Anyway, about the game....
Good grief, this is embarrassing. The Flyers don't even look like they belong in the same rink as the sabres. Roadkill is the only word I can think to describe it. Now my 4-3 prediction was more homerism than what I thought would happen, but I never expected it to be made impossible in the first period!!!

As did TSN! What a bunch of crap! I want to see the Sabres.Naples39 wrote:Don't mind him....Gauthier is an idiot. I have already switched to watching the Hurricanes attempt a comeback.CrazyPsycho wrote:Nice cheap shot by Gauthier. That was really unnecessary. Vanek almost landed on his head/neck.

Are you talking about the same classless Ed Snider who ripped Terry Gregson a new one in April 1999 after Snider thought Gregson -- one of the most highly regarded NHL refs of the time -- was biased toward the Leafs in their series against the Flyers, calling elbowing against LeClair that led to the Leafs scoring the series-clinching goal?Diablo25 wrote:Actually, the Wakovia Center would not have shown that over and over. Ed Snyder wouldn't let it happen.
I didn't think so.

Check out comcast.net. You should able to find a live feed there.tjung0831 wrote:As did TSN! What a bunch of crap! I want to see the Sabres.Naples39 wrote:Don't mind him....Gauthier is an idiot. Yes, because it's Forsberg's fault they gave up 6 goals, and JP Dumont is obviously a much better player. What do you want the guy to do? Singlehandedly take over when his team is being utterly dominated? The Forsberg line has actually played pretty well, it's the other 15 skaters that are the problem (forsberg is even +1 tonight).tjung0831 wrote:I expect to see Peter Forsberg as tonights missing persons case on Greta Van Susteren's show on the fox news channel at 9pm CST.
I don't understand it either. Picking up the crap by OLN, come on TSN get your act together. It leaves me no choice but to follow the HNIC gang with the MON game. CAR is in trouble.tjung0831 wrote:As did TSN! What a bunch of crap! I want to see the Sabres.Naples39 wrote:Don't mind him....Gauthier is an idiot. Thank God for NHL Center Ice. OLN is showing the Rangers-Devils here in Syracuse, and the Sabres' game inexplicably is blacked out on both OLN and Center Ice. But at least I'm getting the fun, fun Habs-Canes game on Center Ice, with Hughson doing the play-by-play for CBC.
Could be a lot worse!
And, oh, does it give me great pleasure to see Dallas go down, 2-0, in the first period against Colorado. I hate Dallas, big time, almost as much as Calgary.
Take care,
PK

Turco is no Belfour. How many playoff series has he won? One I think, not sure, his sphincter tends to close shut this time of year.pk500 wrote: And, oh, does it give me great pleasure to see Dallas go down, 2-0, in the first period against Colorado. Who knows with the score already 8-2, OLN thought hey why bother? Maybe they are Phillies fans.
What the heck happened to Esche this time? Good for him trying to go for a fight and get some emotions to his listless team but I look at the score again and I tell myself: BUFF is not that good and Philly isn't that bad right?

To Esche's credit, he was hung out to dry on 3 of the Sabres first 5 goals. This loss hangs on the shoulders of the guys playing in front of him. Buffalo has taken their play up a notch for the playoffs, while the Flyers are stuck in January.10spro wrote:Who knows with the score already 8-2, OLN thought hey why bother? With no intention to threadjack, I hate the TOR Maple Leafs the most. Some said they are the most overrated sports franchise in history. Some SI guy I believe.pk500 wrote:And, oh, does it give me great pleasure to see Dallas go down, 2-0, in the first period against Colorado. I hate Dallas, big time, almost as much as Calgary.

I think you missed my point completely. As far as Dumont being the better player, he sure as heck has been right now when it counts. Leaders make a difference and that's what Forsberg was brought in to do and at this point he hasn't done it yet. The Flyers are big and slow and being outclassed by a smaller, more talented team.Naples39 wrote:Yes, because it's Forsberg's fault they gave up 6 goals, and JP Dumont is obviously a much better player. Props to Directv as they actually switched over to the MSG feed so I got to see Rick Jeannert call the 3rd period. Directv must have got hammered with complaints in order to do that!pk500 wrote:Thank God for NHL Center Ice. Wow, give Carolina and Dallas some credit. Both teams have some stones, rallying from 3-0 deficits.
The pace of the first OT between Carolina and Montreal was SICK. Up and down the ice, glorious chances on both ends. Not sure how much longer they can keep it up, heading into the second OT, but man, it is fun as hell to watch.
Cam Ward is the hero of the night, even if the Canes lose. To come in cold and stem the bleeding for Carolina in goal against a hot Habs' team is quite the feat. Oh, and Dumont and Pominville had pretty good games for Buffalo, too. I'd like to own a Hat World franchise in Buffalo right now.
Take care,
PK

Fabulous game, and it goes to show how ridiculously wrong Don Cherry was in past years when he kept calling for the refs to "let them play". In past years the playoffs were an absolute snorefest with virtually no opportunity to skate with the puck. They are calling the clutching and holding and it has just opened the game up into a thing of beauty.pk500 wrote:Wow, give Carolina and Dallas some credit. After screwing up with the strike, the NHL has really come back with a bang this season!
Best wishes,
Doug
