Dan,
thanks for posting these sliders.

I only disagree with a couple of things. I have my own fielder agression set high, so my of's go after everything. I did lower it for the CPU only.
Also, I think you need to raise pitch speeds and lower contact so that you will strike out once in a while. I have pitch speed on 85 and player batting contact on 30.

BTW, does anyone else think that these screen shots from Gamespot were just as "fake" as the Madden 360 screen shots that everyone made a big stink about? My game looks much much different than this.

I haven't seen anything in the game that looks anything like those screenshots. Even on the 360 the game has a cartoonish look to it. The mix of semi-realistic and badly textured cartoon is really jarring.

And I've seen better baserunning A.I. in t-ball. There's nothing like seeing a runner on second and a ground ball is hit between the first and second baseman into right field, and the runner doesn't advance. That's right, he didn't advance, because on a ground ball to the right side of the infield, he dove back to second base.

I've seen this half a dozen times already.

That is the truth. They have the worst QA for sports games since Acclaim. Since the 2k4 editions, every 2k sports game I've played has had all kinds of bugs or weird gameplay glitches, stuff you know they are catching and just not fixing because its so obvious. I know everybody bashes EA (and often for good reason), but nobody shits the bed on QA like 2K.

Thanks for the impressions, too, you all just saved me $60. I only wish 2k4 was on the backwards compatibility list along with 2k3 -- I still have it and could pick up where my old Cubs season left off.

Yeah...not so much. Chipper Jones looks generic on my version. On that screen shot, he looks like well...Chipper Jones.

2 people returned copies of 2k6 while I was at the line in EB an hour ago.

Both came in saying that they where on their 2nd copy already.

I told them that 2k sports had aknowledge there was a problem freezing in consoles that had hard drives.

They both where gonna ask for arefund after I left.

F************ccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

I guess once you get a freeze then you are screwed because I can't get past the second inning!!!!!!!!!! I can handle a bad game, but if EB doesn't take this MFing piece of crap back then what can I do? I can't ethically sell it on Ebay knowing that it doesn't work.

That is why I'm hesitent to even put mine back in the machine. It just sold on Ebay, so I don't want to put it in and play it "one more time" before it leaves my house...just to have it freeze, and then I'm technically selling something that doesn't work. That's not cool. Therefor, I will NOT play it again, and send it off with a clear mind.

Take it back to EB for another copy of the game and sell the new one on Ebay.

Yeah, I can try that as long as they don't open it. If they open it and then give me a new disk, which I believe is the procedure at some EBs, I will just keep returning copies until they get the message.

This is the first outright defective game I've ever had to return.

If someone has access to a time machine, would they mind going back a couple days, and posting on this forum there is no reason whatsoever that anyone should buy this game unless they are into masochism and/or throwing away money?

Thanks in advance.

I like the pitching... maybe I'll hang onto it and wait for a patch.

Is it just me, or does the Xbox version look better than the 360 one? The weird colors of the 360 version, all the generic faces... what the hell happened?

I took my 2nd copy back today and they let me exchange it for Battlefield 2 Modern Combat. Just explain that there is a problem with a lot of the discs and if you took another one, you would only bring it back as well. I had no problem at all and my EB is one of those that runs strictly by the book.

I would not expect them to give you money, though.

I started a World Baseball Classic season last night as Japan, using the updated rosters and the slider settings mentioned earlier. Great pitchers duel and a 1-0 win for me (10 K's!).

Still no lock-ups for me, but it gets tough playing with your fingers crossed...

The sad thing is I was actually enjoying the few innings I got to play before crashing. I still hope with tweaks it can be at least an average to slightly above average game (I too really like the pitching and batting is OK). I know it's not as good as the Show, but I think I could find enough enjoyment out of it this summer to get my $15-30 out of it. It would probably end up falling in the tier below MLB The Show, High Heat, MVP 05, and MLB 2K4 in my list of favorite baseball games. I'm enough of a masochist that I *want* a patch, working disc, or whatever it would take so I could play more and not feel totally screwed.

Like so many others, I can't get past the second inning in an Exhibition or Franchise game.

I did, however, discover the solution to my inability to get online at the OS forums.

MAKE SURE YOUR VIP PROFILE IS NOT THE SAME NAME AS YOUR GAMERTAG, if it is, you will get freeze-ups as soon as you try to go online. Delete your VIP and restart, then create a new VIP with another name. After that you can get online and it will automatically create an 'ONLINE' VIP with your gamertag as the name. The bug is in the fact that the online system can't overwrite, ignore, or load and offline VIP created with the same name as your Gamertag.

I was going to bring my copy back and demand a refund today, but I may wait for a patch as I desperately want a baseball game for my 360, and I don't want to screw my retailer with a mountain of unsellable game copies; it's not their fault either...

However, this thing borders on CLASS ACTION LAW-SUIT territory. After all, we all bought a $60 product which is NOT functional and CANNOT be returned (according to store policy). 2K basically took a dump in a box and called it a baseball game...Everyone should get their $60 back as a piece of useless sh*t is certainly NOT a baseball game. This isn't a QUALITATIVE judgment (game being good or bad); it's NOT a game at all since it doesn't actually work!

Maybe this will finally get 2K sports to take things seriously and learn how to program a game that knows how to use the 360 hard drive.

There were issues with NHL, College Hoops (the patch broke my game), and now this game. It is inexcusable. I can now say that I am very glad that EA won the football licensing battle, because at least we don't have this crap to worry about in Madden or NCAA Football.

It also doesn't say much about Microsoft's quality control that they would certify a game that doesn't work.

Well, I played two more demos of the game last night (freezes after the 2nd and 3rd inning). This is a great $60 demo! It's not as bad as my previous rant, but two things keep this game from being enjoyable.

The camera angles and the fielding just blow chunks. Why can't Kush put in an aerial camera angle? On one play, the opposing hitter smacked a deep fly ball to left field, but the angle I was given was from the catcher's view. Therefore, I couldn't accurately judge the flight of the ball. It ended up going for a ground rule double when most likely I could have positioned my player under the ball. By the way, I was playing with the "pole" cam, which in my estimation is the only playable cam in the game. I tried broadcast cam, but then you have to look behind the freakin' net! Idiotic.

And fielding. What's there to say about the fielding that hasn't been said. It's just awful. I never feel in control of my player whatsoever. The momentum that's associated with fielding is way over the top. How can the developers think it's fun? Heck, after a routine grounder, you can't even control your first baseman after the out has been recorded to move him around.

I didn't have time to take the game back to Game Stop last night, but I'm stopping off on my way home.

Since we're airing grievances, I think it is pretty funny that they programmed collision detection between fielders on my own team but not baserunners. There was a play last night with the pitcher covering that would have been a hell of a three way collision. I was controlling the first baseman and had plenty of time to take it to the bag myself, but the pitcher got in my way and there was a collision. The baserunner was also there at the same time but he just ran through both of us...LOL.

BTW, it will be interesting to see if they can do anything about freezes other than replacing the disks. I've read that some people are experiencing freezes even with the hard drive disconnected or using a memory card for saves. I thought cut scenes were the problem, but I even had the game freeze with the pitch half way to the plate.

Speaking of collision detection, I had a play where the ball was hit to my second baseman. It was hit weakly up the middle and it was a sure fire double play. Instead of flipping it to the SS, I took it myself. I steped on the second base bag, but in doing so I hip checked the SS about 5 feet and threw on to 1st for the double play. Pretty hilarious.

And yes, I've also have seen where the opposing player will walk through the umpire.

I have also seen line drives go right through the third base coach. I just figured that the third base coaches learned that trick from Darren Dalton who frequently travels on and through distant astral planes.

I am going to stick with this game for a while. I am not up to fighting EB for a return, and I have been able to get it to work with a memory card and the hard drive unhooked. I do like the pitching interface and the batting is OK. The way the various options are layed out is atrocious - some of the options are in the settings, others in the VIP profile. For example, if you don't like the behind the pitcher view for pitching, you don't change it by going to Options and camera angles - it is in the VIP. Who thought that was a good idea?

If MVP NCAA was backward compatible, I would play that in a heartbeat. but this is what we have for the 360, so I will give it a few weeks. Then I will sell it - if anyone on ebay/half.com wants it. Hopefully, at least there will be a fix by that point, because I am going to be honest about the hard drive issues in my product description.

However, if anyone wants to trade straight up their copy of College Hoops 2K6 360 for this game, PM me.
