Scoop.. is your game freezing up on you? If not, you can still save your settings/sliders. I am only playing exhibition games, but am using BigF's sliders (with some tweaks) and have not had a single freeze. I do have to change my vip settings everytime cause I haven't created and offline VIP but it only takes 15 seconds. I am waiting for the patch and roster update to start a season.ScoopBrady wrote:Looks like the fix will be available early next week. Taken from the 2ksports forums:
"2K Sports has finalized a solution that solves the “freeze” issue in Major League Baseball 2K6 for Xbox 360 that is occurring with some consumers. An auto update is currently in compliance testing at Microsoft. 2K Sports and Microsoft anticipate the auto update to be available early next week on Xbox Live, free via the Xbox 360 Live Silver service that comes with every Xbox 360 bundle."

Yay! I'll be able to try out the sliders!
Anyone picking up MLB2K6 for the 360 today?

Truth, my game is freezing on me. The only way I can play without freezes is to remove the harddrive. I even get freezes if I load 3 other games before loading MLB.
I wasn't about to buy a memory card so I've been anxiously awaiting this patch.

Well, I rented the game this evening. I had taken my copy back last week after repeated freezes. Today, I did the suggestion of loading three games first, and then loading MLB 2k6. By the way, when I loaded MLB 2k6, I held down the "A" button until the screen came up to hit start. Don't know if that made a difference or not. Anyways, I haven't had a single freeze in two games that I've played. Maybe, it's the rented copy I have or maybe it's the loading of the three games. Who knows.
I played with the sliders listed in this thread, and for the most part, I enjoyed myself. There are a couple things that annoy me. The damn organ music plays all the f'n time. Can it be turned off? It sounds like a circus is going on. I half expect to see the elephants and monkeys running on the field. Also, why doesn't the umpire just call out a ball and a strike? Realism is taken away when they say "outside" or "low and inside", etc. These are minor, but it's still frusturating KUSH can't make it feel more like a real baseball game. The game does feel immersive, but then you hear the organ music and umpire calls and you're left wondering why these two simple things weren't fixed.
As I stated, I enjoyed my experience but it's not $60 fun in my opinion. I do think they do many things well, just not great. They seriously need to overhaul the animations, change the fielding momentum to give the gamer more flexibility, simplify the baserunning (the game is still to station to station), and give us an aerial fielding camera angle for petes sake!! If they just changed those features, I'd enjoy this game 100% more!
By the way, the rosters are absolutely hideous. At least for the Cardinals. No John Rodriguez and Brad Thompson but they do give us Devi Cruz and Slim Hansen (who the F is this tool?).

I know the patch should be coming out early this upcoming week but I might have found a fix for now. I noticed when I was playing tonight that there were options for showing inning highlights and player highlights when the walk up to plate. I turned these to off and will try and play again tomorrow without disabling the harddrive or loading 3 other games first. It makes sense to me since one of the freezes I got was right after a homerun (a play that would be saved to the harddrive for showing the highlight at the end of the inning). I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing the freezes but if you are try this out and see if it works.

The past couple of nights I've been having a lot of fun with 2k5. For $2, it's been a much better deal to me than $40 for 2k6. I found some really good rosters that match opening day, so they are already better than anything that Take 2 has provided for 2k6 (for offline play at least).
It's nice to have a change of pace from MVP 05. I'll still go back to MVP quite a bit, but with how much I play baseball games I almost need 2 different games so I don't burn myself out on one.
I'm surprised more people haven't had more complaints about the hitting systems in 2k6. They removed the best option from last year and replaced it with a couple of MVP knockoffs. It sems like a lot of the MPV fans went back to either 05 or 06, but where did all the MVP hitting systems haters go? ASB? I thought that influencing where to hit the ball worked too well. It was too easy to press up and take a ball deep into the outfield. At least in MVP it didn't work so well all the time. Do that to the wrong pitch and you'd hit a weak popup or even a weak grounder. I didn't see that variety in 2k6.
Even though I'm content for this year, I can how as the years go on tis deal could make things miserable for me. Like I said, I like having a couple good games to rotate, but now it's down to just the 2k series, whichhas gone backwards since 2k4, and the Show. For this alone, a PS3 is looking better every day.

Personally I am going to have to disagree. Keep in mind I don't have the freezing issue, while I couldn't even finish a game of 2k4 or 2k5 due to boredom, I have had a blast with 2k6. So for me, they definitely haven't taken a step back.matthewk wrote: Like I said, I like having a couple good games to rotate, but now it's down to just the 2k series, whichhas gone backwards since 2k4, and the Show.

Agree bk. For whatever reason, I never could seem to play consecutive games of MLB:The Show, but I can with this game. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it is rather enjoyable.bkrich83 wrote:Personally I am going to have to disagree. Maybe I just suck. I have pitch speed set to 70 and contact at 18 power at 23, and I whiff plenty.JackB1 wrote:my main gripe with 2K6 is that hitting is timing based and too easy to make contact. I can wiff over 10 times in The Show against a tough pitcher and I love that! I never wiff over 5 times a game in 2K6. Maybe I need to crank up the pitch speed and lower the contact?
