360 Question
I purchased a 360 a few days ago and finally had time to hook it up today. I logged onto live and downloaded demo's of Fight Night Rnd 3, Tomb Raider, G.R.A.W. , and Call of Duty. I then disconnected my 50 foot ethernet cable, kicked back and watched the Yankees comeback win vs. Texas. When the game ended I cranked up the 360 to check out my downloaded demo's and they all froze. My question is - Do you have to be currently connected to Xbox Live to play these or is something wrong with the 360? I'm feeling old and stupid!
Thanks in advance for your help.

DB, have you received your third 360 yet? Did MS send you another refurb? I got a refurb back that is actually older than my original 360 but I took it as a good sign because it was manufactured on my birthday. So far it is working, but you never know when the checkerboard or three red lights will show up out of the blue.
Come to think of it, my birthday was on a friday. They always used to say in Detroit that cars made on a Friday were always the lemons because the workers were all thinking about the weekend and not about their job. Not sure if Friday has the same effect on workers in China, but it's a theory about the 360 problems. Not sure what day of the week my first 360 was manufactured.
I am glad I got the extended warranty. I figure that the odds are that I got or will get a refurb where they fixed everything that can be fixed and it will run through the warranty.
If the PS3 hardware doesn't have any or minimal hardware issues, then I will understand where the extra $200 is going!

You might try reformatting your Hard Drive, since the system is new you probably dont have much on it anyway.
Also just a note (threadjack) the 360 was the top selling console in April, surprising to me.

As far as I know, the two systems that I got back were both new. Both were manufactured in December. The 2nd one I gave to my brother in law as I went out and bought a brand new one w/ a warranty. The one my bro in law has is still working great as far as I know.kevinpars wrote:DB, have you received your third 360 yet? Did MS send you another refurb?

Good news! Hope that you don't have any problems with this one. Even though I had to return mine 4= months in, I am still glad I got it.
I know we have talked about this before, but I wonder just what the issue is here and how large is it? Based on this site, the return rate is higher than MS lets on but that could be coincidence. It will be interesting to see how Sony cools their box and what sort of issues pop up.
