All you gotta do is see last years Nationals...somehow stayed in first for a majority of the year and then just finally ran out of gas because they didn't have the talent the other teams in the division have. Same thing will hold true with the Tigers.lexbur wrote:I'm still not sure the Tigers are for real. But what the heck do I know? Last year at this time I didn't think the White Sox were for real.
Yes it does...AJColossal wrote:Where's XXXIV? I can use some "so much for the return of Kerry (Tiger) Woods jokes".
It looks like Richard Prior is taking his damn sweet time to come back.
Yep. After a while, the misery becomes comforting in a weird way.

Someone break up the Tigers. It just isnt fair.

While I'm not going to say the Tigers are here to stay as a force in the AL, but I think they are winning in a much better way than the Nats were. The Nats had an absurdly good record in one-run games that eventually regressed to the mean.dbdynsty25 wrote:All you gotta do is see last years Nationals...somehow stayed in first for a majority of the year and then just finally ran out of gas because they didn't have the talent the other teams in the division have. The Tigers have some good offensive players but some have had a hard time staying healthy (Ordonez and Guillen) and as a team strike out a lot.
Plus their pitching staff is fairly solid.

What a game at Queens between the NY teams. R. Johnson can't hold a four run lead again and the Mets bullpen just came through. Is it me, or Randy just doesn't seem to be comfortable in a NY uniform. I haven't really watched the Mets this year but in years past the bullpen would blow leads after leads. B. Wagner was untouchable. When it rains it poors I guess for the Yankees as J.Posada left with a lower back problem. 7-6
In Barrett's defense, they were practically nose-to-nose making it hard to generate much velocity
On the one hand I think it was an overreaction. On the other hand, I can empathize with the overwhelming desire to smack anyone in a White Sox uniform...especially when that somebody is AJ Pierczynski.

bonds did it, finally, what a sad day in baseball. I thought I wouldn't really care when he reached the babe, but now I feel like baseball history has been flushed down the toilet. This guy wouldn't have even been close to the babe if it wasn't for the roids. Guy is such a selfish a-hole that his post game comments don't surprise me.
I hope no one forgets how much of a racist bonds is when he talks about babe ruth. or as he likes to say it , the 'white' babe ruth. He holds ruth responsible for blacks not being in baseball for some reason.
What a crappy day for baseball.

I agree. This sucks. It will be an even sadder day when Barry either finally admits he cheated, or baseball finally opens its eyes to the truth and admits he cheated.
I'm also ticked off to hear that people gave him a standing ovation, and cheered him the next at bat. Why boo him before the game and before he hits the HR, but then cheer him after he hits it? I swear our country has no morals left.

Baseball helped him to cheat, along with Mcguire, Sosa and so on. They knew all along.

Because the fans are on the "Boo Bonds Bandwagon". It's hip. It's the thing to do. Which tells me that not too many people really give a sh** what Bonds did.
Got a text message from my brother on Saturday when the Flubs were getting mugged on the South Side: "I don't care how bad it is, I can't be a Sox fan."XXXIV wrote:Cubs cant hit but they sure can punch...![]()
Kill those bastards cub fans ...cause God knows you will never win a God damn thing...Its your way...mmm...punch...
Me: "Of course you can't, you have a job."

As for the Babe and Barry, I really don't care. I agree with P2K, MLB made it clear they were going to look the other way on steroids, so they have to reap what they sow. I don't think Bonds can hammer out enough to reach Aaron, so the record will likely remain safe.

The sun came up today, and will probably come up the day following Bonds' #715.
As a Giants homer, I'm obligated to take a different viewpoint than the rest of the nation. I don't think you should boo your own team, no matter the circumstances. And believe me, the Warriors are a franchise that can strengthen your principles.
Bonds has made SF baseball worth following for the past twelve years. He's a hard guy to like but if you watch him play a lot, he's tough not to appreciate when he plays. Ruth's accomplishments are incomparable, but Bonds has been the greatest of his era.
I'm honestly surprised by the amount of attention and negative feeling that's been raised by the chase. I knew Bonds has always been a controversial figure and steroids are a huge issue, but the media chasing a very mediocre 2006 Giants team has been pretty ridiculous.
