost tothe Canes next.

If you read carefully my response I mentioned to Sully that a stat didn't have much importance to me and as an example I mentioned Brodeurs's numbers pertaining to this year's playoff. If I am not talking about this year playoffs, did NJ play the Rangers and then the Canes in 04? Weasel out? Look dude, like I said use the PM if you want to throw the kitchen sink, but when it comes to Hockey talk I know what I am saying. Punk.

Keep digging. I won't waste my time with you any further. For such a self-proclaimed hockey expert, you don't do a very good job of keeping up with the discussion or explaining yourself clearly.
Sully wrote:Nobody is disputing the fact that Ryan Miller has been exceptional during this playoff run. I posted those stats as a comparison to how he's playing against Carolina, and how the "inconsistent" Robert Esche played against Tampa. Esche was the Flyers best player during their run to the CF 2 years ago.

As supposed to you telling things clearly? Or "assuming" that everyone knows that you were referring to the 04 Flyers? I said I know about my Hockey, I didn't say I was an expert, or did you just invent that? Did I say I was an expert?

I'm not locking this thread because it's been our sole home for playoffs' discussion, and I'm not going to let a silly pissing match ruin it. But 10s and Feanor, if you don't take it to PM's right now, you're going to get a nice holiday from the DSP Forum until after the Stanley Cup Finals.

Consider that the final warning.

Thanks,
PK

A little trivia: Who's the player among the remaining 3 teams that can win back to back Stanley Cups.

He must be on Carolina, because the Oilers have no previous Cup winners on their roster, and only Chris Drury has won one on the Sabres.

Take care,
PK

I am truly expecting an ass kicking of biblical proportions tonight by the Sabres. Tonight they forget about their injuries and their forwards sac up and get back to playing their type of game.

Sabres are struggling though, so they are going to have to earn it! Should be a great game Thursday night.
Edmonton is going to be out of sync by the time the finals start. They are going to have a 10 day layoff. That doesn't bode well at all especially since they don't have the home ice advantage.

GO SABRES!

Memo to Doug Weight....THANKS FOR SUCKING IT!!!!

Both Goalies stood tall, maybe E. Ward could have stopped the winning goal, but he played well. Too bad T. Numminem is injured again, game 7 should be great. And yes, EDM must be concerned about their long layoff, the same thing the Ducks went thru, but I am sure MacT is keeping them sharp.

The layoff could help the Oil because so many of their players have been ravaged by the flu the last 10 days. This will allow them to get healthy and regain strength.

Fingers crossed,

It seems to me that long layoffs almost always end up hurting a team. Long layoffs have always hurt Chris Pronger in the past as well....watch and see! Pronger will look like he's turned into former NHL'er Kjell Samuelsson for the first couple of games!

Yeah, even MacT was quoted as being "worried" about losing their good momentum. Sure the days off will help a few guys get over the flu, but you still need the intensity and real action play that a playoff game brings, instead of the constant practices with the same guys. A player needs to get his legs going basically, although this team is rich in grit & determination, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

The layoff should be a factor for any team for one game. If a team doesn't have its legs after Game 1, regardless of the length of layoff, then it's not a contending team.

Plus the Oilers are a very strong team mentally, and that's half the battle to overcoming any rustiness.

Take care,
PK

Is there any doubt the gods are against Buffalo fans?

Jay McKee didn't make the trip, and is questionable with a leg infection. Apparently, he's blocked so many shots, he has a cut on his leg that won't heal, and now it's infected.

Goodness, so much lying in the media, I don't understand why they do it.

McKee is OUT, and Buffalo won't be far behind, without 4 of their top 5 defenseman, they just won't be able to do it, as much as I want them too. Unfreakingbelievable.

You couldn't make this stuff up. I can't beleive it. When my buddy called this morning and told me, I thought for sure he was joking. Numinnen, Kalinin, Tallinder, and now McKee...unbeleivable. Our top four defenseman out, I've never seen anything like this. And that's not even counting Conolly, our best playmaking forward.

Word is that 23-year-old Nathan Paetsch will suit up in Mckee's place. Paetsch's NHL experience? ONE game.

Is McKee being out official? Is Lindy playing head games with Carolina here?

McKee did not make the trip to Carolina. Serious infection due to cut shin.
