Kind of funny but I've always thought that Brett Scallions was the reason that band kind of stalled. Smart move by Fuel, because Daughtry will increase their fan base immensely. He should thank his lucky stars that he didn't win the damn contest now. One year ago he's working customer service and now he might be the new lead singer of Fuel....WOW. Amazing how life works out for some..

I read in USA Today, that Fuel offered him the gig after he sang "Hemhorage" (spell?) on the 1st final 12 night. Why he
didn't take it then I have no idea. A chance to be the lead singer
of a solid rock band like Fuel? I guess the exposure he had on
AI will help him and Fuel. If he doesn't take this gig, he's a moron.
He says he hasn't decided yet and doesn't want to make any hasty decisions.

All of the contestants are under contract with American Idol for the next year at least...I'm sure he won't (or can't) just jump on the chance now either, unless there is some way out of his contract. Remember, he has to tour with the finalists after the competition is over.JackB1 wrote:I read in USA Today, that Fuel offered him the gig after he sang "Hemhorage" (spell?) on the 1st final 12 night. Since he didn't win the contest, he only has to fulfill a 3 month obligation(summer tour) when the contest ends in two weeks. He's officially free to do whatever on August 25th.dbdynsty25 wrote:All of the contestants are under contract with American Idol for the next year at least...I'm sure he won't (or can't) just jump on the chance now either, unless there is some way out of his contract. Count me in the group that thinks it would be unbelievably stupid of him to actually take the gig. Sure, Fuel is an established band, but depending on the deal that they cut to get him in there, he may end up in the Van Halen syndrome. Just another front man for a well known band.
If anything, it's better for Fuel than it is for Daughtry. His popularity couldn't be higher, and he can cash in and put almost any musicians behind him and get the sound that people will soak up. You won't need to cut them in for nearly as much as Fuel would take, and you'll still probably sell the same number of records.
I'll be buying whatever it is because I like Daughtry's sound...not because it will say Fuel on it. If he's smart, he'll know that and use it. American Idol was nothing but a way to get discovered, and that's happened. It would really take an unbelievable percentage for him to sign on with Fuel in my opinion. He could make so much more on his own.

i'm pretty sure if he takes the offer, Chris Daughtry will be calling the shots for Fuel. I wouldn't even be suprised if the offical band headline becomes "Fuel, featuring Chris Daughtry". i think at the point Fuel has to agree to his demands because your right they need Chris more than he needs them.TCrouch wrote:Count me in the group that thinks it would be unbelievably stupid of him to actually take the gig. He should take it because recording with AI people sounds like it sucks. Bo Bice wanted to make a rock and roll album but his handlers forced him to make a more pop record than Rock. Although Bice isn't completely under AI contracts like Underwood is, they still take some of his profits and have a lot of influence on what kind of music he's going to be selling.
It's no wonder that Clarkson and Aiken sued their way out of AI contracts. Hopefully Bice can do the same. Chris would be more free with Fuel

Chris is free already, after the tour as far as I know. The only obligation you have in your contract if you get voted off is to do the summer tour. I don't think anybody but the top two have to record albums for the AI cause, so to speak.
I could be wrong, but I thought he was free to do whatever the hell he wanted (as mentioned before) in August or something. If that's the case, unless you get a hell of a deal from Fuel, you just milk the pub you've already received (especially with as much attention as it's getting now) and you do your own thing.
I mean, on a board full of E3 info and sports gaming, we even have a thread like this HERE, of all places.

Well someone is watching the show. As much as everyone claims they don't watch shows like American Idol...someone does, and it's obvious in a thread like this that everyone who claims to not watch, actually is.TCrouch wrote:I mean, on a board full of E3 info and sports gaming, we even have a thread like this HERE, of all places.
I've watched the show the last two years. It's as an entertaining show as there is on tv these days.dbdynsty25 wrote:Well someone is watching the show. See, I don't think it's fixed at all. I mean how stupid would you have to be to not listen to the exact public that would be buying the winner's album? Doesn't sound like a sound business decision to not cater to what the paying public wants. What I do think happens is the judges are told when someone is going to get voted off soon based on the voting and they do their best to build them up so it's a shock when they are voted off. I think the producers do their best to make some of the singers feeling safe even though they aren't.mobiggins wrote:I don't watch the show, but it seems to me that after the first year, there was some kind of controversy every season. I wonder how many of those are deliberately manufactured to keep interest high in the show...
