Borussia Dortmund 1 -- Lazio 2
SOG 7 --- 18
Target 5----12
FK 8---8
Corner 2---3
Fouls 8---8
Offside 3--2
Posses. 57---43
Scoring:
Koller (B.Dort.) 35'
DiCanio (Lazio) 8' 89'
Lazio pulls out a late win in an even match. DiCanio opened the scoring, slotting home a fine angled cross from Liverani. Borussia Dortmund responded with tremendous poise, placing Lazio under incredible pressure that saw them dominate the balance of the first half. Koller's score featured some nimble footwork by the big forward.
The second half saw Dortmund take a few fine chances, but for the most part Lazio carried the play. Dortmund's keeper did a fine job saving some tough shots, and DiCanio found the woodwork near the 73' minute. He finished the job near the end of regulation, as Rocci jumped on a soft back pass. He dribbled into the box, drawing two defenders and the keeper, before slipping a nice ball through to DiCanio who had the entire goal at his disposal.
Great game, Sully. That second half was a real pinball machine with a lot of space to play. I was very lucky to take the 3 points, and look forward to the rematch.

Zauri (Lazio) 32'
Rocchi (Lazio) 89'
Lazio turned the tables on Feyenoord, who beat them handily on the road in Week 1. DiCanio opened the scoring with a slicing half-volley from the edge of the area. Cesar followed with a fortunate goal that was deflected in by Cory Gibbs. Zauri followed up almost immediately with a bouncing shot into the lower right corner. Rocchi's coup de grace saw him latching onto a deep through ball from DiCanio which the Feyenoord defense somehow allowed enter the 6-yard box. Feyenoord mustered only a few chances on what was obviously just an off night.
Good game, Naples. Like I said, I've had a couple games like that recently. It's funny because I think we're evenly matched, but we've played two fairly one-sided games. We'll get a close one in here soon.

Fenerbahce, Feyenord Play to 1-1 Draw
Fenrbahce hosted Feyenord for their first-half game, and wound up with a 1-1 draw. Fenerbahce's Alex (Anekks) broke the ice in the 39th minute after a nice build up resulted in him running onto a pass right at the top of the box. He made no mistake with the right-footed blast into the upper corner.
But the away side responded quickly, Castelen notching a goal in the 49th minute. There were plenty of chances for both sides throughout the match, with Feyenord registering 11 shots on goal to the home side's 5, but niether team could find the winner. In a battle of posession-obsessed managers, Fenerbache held the ball 51% of the time, but to no avail.
Great game, Naples, very close. We seem to have some pretty evenly matched teams. Of course, I don't think that will stop me from abandoning the Turks during the off-season for someone fresh and new, and one hopes a little deeper. . . .

Fenerbahce earns first win, 1-0 in Turkish Derby
Fenerbahce earned their first win today, defeating Galatasaray in the second edition of the Turkish Derby, this time held at Stade Velodrome (Massilia Stadium). It was a tight affair all the way through, and the score line doesn't come close to describing the wide open chances available to both sides. After a scoreless first half, which saw Rustu (Risko) come up with at least two big saves, Fenerbahce sat back in the second half and waited to counter. They finally broke through in the 73rd minute (I think, I forgot to write everything down, Mo. . . a little help if you happened to jot down the numbers) on a beautifully crossed ball that was met by the head of Mahmut (Maljut), who started on the left flank when Marco Aurelia (Man Altonio) proved unable to go with a bad grey down arrow.
Galatasaray had the best of the chances, it must be said. Both sides missed plenty of clear shooting chances, but Galatasaray missed a handful in each half. Both keepers were superb, getting to everything near them. Galatasaray's keeper had no chance on the goal, the result of some nice play on the right flank.
Great game, Mo. It gets me two points ahead of you and Dortmund, though Dortmund has 2 games in hand. No way I am clear of relegation worries, though. Good luck the rest of the way. My love/hate relationship with Anelka, Alex and Co. is becoming more and more confusing. I just don't know whether to keep them or not, but for now I am fighting for top division survival. If only, if only there were ML online and I could add some depth in an off-season transfer period. Oh well. Some day maybe. For now, this is working fine, and despite my frustrations, I think this league is going very well. I'm having a blast!!

Fenerbahce Continue Hot Streak, Win 3-1 Over Feyenoord
Fenerbahce won their second game of the season, scoring three goals on the road at Feyenoord, coming away with the 3-1 victory over the Dutch side. It was the Turkish team's second win in a row, and the first time they scored more than 2 goals in a game.
The scoring began in the 27th minute when Anelka (Aneuta) headed home a perfect cross. Alex (Anekks) added his tally a mere four minutes later (31') on a perfectly placed free kick from 25M away, bending the ball into the side netting and past the diving keeper. The visitors added another goal in the 64th minute when Anelka sent in a beautiful early cross to an unmarked Marcio (Marmea), who did well to bring the ball down and smack it into the back of the net off the outside of his right boot. Castelen netted a goal in stoppage time to salvage some honor for the home side, a goal which could prove important in the relegation battle.

Heck of a game, Naples. I don't know what it was that got into me, maybe all the MLS action I watched this weekend rubbed off. Anelka was a monster, despite the blue arrow, and that cross to Marcio was just plain perfect. It sure wasn't like you didn't have any good chances, but Rustu (Risko) seemed to have his force field working, pushing shots that he couldn't get to wide with paranormal powers.
Good luck the rest of the way. This relegation battle is getting interesting; I'm not safe yet!

Feyenoord's scoring woes continued in a scoreless draw in Rotterdam against Dortmund.
Both teams generated some good scoring opportunities in the early going, but Weidenfeller was there when called upon, and Rosicky blasted Dortmund's best chance wide from 15 yards. The game got notably sloppier in the second half before the final whistle confirmed a scoreless affair.

I just hope Feyenoord is safe from relegation, because after gaining 7 points in my first 3 games, I have only managed 2 goals and 2 points from my last 4.
