Haha, I was thinking the same thing. After listening again though I don't think it is. Good ol' Dorny. I still think it would have been great back when they had that 'name the new AHL team' contest which became the phantoms, they took the user submission of the Philadelphia Dornhoeffers.

I think every time the Flyers lose a faceoff his life is shortened by one day. He just can't stand them losing faceoffs, hehe.

Damn, I wish i could get on here at work.....

For the first time in my life I spent an ENTIRE period standing in my living room, jersey on, beer in hand, pacing and being so nervous I was sweating. The girlfriend thought i was insane!

I was pissed after the 2nd period and evern switched to the Blue Jays game during the intermission and the start of the third. I thought it was done for, and had no desire to go back to Detroit.....

Then bang, Pisani... then bang, Pisan, alllll alone on the break! I literally screamed. Then of coure, I cursed, when it was 3-2. And I have never sweat more during a video review then I did on Hemsky's. Wow...... when they called it a goal, I was ready to settle in for an OT, but man, that pass from Sammy was pure GOLD! Holy, I yelled and ran around, yes, ran around, our condo, while the girlfriend shook her head and rolled her eyes........

That was the best period of hockey I think I may have ever seen.........

Flyers came out even flatter than I expected tonight--I almost fell asleep watching that first period. I was talking with a friend of mine before the game and we both agreed that they would likely lose tonight, but I gotta say I expected more than this. Get something going....anything....

That first goal would have been shocking if they hadn't been doing the same damn thing for all of 2006. They could have and should have got the puck out of the zone without too much trouble, but they didn't and Esche was left with no chance on a tap-in. There's going to be a lot of players shipped out this off-season.

The first goal? Which was one that? I've lost track...

On the second point, it is hard to say what the Flyers will do. It is easy to say a lot of guys will be shipped out, but exactly how they go about doing that will be a very difficult question.

Man, I love this team so much. If they end up with Ottawa, the skating will be off the charts insane. I just hope Philly(or more specifically Eager) doesn't try to goon it up this period. I really wish it was over already.

If the Sabres can figure out Ottawa, they'll be hoisting the cup in June! They are that good!!!

You're forgetting a very large roadblock in the East known as the New Jersey Devils. The Devils are the best team in the playoffs right now.

Buffalo could do it, but it will have to go through the swamps of Jersey first. And then it will meet the Oil in the final -- and lose!

The Sabres and Oilers are very similar, though. Good goaltending, good special teams, four lines that can hurt you, a lot of hustle, a lot of grit, a crafty coach. No one wants to play either team right now, I would think.

So, who's most vulnerable in the respective conferences right now?

EAST
New Jersey
Buffalo
Ottawa
Carolina/Montreal

WEST
San Jose
Edmonton
Colorado
Calgary/Anaheim

The East is easy -- Carolina or Montreal. The West? I think the winner of Calgary-Anaheim still will be tough. I still see Colorado as the weakest team in the West, as Dallas didn't show up at all for that series.

Either way, the balance of power in the playoffs now leans decidedly right. I think the top three teams in the East right now -- Buffalo, Ottawa and New Jersey -- could beat any team in the West. Except for my Oil, of course.

Seriously, the East is stacked.

What do you fellow puckheads think?

There's the overstatement of the year. Sabres will be fighting for their lives just to make it of the next round.

I agree. The Sabres had the first round matchup of their dreams. A big, slow Flyers squad stuck in the old NHL for them to skate circles around. They're a good team, but I'd still say that Ottawa, Carolina, and Jersey are better.

Vulnerable? The winner of CAR (although C. Ward is the S. Giguere of 03) or MON like you said in the east and I am still suspect on Theodore and the AVS in the west. Once, Hasek is back in form, OTT will take it all the way baby!

CAR-MON, how many OT's have these two teams gone to? Most entertaining series of the playoffs by far. Have any of you watched the last minute of regulation? It's finger biting for Habs fans.

I agree.
Habs have been a different time without Koivu. Carolina will have to poke someones eye out to advance past the next round.

I would say Buffalo is definitely better than Carolina, and just a tick behind both Ottawa and Jersey. BUT, they can beat them both if everything falls right. I can't wait, it should be fun regardless. It's too bad about Hasek, a Buffalo vs. Hasek series would be a dream come true for me.

Can only hope my boys can keep it up. I'm sure the guys won't get overconfident over a short series versus an injury depleted team that had likely been playing over it's head for the better part of the season. They've got an incredible streak rolling and I'm hoping the layoff doesn't affect their focus.

Congrats to Sabres and Canes as the next round of the East playoff picture crystalizes...

I gotta go with the Devils. Know one is playing better. With their offense combined with maybe the best goalie to ever play the game I don't see anyone matching them.

Carolina can definitely beat the Devils. Brodeur may be one of the best five goalies of all time, but he's been beaten in plenty of series before, and Carolina have the goal scorers to test him.
