Congrats on getting a 360, Boltman!Boltman wrote: What 2 games are my must haves?
For me, Oblivion would be one. I haven't played a lot of RPGs over the last ten years -- Final Fantasy VII and the two Star Wars KOTOR games are about it. But this game is just a superb title, so well done and engrossing.
The other three I've owned:
Call of Duty 2 is the best of the launch titles, and you can probably find it used for fairly cheap. Really good graphics, pretty good controls for a console FPS, and VERY intense on the harder levels.
NBA 2k6 is solid but unspectacular. I found the AI to get repetitious after a while, as it seems like the CPU teams run the same offense more or less.
PGR3 was nice but also not a blow-you-away title. I traded this and NBA in for Oblivion and don't miss them.
Ghost Recon is on my purchase list, but I'm so into Oblivion I'm not interested in playing anything else right now.
Oblivion is a must have.
I don't have a second must have now. I would say there are definate renters. Call of Duty is a must play title but I would rent in as you can beat it very quickly. Need for Speed and Full Auto are just mindless fun games. I would give them a spin but they aren't "buys" for me.
I would pick up NBA 2k6 just to look at the graphics. That game is probably the only one that shows off the next-gen qualities of the 360.

Yes it does. A few pages back in the obvion thread, I started asking some questions because I got about 10 hours into it and I started figuring it out and enjoying it.ScoopBrady wrote:Does that mean you started digging Oblivion more before you 360 crapped out on you?dbdynsty25 wrote:Oblivion and Top Spin 2...
Now if only I could play them on my broken 360.
Well I took the plunge and bought a 360 today. I actually picked up Madden on the cheap which I like and believe it or not is the reason that I bought the system. I'm going to download a bunch of the demo's and see if there is anything else I want to pickup. Believe it or not i'm going to give MLB 2K6 a shot on the 360 next week.

I have yet to see one in the stores since launch night. My brother, who also lives in the Chicagoland area, says he saw 3 once. Other than that it's been bone dry in the Chicagoland area.dbdynsty25 wrote:Funny how you guys in the midwest and east part of the US can find them easily. Been in West Africa the past two weeks, so I have not been in a store other than CompUSA that would have them in stock. CompUSA has them for sale online, but not in-store in the Houston area. PO'd because I came home and my son tells me that the 360 is freezing while playing Oblivion. Sure enough, now I am getting the three red lights at boot and no screen. Bought the TAP extended warranty through CompUSA, but I have to wait til this Friday to get another unit. So much for extended warranties. Called MS and the rep told me they would send me a box to ship the defective unit back and it would take 10-15 days for them to REPAIR and return the unit. I thought they were sending new units to those who are ending up with defective units? He told me he has never heard of MS sending new replacement units in return for defective ones.....interesting. Either way, CompUSA better come through on Friday or I will ask for my money back and go buy the unit at some other store that stands behind their replacement warranty....
I think the drought is officially over in D/FW, I walked into a Best Buy on Wednesday and a Target on Saturday and there were units in stock. First time I had ever seen them on a shelf. Both Premium and Cores available.

Seriously bro, look how long it took me to finally get one. I'm playing tons of GRAW where as everyone else is already bored with it and have moved on!!dbdynsty25 wrote:Funny how you guys in the midwest and east part of the US can find them easily. Finally got a new 360, no thanks to CompUSA. After getting the run-around for over a week, I went to Target this AM and bought a new 360 Core. Took the new unit and my dead unit to CompUSA and they credited me back the full price for the new unit and transferred my TAP warranty to the new unit purchased at Target. I should not have had to go through hoops to get my replacement unit, but now I have one and my son can now play Oblivion. Heading out to exchange GRAW for Blazing Angels....demo was alot of fun and I have always enjoyed WWII flying games....

Congrats bro.
Good for you.

Got a 360 on saturday. For the last few days i was driving all around L.A. stopping in BB, Toys are Us, Circuit City, Target, and Frys looking for a premium system. Most places had cores left but no premium. I finally found a premium at the toys are us in Alhambra. After wasting so much gas driving from store to store i must say that the core system is an incredibly stupid idea on Microsoft's part. It's pretty obvious that no one wants them and people are generall only buying them because they can't find a premium. It's just such a rip off. I think MS has hurt their sales with the core system. They would have sold a lot more by now if they were all premiums. I can't tell you how many people i've seen walk up to a sales person, ask if they had a 360 in stock and then walked away because they couldn't get a premium.
That's my rant. As for the positives, i really love the system so far. I love how it's more than a console but part of your whole entertainment system. I have it hooked up to my new widescreen LCD moniter and it's sharing an internet connection with my PC and the sound is also being piped through the PC. My only gripe is that so far it looks like i can't stream all my media from the PC without turning off internet sharing. I'll give it another shot though.
